Work Text:
His friends' voices started to become white noise to him a long time ago. He had woken up 3 hours earlier than normal so he could set up the server in time. He was on the verge of passing out on his very uncomfortable gaming chair.
He couldn't though, that clip would sure be on LSF. And he would rather die than become an LSF streamer.
He just had to survive 60 minutes more. He was almost done. He could feel a headache starting to form. The speed of the chat and the music and the voices of his friends and the beaming stream lights were starting to take their toll on the man.
Right as he was about to kill Bill4_ for stealing his nukes on the server, he could hear the front door opening.
"I'm streaming!"
To be honest the man had no idea who had just arrived, probably his dad. His dad might've just come to ask what he would like to eat or maybe if he is planning on taking out the overfilled trashbag today.
But he was wrong. As wide motorway blasted through his headphones a figure walked into the main room of the extension. Tubbo raised his head to look at the person who he thought was his dad. Turns out it was the guy he had not spoken to in the past year, the guy he still very much liked.
The shock was most likely visible on his face as a nervous smile grew on Ranboo's face. Ranboo raised his right hand which held a pair of extra keys that Tubbo kept under a plant pot next to the door.
Weird that he remembered that.
In Ranboo's left hand was a plastic bag that said Tesco in bright red letters. Tubbo felt overwhelmed by the fact that he knew that the taller had shopped at the small corner store near Tubbo's house. It has always been his favourite Tesco. Something about it being cozy and not too overwhelming.
Huh.
Tubbo snapped out of it, realising that he was still very much live and in a call with his friends. He quickly looked towards his monitors and apologised.
"Sorry chat, i got distracted a bit."
"Ooh who walked to the room Toby? Did someone take your breath away with their arrival?"
Billzo joked as Tubbo gave Ranboo a side eye.
"Knock it off, Bill. Welp, that's gonna be the stream for today. Sorry chatters i was supposed to go on but i feel like im gonna die of this headache thats starting so.."
Tubbo said, drifting off towards the end of the sentence.
"So yeah, thank you bois for hanging out and thank you so much for all the subs today, i really do appreciate it. Bye guys, I'll speak to you later. Buh bye."
First he pressed the infamous 'End stream' button and then he quickly left the vc before any of his friends would notice his slightly weird demeanor. He stood up and looked at the tall nervous man who was standing on the balls of his feet.
"So, boober man, what are you doing here?"
"Oh- Uh, i wanted to see you..?"
That made no sense in Tubbo's brain, the two of them hadn't spoken in months. Tubbo is pretty sure a year has passed since they last talked.
"Bossman, you're gonna have to be a bit more specific. We haven't talked in ages and suddenly on a random day in February you barge in?"
Tubbo wasn't mad, he was just shocked. And maybe a little bit interested about the reasoning for this sudden violation of privacy.
"I um, I got you these."
Ranboo said, as he opened the plastic Tesco bag and took out a bouquet of pink tulips. Tubbo's favourite.
Now, the shock was showing on Tubbo's face for sure. In his mind he was trying to piece together what was going on. Maybe Ranboo wanted a favour from him.
Tubbo pushed his own feelings back and took the flowers from the taller man's shaking hand.
"Thank you, Ranboo. They're lovely. Now what do you want?"
Tubbo's response seemed to confuse Ranboo.
"Uh, what do you mean 'what do i want'?"
"Well, you got me flowers on a random day, after we haven't talked in ages? So you must want something? Do you want me to wingman you or something?"
"So you really don't remember what day it is?"
"What do you mean bossman?"
To Tubbo, today was a normal day, he didn't have any Tubnet meetings so he had decided to stream. Today wasn't anything special.
"Toby, it's 14th of February."
Oh. He hadn't remembered that. So it's valentines day, huh?
"Ah, yes. Valentines day. That doesn't explain your arrival though."
"Toby for god's sake do i have to spell it out for you?"
Ranboo sounded annoyed, Tubbo didn't understand why. Ranboo's hands were shaking and hhe was fidgeting with his fingers.
"You might not wanna do that, I'm not that great in spelling."
Ranboo laughed, and seemed to calm down a little bit. Tubbo was still more confused than ever but wasn't he always?
"Tubbo, i like you!"
Brother what? Tubbo's brain malfunctioned right as those words came out his mouth. He couldn't believe it. This must be a horrible prank.
"Yep, of course you do. Now can we knock off this prank, it's not funny."
Ranboo deflated.
"It's not a prank Toby! I've liked you for ages and i didn't talk to you for a long time because i tried to get rid of these emotions but they never left. God, I might love you Toby."
Oh. Now this doesn't feel like a prank.
"Oh."
