Shock.
The one word that could describe how Subz felt when he entered the room. He had seen Zam’s thinking boards before, yet the glowing red writing sprawled across the walls had a much more ominous feeling this time.
“Everyone is just tearing everyone apart and it’s all spiraling”
“They have so much gear it’s impossible to stop them”
“No matter what don’t drag Subz and Vitalasy down with you”
Maybe ominous wasn’t the right word. Reading more and more of the signs a new emotion was felt. Pain. Pure raw pain. Pain from the feeling that your actions were the ones that started a destructive chain of events. Pain from the feeling that you are putting the few people you hold dear into harms way. Pain from the feeling that once again you were not trusted. Pain from the burden of knowing it’s All. Your. Fault.
Subz sat in the middle of the room, just looking around. How was this the same person who had mere days beforehand spent hours in his room, laughing and goofing off with him and Planet. How was this the person who had started competing for having the “funnest” room in the base. How was this the person who found joy in trying to push him off of their walkways. How was this the person who Subz had never seen without a smile and how much more pain was hiding behind it.
Subz knew where Zam had come from, he knew everything that he had experienced and that’s why he took him in. He wanted Eclipse to be a safe space for Zam, yet somehow it still seemed as if it was anything but. He knew what he had to do.
If this was the only way Zam could communicate his feelings, then this was how Subz was going to communicate back. He needed to make something clear. Families are there for each other, and Eclipse was a family.
