Chapter Text
“You need friends, Touya.”
Another day at school, another day in Hell. His backpack made him bend over backwards, filled to the max with homework and textboooks. He had complained about back pain to his teachers so many times, but they gave him strained smiles and “Oh! You’ll love it!” faces that made him growl.
“What, Father?” Touya sneered. “Am I ruining your prestigious reputation?”
Enji glared at him, and he swore his eyes could light a fire. “Yes. You are, actually, son.”
“Aw. Now you’re gonna add son to it to not sound more like a jerk,” Touya mocked. “I don’t need friends, Father. I’m fine on my own.”
Enji’s hand gripped Touya’s collar, slowly rising him above ground. A dark fire danced in his eyes as hardened his glare. “Are you refusing to listen to me again after last time, Touya? Your brother wouldn’t do that.”
Touya’s voice hitched in his throat. His defiance died. “You know exactly why he wouldn’t.”
Enji cackled. “Sure I do. Say it.”
Dropping him to the ground, Enji dusted off his hands , gave Touya one final glare, and walked back to his oak table. The silence grew louder, becoming suffocating. It was time to go upstairs — before he ruined everything by questioning why he didn’t hit him like usual.
He wanted him to get friends? Fine. He’d get the best of friends. Ones that Father even couldn’t believe he got.
