Chapter Text
Plot: We all know the dynamic. Dr. Eggman is the narcissistic madman trying to shape the world in his image, Sonic is the carefree spirit stopping him. But what if that wasn't the case? In another time, in another place, Dr. Ivo Robotnik is a simple science teacher. When he sees a mysterious portal, he can't help but try to study it despite his friend Stone's reservations, and the duo get sucked in, getting stranded on Mobius, a planet of animals ruled Sonic the Hedgehog, an egotist with only care for having fun, no matter how destructive it may be. Robotnik is quickly imprisoned and given the nickname Eggman by the blue jerk while Stone evades it, managing to meet up with the Freedom Fighters to hopefully save his bestie… though "Eggman" (having decided to appropriate the name to further piss off Sonic) escapes pretty quickly and starts inspiring hope amongst people. Things get wilder from there.
Other Notable Characters:
Miles "Tails" Prower and Amy Rose: Sonic's personal assistants. However, it is pretty clear that the passive aggressive Tails has no true loyalties to Sonic and works for him solely because for all his big talk about overthrowing the Blue Blur behind his back, Tails is a coward. Amy has the opposite problem; she is a sycophant with a clear infatuation with Sonic that she can't seem to process the fact it will never be reciprocated, willing to do anything or take any harm for so much of a "good job" from her crush.
Rouge the Bat: Head of the Rebellion. Formerly a lowly thief, the rise of Sonic made her reconsider her life path and she was the biggest thorn in his side prior to Eggman and Stone showing up. Though sarcastic and often a little annoyed by Eggman's eccentricities, she is a good leader who wants the best for everyone.
Metal Sonic: Created by Tails in a scheme to overthrow Sonic, Metal quickly turned against his master after seeing how childish and needlessly destructive The war was, Opting to hide out in the jungle. However, Eggman found him and managed to convince him saving the world was worth it, so he becomes a rebellion member.
Knuckles the Echidna: Sonic's top general. While Amy and Tails are way too pathetic to be concerned about and the rest of Sonic's flunkies are worrying but ultimately not insurmountable once you get to know their weaknesses, Knuckles is a completely no-nonsense wall of muscle who gives everyone pause when he shows up. Thankfully, Knuckles is technically a freelance agent, meaning he will only show up when payed to do so for as long as he is contracted to, so many times the heroes tend to survive just because Knuckles allotted time to have to try and kill them ran out or they found some way to pay him more than Sonic to leave.
Shadow the Hedgehog: Sonic's half-brother. Though grouchy and prone to isolation, he does care about people quite a bit, particularly Rouge. For obvious reasons, Shadow clings onto hope Sonic can be shown the error of his ways and he frequently can derail plans out of worry they may kill Sonic (though he seems to have no issue with just horribly injuring the guy).
Belle the Tinkerer: During a period where Ivo was brainwashed into working for Sonic, he created Belle as an assistant. Belle has abandonment issues as a result of Eggman leaving to the Rebellion without her when the brainwashing was undone (he genuinely didn't know he made her as a result of not remembering anything he did during the time) and is rather misanthropic, openly admitting to hating organic life and working with Sonic because her programming won't let her directly try to kill him or anyone associated with him. The only person she seems to like is Amy, and even that is complicated by the fact the two have a pretty blatant "Harley and Ivy when Harley was still with Joker" type relationship (AKA The two are in love and even seem to be dating for all intents and purposes but one won't stop crawling back to her terrible excuse for a partner, putting a strain on things).
