Safer with You

Summary:

Mozart and his girlfriend both hate flights, but she has invited him on a trip and seem oddly comfortable for once. Her reason comes as a surprise to him.

Work Text:

Mozart already hated normal flights, but they had to be caught in a turbulence. Light, but that didn’t made him feel better.

His hold on his wife’s hand tightened as he stared out of the window. She’d been very helpful during the rest of the flight, always making sure he was feeling secure enough.

“Wolf!” Her own hold on him tightened too, her little more forceful tone making him turn around to look at her.

Amy hated flights almost as much as he did. She would be feeling the same way, if not worse, but all he saw was her giving him a comforting smile, before she closed her eyes and started humming a song, her thumb rubbing soothing circles on the back of his hand.

It was a song from one of her favorite games, that he always played for her when she was anxious. There wasn’t anything of note about this song in particular, but they came to associate it with peace. For him, especially because of her sweet voice. But she stopped short.

“You know,” Amy whispered, opening her eyes to look at him, “whenever I look at you, I immediately feel like everything is going to be okay, and I’m not afraid of even the greatest danger. You taught me that, with this song, the first time I was near a panic attack. It doesn’t mean I’m not afraid, but you make my fears manageable and insignificant, and I would like to do something for you, too. So, what do you need?”

Mozart was surprised at how often his wife still surprised him. He had noticed the change in her since that one time, but she had never told him it was because of him. For what he knew of Amy, she just had decided she had to grow stronger and bury her fears deeper in situations both were afraid of. For his sake, but not because of him.

It wasn’t like he didn’t feel safer by her side, too. Amy’s company had been the most important in keeping him calm until now. She underestimated the power she had over him, power that no one ever had and no one ever would.

His other hand cradled her cheek, and he gave her a soft kiss. Amy blushed in response, casting side glances around at the rest of the first-class passengers, who were far from paying them any mind.

“You are the only thing I need.” He said in a low tone. “Your presence is enough to make me feel safe. I still lose sight of it at times, but never doubt these words.” Mozart kissed her again and this time she didn’t resist, her free hand coming to rest over his. “Although that isn’t an invitation for you to plan unnecessary trips. I only came with you today because it is Valentine’s and you were excited about it.”

Amy laughed. Mozart would have complained if her laugh didn’t make him feel even better. Such a melodious sound.

“Fine. I had no plans for unnecessary trips, anyway. I just thought of somewhere special to go today.”

“What kind of place?” Mozart hoped it wasn’t too crowded, but Amy would never throw even more uncomfortable situations at him.

“It is a surprise, and we’re almost landing, anyway.” This time, she was the one to kiss him. “I love you, Wolf.”

For now, he only kissed her, but later he would make sure she knew just how much he loved her.
