Work Text:

There are two kinds of love sickness: the mild kind that shows up as a feeling of contentment, and the desperate kind that comes with feelings of longing. Falcon isn't really sure which category this is, but he’s pretty sure it’s the latter.

He had heard about the eldest Beaks son, all from various sources; his parents, the Beaks girls, even the tabloids on the occasional chance he glanced at the bright covers in line at the grocery store. Mark was too smart for his own good, deeply devoted to his sisters (not that he would ever admit it out loud), jumping from one relationship to another, always making an appearance at some celebrity party and leaving in a state of dishevelment, and somehow how always adorably boyish, all around perfect—not that Falcon had much experience when it came to knowing such things, though.

And then the day arrived of when Mark Beaks was to arrive home from yet another boarding school, (somewhere in Europe, he believed). He had opened the door, expecting…he didn’t really know what. He hadn’t expected to be met with a starry eyed parrot who had looked him up and down a few too many times. A backpack slung over one shoulder while his sweater hung down to his bicep on the other side. A Loose T-shirt that dipped a little too low on his chest that made Falcon’s heart rate speed up just a little bit. And then he winked, and Falcon couldn’t control the way his mouth went dry, like a poor soul lost in the desert. This didn’t happen, not to Falcon at least.

It was easy enough to understand how the tabloids found him fascinating; Falcon could only imagine what it must be like to have such an active and sociable personality, to somehow attract every pair of eyes in the vicinity. But Falcon has never been particularly attracted to charming boys who made themselves available, no matter how many times Mark had winked at him that first day.

Or any time after.

In fact, Falcon started finding it less odd that Mark always flirted with him than he did find it weirdly endearing that Mark still flirted with him.

But as he lay awake that night, replaying the events of the week in his mind, he came to a startling realization.

He had a fucking crush on Mark Beaks.
