Work Text:
It was the night before Valentines Day, and Reki knew he had to do something for it. Lots of setting up later, he finally was able to take a sigh of relief. A romantic picnic after school, then a sleepover at his house with movies, cuddling, and everything sweet. And a lot of gifts of course. It was his first year where he wasn't single on the day of love, and it only made him more thrilled, so much it had annoyed all of the people who dared to talk to him. He was giddy, and could barely fall asleep. But then he did, only having the sweetest of dreams. In the morning he woke up to his alarm, him immediately groaning as he hit it with his hand to shut it up. He was still coming to reality from the dream he had, but it didn't take long for the boy to jump out of bed when he realized what day it was. Finally, Valentines Day. He got ready for school, a little upset it wasn't a day off but he shook the little negatives out. He would get to see Langa today, and seeing Langa was always a good thing. He went to get breakfast and his bento, along with a special gift for Langa in his bag. Then he was out, skating to where him and his boyfriend usually meet up to go to school together. Langa was also looking forward to this day, a gentle smile on his face and a box of chocolates in his hands as he skated to the same spot. The spot was special to them, and once the two saw each other their cheeks were immediately colored in deep pinks and reds. Instead of just skating together, they stopped to hang out alone for a moment. "Happy Valentines day Langa!" Reki cheered, smiling widely at his boyfriend. It was a good day, nothing could change it. "Hey Reki, happy Valentines Day" Langa replied more gently, relaxed as usual. But the other was glad, he didn't want Langa to act energetic if he wasn't, he knew he cared and loved Reki just the same. This was proven with Langa pressing a small kiss on Reki's cheek, causing Reki to blush more in response before he spoke, "Good day good day! Ready to head to school?" Langa nodded, starting up his skateboard again along with Reki. They raced to school, Reki winning with a loud cheer that almost gathered other people's attention. Though things easily calmed down, like usual. Then things felt normal, that was until lunch when they planned to exchange gifts. Reki had gotten Langa new noise canceling earbuds and his favorite candy, and Langa got Reki a heart box of chocolates along with a silly drawing of the two of them. Reki thought it was cute, despite the other not being the best at drawing, it was cute. The both were smiley by the end of the gift exchange, but something popped up in Langa's head. "Wait- I have one more thing" he spoke as he dug a bit through his bag, taking out a card and smiling as he handed it to his boyfriend. Reki smiled in return, starting to read it. It was the best way Langa expressed himself, through writing.
"Reki, Happy Valentines Day. I know we have been waiting for this moment forever, this day. I am so happy to be with you, I am so in love with you it could spread a fire. I hope we have a good day together, and that we will continue to love each other. Love, Langa."
Reki smiled, putting the card with everything else, hugging Langa. "Thanks Langa..you're the best. I will always love you." Langa returned the hug, comforted by this thought, and by how much Reki enjoyed the card. He never wanted this moment to end, he wished to stay with Reki forever. Though Reki's mind was starting to think of something else. Something Langa wrote when they first got together. “The love is so true to us, my heart is on fire with your love. Reki, I love you so much. Please...please stay with me” that is what Langa wrote to Reki the day they got together. It was something monumental, something new. Reki couldn't let go of the letter until they got home from school, and he had placed it on his desk that day. It has been there. And the flame in Reki's heart for Langa's heart never stopped, he always loved him. And fuck, that wouldn't end any time soon. It made Reki chuckle, just a bit. He could never forget the day he asked Langa to be his boyfriend, and how lucky he is to be with him now. "What are you laughing about?" Langa asked out of curiosity, raising a brow as his eyes rested on Reki. "Oh! Just how I remember when we first got together and you wrote me a cute letter." Reki replied, opening the box of chocolates Langa gave him and eating one. Langa knew which one he meant, a little embarrassed as the pink in his cheeks rose. "Oh yeah, that one.." That topic wouldn't be mentioned the whole day. Just as Reki planned, after school they had a picnic and then went to Reki's house and had a sleepover. "Tangled is better" Langa proclaimed, resting as he scrolled through Disney+ to find them a movie to watch. Reki shook his head, pointing at the television. "No no! The Little Mermaid is better!" Langa sighed softly, smiling. "How about Koyomi decides?" "Koyomi! but she's my sister!" Reki whined, knowing his sister knows what he does and doesn't like. "What about me?" coincidentally, Koyomi was in the kitchen getting some water. "Which movie should Reki and I watch? Tangled or The Little Mermaid?" Koyomi laughed just a little, before smiling as she replied, “Tangled of course.” Reki whined and Langa silently cheered as he put on the movie, Koyomi going back to her room. “You’re lucky I love you,” Reki joked, kissing Langa’s cheek. He smiled, resting his head on his boyfriend’s shoulder in return. “And I love you just the same” he softly spoke as he put the remote down when the movie started, looking at the screen. The movie started, and as time went on the two got more sleepy as time got later. By the end of the movie the two were cuddling, asleep. Though Langa got woken up fully by the credits song popping up, a gentle smile on his face as he looked over at Reki. This was the best day. He turned off the television, picking up the sleeping Reki. He walked into Reki's room, lying him down on his bed before tucking him in. And before Langa lied down himself, he looked around for a bit. He loved how much decor was in his boyfriend's room, and more was added each time he was there. Though when looking he found a dusty piece of paper on it. He picked it up, wiping up all the dust. It was the letter he wrote that day. There was more to it.
"Reki, thanks for setting my heart alight. I will remember this forever, thanks for being mine whether we stay together or not. You have lit up my life, changed me in so many positive ways. It is the love burning, it set a flame in me. I am grateful for that. I love you. - Langa"
