Work Text:
The one day Jean wasn’t exactly looking forward to was approaching. He’d been given a job offer he could hardly refuse and he was moving in with someone he’d only spoken to over text.
From what he gathered, her name was Pieck. Her old roommate had recently moved out and so she’d been searching for a new one. They’d met through a mutual friend, Annie, who happened to be dating one of Jean’s best friends.
He eventually arrived at the apartment building, shooting Pieck a message before hauling his boxes up the stairs. The buildings elevator had been broken for a while, and pieck had warned him beforehand.
When he reached the door, he dropped the boxes by the door before giving the door a firm knock. Preparing himself to meet his new roommate.
“Hey! You must be Jean!” Pieck greeted with a smile the second she whipped the door open.
Jean took in the sight before him, she was breathtaking to say the least.
“H-hi Yeah, Pieck, right?” He shook her hand that she’d held out in front of him and smiled back.
“Here, let men help you with those.” She offered.
“Oh thanks, they’re heavy so be careful.” Jean picked up the rest of the boxes and followed Pieck to his room, setting his stuff down on the floor.
“You’ll have to ignore the pink stickers, we couldn’t get them off when my old roommate moved out.” Pieck chuckled.
“That’s not a problem, Pink is my favourite colour.” He joked. “I’m just gonna go grab the last box.”
Pieck giggled at his comment, making him blush a little.
“Sure ok.” Pieck spoke as she returned to the kitchen where she was previously.
She took a moment to compose herself. Pulling out her phone to text Annie.
-You didn’t tell me he was cute!?- Pieck texted.
-Haha horse face? Yeah no. I didn’t take you as a simp tho Pieck lol- Annie texted back shortly after.
-Not a simp!- -The boxes were fucking heavy too and he carried it like it was nothing!?- Pieck replied.
-He used to be a boxer, that’s why. If he messes with you, il, kick his ass.- Annie replied, followed by an angry face emoji.
-Sure sure, gotta go, he’s back.- Pieck shot back before putting her phone back in her pocket.
“So, any rules I need to follow?” Jean asked as he closed the front door.
“Uh no rules really, just let me know if you plan to bring anyone back?” Pieck asked.
“I don’t plan to do anything of the sort, but sure if I do.” Jean chucked.
The two talked back and forth for a while, mostly getting to know each other to make it less awkward.
“Holy shit, I had no idea you were a scientist.” Jean exclaimed.
“Oh yeah, it’s always been a passion of mine.” Pieck replied.
“So what do you do?” Jean asked. “At work I mean.”
“I basically create new drugs and stuff, pharmaceuticals is the right word tho.” Pieck told him.
“That’s so cool.” Jena leaned back in his seat taking in what she said.
“Mhm, so what do you do?” She asked.
“I’m a mechanic. Came here for a job offer actually.” Jean told her.
“Oh I see, is it that place down by that tattoo parlour?” She asked.
“I believe so, yeah.” Jean replied.
“Cool, cool.” Pieck nodded along. “Ugh its late, I’m gonna call it a night.”
“Sure thing, think I will too actually.” Jean sighed.
“You need any help setting up?” Peick asked with a smile.
“Nah ill be fine, thank you tho. Good night, Pieck.” Jean smiled back.
“Good Night Jean.” Pieck replied before skipping off to her bedroom.
Jean headed to his own not long after.
