"I can buy my own ice cream, you know." A playful grin plays on Fuuma's lips as he brings the ice cream cone Seishirou's just purchased for him up to his mouth, taking that first delicious lick of his frozen treat.
"But thank you." Naturally, he isn't complaining.
"Of course," Seishirou replies, a gentle smile of his own tugging at the corner of his mouth. "For the record, I am perfectly aware you don't need me to purchase anything for you, but I think you can indulge me and allow me to buy desserts for a sweet boy."
It takes an obscene amount of effort, but somehow Fuuma manages not to break down in a fit of laughter. He takes a lot of amusement in the way Seishirou teases him, calling him things like 'sweet' or a 'good boy'. One time, Seishirou succeeded in sending him into a bout of hysterics when he went as far as to imply he was 'cute'. Fuuma knows Seishirou isn't being serious. He isn't sure why, but Seishirou seems to enjoy playfully messing with him. Sometimes it feels as if Seishirou's testing him, pushing little by little and seeing how far he will let him go.
Fuuma doesn't mind. He doubts Seishirou means to go as far as to make him snap, but if he does, he's setting himself up for disappointment. Fuuma has grown fond of Seishirou's teasing. He will never admit it, but he likes the attention.
Once he’s gotten over Seishirou’s current line of jest, Fuuma’s gaze falls to Seishirou’s hands and immediately takes notice of what he isn’t holding.
“You didn’t get anything for yourself?”
Following suit, Seishirou looks down at his own hands as if it’s only now just dawned on him that he did in fact, not get himself any ice cream. “Hm? I suppose not.” With a noncommittal shrug of his shoulders, Seishirou takes a step closer to him. In doing so, he invades the personal boundary that most consider appropriate, but those sorts of limitations ceased to exist between them a while back. Fuuma can't remember when that came into play; it just happens so naturally between them that he fails to register Seishirou’s presence as ever being too close.
“It must have slipped my mind when someone asked me to surprise him,” Seishirou asserts, clearly implying that he might not have forgotten if only Fuuma could have made up his mind before he went to make his purchase.
“Really?” Fuuma lifts a curious brow, his tone making it clear that he doesn’t believe a word of Seishirou’s accusation.
“I was preoccupied with an important decision.” His lips curl into a knowing grin. “You still haven’t told me if I’ve made a good choice for you.”
Fuuma smirks. “I’m not going to answer a question you already know the answer to.”
Seishirou isn’t fooling anyone. The man loves his sweets just as much as he does — he would not ‘forget’ to get something for himself even if Fuuma had sent him with a specific flavor in mind.
No, Seishirou is after something, and Fuuma is only too happy to play along.
With Seishirou being so close, Fuuma only has to move his arm a bit until it’s in front of Seishirou, presenting him with the dessert held in his hand. “Have some. The addition of cookie dough to the chocolate chips is a nice touch.”
Fuuma can’t bring himself to act like he’s inconvenienced in being ‘coerced’ to share, not when he enjoys it so much.
Seishirou's eyes meet his own as he leans forward to accept Fuuma's offer. His tongue gives the treat a long, slow lick from the lip of the cone all the way to the top. The fiery gaze of a predator stares into his soul as Seishirou bites into the ice cream, taking a chunk of cookie dough and a few chocolate chips before pulling back.
Fuuma gives Seishirou a moment to savor his bite before asking, "What do you think?"
Humming softly, Seishirou appears as if he needs a second to think about it before answering. "It's good, but I suspect it's made better by the company I share with."
A tender smile graces Fuuma's lips as he takes another lick of the cone. He doesn't answer, but the way he offers Seishirou another taste proves he agrees with the sentiment.
After the second lick, Fuuma takes the smallest step closer, making it easier for them to share. Being so close, it’s impossible not to notice, or in their case feign ignorance of just how invasive they’ve both become of each other’s personal space, but neither of them cares. They continue to enjoy the ice cream together, trying to finish it before the cream starts to melt — and they nearly succeed.
Despite his and Seishirou’s best efforts, the ice cream begins to melt after a few moments. Inevitably, a trail of cream drips from the cone and dribbles down Fuuma’s hand. He thinks nothing of it and takes another bite. He can wipe his hand clean later once they’re finished.
Seishirou, however, isn’t so carefree. His deft fingers wrap around Fuuma’s wrist, forming a light, but secure hold on his arm. Without explanation, Seishirou brings his hand up to his lips where his tongue once again darts out and laps away the trail of melted ice cream. Just like before, his actions are purposely slow and his gaze stays trained on Fuuma. A flash of arrogance flashes through his eyes as if daring Fuuma to do something about it.
And of course, Fuuma does nothing. A mischievous smile tugs at the corner of his lips as he allows Seishirou to do as he pleases.
When he’s finished, Seishirou frees his wrist and offers him a half-hearted excuse.
“I couldn’t let any of such a delicious treat go to waste.”
“Naturally,” he replies, finishing off the last of the cone. After tossing it in the nearby waste bin, Fuuma’s hand falls to his side, his fingers brushing over the back of Seishirou's hand along the way. Now, there really is no excuse for them to stand so close together, but even now, Fuuma hesitates to step back.
Being with Seishirou brings him a sense of warmth — something entirely foreign to Fuuma, yet he can’t help but embrace it. He intends to stay as long as he can and allow Seishirou to make the move that separates them — but Seishirou seems to be of the same mindset because he doesn’t act either.
They simply stand there for a few moments, enjoying each other’s company for as long as possible. It’s not as if they won’t see each other later; there’s work to be done and they should be getting back to it.
However, for a little while their objectives cease to be top priorities for either of them. Instead, Seishirou makes him an offer he can’t refuse.
“Would you like to go for a walk?” Seishirou gestures before them, indicating that he has no particular destination in mind. They’ll end up wherever the sidewalk takes them.
Fuuma's gaze softens as he takes a step forward. “That sounds nice.”
Fuuma and Seishirou easily fall in line with each other as they begin their small trek, their hands ghosting over each other along the way.
