Work Text:
Enid had arrived too late.
Wednesday was lying on the ground, a red pool around her pale face.
She came closer, as to check if it wasn’t an illusion.
“Wednesday ! Come on, get up ! Please get up !!”
The latter didn’t move an inch.
“Come on !! Come on.. please” she cried as she collapsed on her inanimate body.
Enid awoke with a start, cold sweat on her back.
She turned around and tried to look for her roommate.
Everything was okay, Wednesday was there.
Enid tried to relax, but she couldn’t. She was still panting, her claws out and chills running through her.
She had to check if she was still breathing.
She stood up, went to Wednesday and placed her ear on her heart.
Enid sighed in relief, her heart was still beating.
“Enid?” asked Wednesday as she woke up.
“Uh, ah, sorry. I had a nightmare.”
Wednesday’s eyes sparkled.
“Tell me everything”, she ordered as she stood up a bit.
Her brows furrowed when she saw tears on Enid’s cheeks. She sometimes forgot the fact that not everybody liked nightmares like she did.
“I couldn’t get there on time, I mean, you died and I couldn’t do anything… and your heart is beating so slowly! It isn’t normal! When I woke up I couldn’t chill because I couldn’t hear it, that’s why I came to your bed.
Wednesday scooted over to invite Enid to lay beside her. She slipped under the black sheets and laid her head on Wednesday’s chest, who wrapped her arms around her.
“If you tell anybody about this, I’ll kill you” She deadpanned.
Enid sighed with contentment, she was alive and stingy as ever.
