Ryan looked at the floor
“Was it worth it?”
He said nothing
“Subject B.”
“No.”
“Why do you keep trying? Why don’t you just accept your situation like an adult? Why do you insist on acting like a child, B?”
Nothing
“B.”
“Cause Dal doesn’t deserve this. He deserves to be safe, he deserves so much fucking better than this! God, do you even hear yourself sometimes? ‘Why do you want to break out of the evil fucking death lab?’ Gee, I dunno-“
She pressed a button on her remote causing Ryan’s collar to let out a buzzing sound. He clutched at his neck. The collar shocks weren’t as bad as the machines, thank god, but it wasn’t exactly pleasant either.
“What would you do if he died?”
Ryan blinked “what?”
“what would you do if he died?” she repeated
“What do you- what are you talking about?” he demanded
“I'm asking you a basic question, B. What would you do? Would you continue trying to escape?”
“He isn't going to die”
“I didn't ask if he was, I asked what you would do if he did.”
Ryan shifted in his seat “you wouldn't. You need him more than you need me.”
“But accidents do happen, you would agree with that wouldn't you?”
“No-”
“What will you do if an accident happens, subject B?”
“Shut up”
“B.”
“I told you to shut up-!”
Another shock. Longer this time. Ryan curled in on himself, pulling at that thick metal.
“Are you ready to answer? Or do I need to shock you again?”
He breathed heavily “I don't know. I don't know what i would do”
She tilted her head “oh, thats unfortunate” and the reached for the remote
