Running Circles In My Head

Summary:

It's fine.
Bucky's fine, he swears.

Notes:

I've been beating my head against the wall trying to get some other fics to finish being written but in the meanwhile I figured I'd fill a spot on my Winterhawk Bingo Card that I've sorta been wishy-washy on actually touching. Get out of my comfort zone and maybe knock something lose.

Work Text:

It’s fine. Bucky’s fine.

He’s going to punch Deadpool next time he opened his mouth about it.

Sure, yeah, he’s only been pining over Clint for the past... year.

God, he’s so futzed.

He’s apparently not even subtle about the someone-kicked-his-puppy look Wolverine tells him he has whenever he sees Clint with Jessica. It doesn’t even hurt properly either. Before everything, at least heartache had the gall to sting for a few days then disappear. Now it’s a splinter against a nerve that makes it difficult to ignore.

Bucky wants to bitch to Daisy about it. But she’s futzed off to where ever for the time being. He’s not allowed to know. It sucks. Clint’s too wrapped up in his own mistakes to even notice. And yeah, Bucky does celebrate a little when Clint fumbles his relationship with Jessica. It’s false hope when Clint shows up at his apartment extremely drunk after the fact. There’s only a lot of self-pity involved until Clint passes out on Bucky’s couch. Bucky only considers telling Clint that he loves him twice during the whole ordeal. He’s honestly impressed.

He’s already disappeared by the time Bucky’s up and moving the next morning.

Clint disappears completely after that actually. At least, Bucky thinks, it wasn’t just from him.

The pain changes then too, though. It’s closer to the pain that came and went when it came to Natalia. Out if sight, but still some lingering ghost plucking on his heart.

Clint doesn’t even have the tact to reappear gracefully. He pulls himself into Bucky’s apartment in the middle of the night telling him that he’s gone and futzed up again. Bucky, with a splinter jabbing at a nerve, hauls Clint into his apartment, patches him up and listens. It’s the best he’s going to get.
