Work Text:

Adamanta worked at a small little coffee shop downtown of the city that she lived with her family. It was one of the few that wasn't a chain which was nice. They got a few customers every once in awhile, but for the most part, it stayed fairly quite.

One of her coworkers, San, was helping her open that day. They got along fairly well and she enjoyed working with them. San constantly keeping her entertained by their stories and anecdotes about previous dates or people they were into. One of which was a frequent customer of theirs, a rich kid names Casamir and boy was San ever so persistent to get his number.

A little chirp stirred her from her thoughts and she looked over at the small black cat that sat beside her by the front counters. Adamanta let out a small chuckle and threw a piece of croissant at her. "Toast, you know you can't have too much of this. You'll get sick."

Toast just slowly blinked back at Adamanta before chirpping again and eating the piece that she dropped.

San walks up over to her and let's out a chuckle. "You give in too easily."

Adamanta just throws a piece of the pastry at San in response and they laugh again before going back to finish putting down the chairs in the lobby.

As the two finish up wiping down the counters and getting the cash drawers set up, the door opens and a tall woman with silver hair walks in holding a small vase of flowers. She grins at the two and places it down on the counter. "Hi!"

Adamanta puts on her customer service smile and walks over to the register. "Hi. What can I get for you?"

The woman hums for a bit looking over the menu before ordering a mocha and a chocolate muffin.

Adamanta rings her up and gets to work on the order. The other girl swinging on the balls of her feet as she waits. She then perks up a bit before gesturing to the flowers. "Oh! I almost forgot! These are for you guys! I just opened a flower boutique a couple stores down and thought it would be nice to get to know my shop neighbors!"

Adamanta blinks at her for a second and San walks over hearing the commotion and then picks up the bouquet. "Well aren't you a sweet thing!"

She smiles at them. "I'm Kuoxis by the way!"

Adamanta hands Kuoxis her order. "Adamanta and that one over there is San."

Kuoxis takes a sip of her coffee. "Very nice to meet both of you! You'll definitely be seeing more often." She waves and walks out the shop.

San places the flowers on one of the back counters and walks over to Adamanta. "She was cute."

Adamanta rolls her eyes at them as she cleans off the milk steamer. "I mean, yeah. You're not wrong. But you just like the idea of getting free flowers from someone."

San shrugs. "Perhaps. It's good to know that another small business opened up though. I might just check it out. Maybe get a little something for my favorite customer."

"How long have you been flirting with them now?"

San throws a towel at her. "Shut up! I will be successful one day!"

Adamanta laughs. "Sure Romeo. Whatever you say."

Kuoxis has a huge smile on her face as she walks back into her shop. Her front desk employee, Holland, quirks an eyebrow up. "What's got you all extra smiley today?"

"What you mean?" She takes a bits of the muffin and walks to the backroom.

Holland follows her. "Well, I know you're usually all smiles but I feel like today just now it's bigger."

Kuoxis starts working on some orders, ignoring them. "Did you do all of the reorganizing?"

Holland sighs and nods. "Yes. I did. You deliver all your gifts?"

Kuoxis finishes up on the bouquet she was working on. "Almost. Just two more shops!"

"I can help with that if you'd like."

Kuoxis grins at them. "Thank you! Maybe we can close early for the day and we can go out together!"

"Sounds like a plan."

The two gather the small vases and head out, locking the shop for the day. They then quickly walk over to a neighboring antique shop.

The shop is run by a tall well dressed person with light pink hair that was currently tied up in a ponytail. He looks at the two and raises an eyebrow. "Can I help you?"

Kuoxis nods and holds out the flowers. "Hi! We're your new business neighbors and wanted to give you these. I'm Kuoxis and this is Holland."

"Casamir." He takes the vase and nods at them. "Nice to meet you."

Holland starts look around. "This is a lovely shop."

"Thanks. I took it over not too long ago. It's calming working here and doing an occasional restoration project. I'm assuming you're the boutique that just opened?"

"Yup! Always wanted to open one! It was either that or a full plant nursery but I think a flower shop is more manageable. Plus I really like making arrangements."

Casamir nods and places the vase at the register counter. "Well thank you for stopping by. It was a pleasure to meet you two."

"You too!" Kuoxis and Holland wave goodbye as they walk out and head over to the tattoo parlor that Kuoxis is already familiar with.

"Hey Rhy!" Kuoxis walks up to the red haired man at the front counter and places the vase. "Guess who finally opened up shop!"

Rhy, the owner and one of the tattoo artists grins. "That's awesome! Congrats!"

"Oh! And this is my employee Holland." Kuoxis gestures to them as they give a small hello. "Rhy here has been tattooing me for years now and was the one to suggest the shop."

Rhy nods. "Yup! I'm glad you actually took my advice."

"Of course! Thank you for the heads up on the space! It's perfect! Please come visit sometime!"

Rhy chuckles. "I will. Don't worry. Speaking of business, are you going to make another appointment sometime soon? I think I made some good designs you'd like."

"Oh! Yeah! Let me just check my schedule and I'll let you know! I want to start getting my back done since my arms are basically almost covered."

Holland looks around at the art in the walls. "Did you draw all of these?"

Rhy nods. "Most of them! Some are from the other artists here. You interested?"

Holland shakes there head. "I'm good. Thank you though. I just like the drawings."

"Well if you change your mind, let me know."

Holland nods and Kuoxis hands Rhy the flowers. "Well, we should probably head out, just wanted to stop by and give you these. See you soon!"

Rhy takes them and waves them goodbye. "Have a goodnight!"

"You too!!" Kuoxis walks Holland to their car and then starts walking home, excited from the day and also with hopes of making some new friends.
