Work Text:

Izuku stared down at the unconscious body of the criminal. His eyes were cold, calculating, he blinked slowly. He was exhausted; he had been patrolling for so long something like twelve am until dawn. So that's 6 hours. He should probably sleep, but Midoriya never sleeps. He never tried to, at this point, his quirk made it harder to basically impossible.

Izuku felt a burning stare on his neck. Izuku sighed, “Eraser?”

“Correct, hope you don’t mind me dropping in.” Eraserhead jokes, it was hard to tell, he was talking in monotone. Like always.

“Are you going to take me to the station?” Izuku looked towards the hero, and Aizawa shook his head without hesitation.

“Why don’t you wait up on that roof and we can talk.”

Izuku thought about it, but ultimately said yes and turned his head down to his feet. In his mind his thoughts were all over the place, why would that hero want to talk to him, was this a trap? Izuku shoved his hands in his pockets and gripped his dagger to the point that his knuckles were white.

Aizawa tied up the petty criminal. He could tell that Rabbit was close to his breaking point. That boy looked so bone-deep exhausted. Shota just wanted to help him, but the boy was like a stray cat, he couldn’t get too close without getting scratched. The black-haired man pulled out his phone and dialed a familiar number,

“Hello?”

“Hey, Naomasa, I have a petty criminal on XXXXX.”

Naomasa sighed and hung up

Izuku heard all of that, Midoriya had learned all of the police codes, yet there was none, not one code word in that call. The greenette looked at the roof, he had to get away before the cops got there. Izuku scanned the alleyway and saw the fire escape. It was right behind him. He was supposed to wait for Eraserhead on the roof but, the same hero called the cops and the cops aren’t very friendly, in his professional opinion.

There were the sirens, they blared loudly in his ears, Izuku whipped around and shot up the fire escape. He couldn’t be taken to the police station, what would they think when they realize that Izuku was legally dead. He couldn’t let that happen. He always patrolled with Eraserhead so the hero had a lot of trust a little trust, not enough, though. It seemed like he only had one option. Kami, he couldn’t think straight, but he hadn’t slept in 2 days.

He finally got onto the rooftop, that wasn’t enough though he had to get away, especially because he heard Eraser climbing the fire escape quite quickly. Izuku ran forward as fast as his legs would let him. Midoriya was about to jump the next roof but he had to dodge Eraser’s capture weapon, so his balance was off.

His foot slipped, Izuku swallowed and closed his eyes as tight as possible. This had happened multiple times, but, this time it was different. He had a spectator, Izuku heard a scream and felt something graze his arm, it didn’t manage to grab him.

Izuku finally hit the ground, unlucky it didn’t kill him. He gurgled on some blood that was caught in his throat. He opened his eyes and he was in another alleyway with gross walls and floors, he was going to have bleed out in a gross alleyway, great.

A sob came from above him, Izuku’s eyes flickered around to see his dad Eraserhead. Midoriya blinked slowly, he was getting tired and cold. He was so cold.

“It’s ok you’re gonna be ok kiddo.” he continued, “Rabbit, please you can’t die.”

This was too much like Oboro for Aizawa’s liking. The boy in Shota’s arms gurgled in response. He got the message, ‘I'm going to die, aren't i?’ That question was clear even if it wasn't spoken out loud. It was surely hard to breathe with that mask on, Aizawa felt bad about it, but he wanted the vigilante to be as comfortable as possible in his last moments so he pulled Rabbit’s mask off then, he pulled Izuku’s hood down and ran his fingers through the dying boy's hair. Aizawa sobbed, his vigilante had managed to worm its way into his heart.

Aizawa noticed Rabbit had started shaking so he pulled the greenette towards his chest even more, the viridian eyes staring at him seemed to try and comfort him. What a hero he was, the dying one was comforting him. Shota kissed the bloody top of Izuku's head as the vigilante’s eyes started closing. Aizawa gasped and he begged, sobbed, screamed. For the boy to not go. His poor boy, he died in a dirty, gross alleyway.
