On the evening of January 8th, 2003, Bette Porter and Tina Kennard held together a gathering of friends and family to celebrate the love they shared and were wedded on that night. Reading their vows, promising to dedicate their lives and their love to each other, and exchanging bands as proof of their love to one another.
The night was spent on board the Queen Elizabeth II, a small private cruise ship that sailed the coast of California’s beaches. Far away enough that it felt like the newly wed couple were in their own private bubble of pure bliss and comfort with friends and family.
Bette and Tina spent the evening of their wedding sipping from champagne flutes as their bodies pressed closely together, unable to separate from one another for even a second. They swayed together in unison to soft jazz music, performed live by the cruise’s talented band of musicians.
“L,” Bette whispered in a singsong voice against Tina’s ear. “Is for the way you look at me.”
“Hmm?” Tina pulled back a little to look at her newly wed wife.
Bette smirked and continued to sing along to the singer covering Frank Sinatra’s Love Me. “O, is for the only one I see.” Bette leaned forward and gently pecked the tip of Tina’s nose.
“V, is very, very extraordinary,” Bette pressed her lips to both sides of Tina’s cheeks as she sang along, enunciating the ‘very, very’ with the kisses.
“E, is even more than anyone that you adore,” Bette gently pressed her lips to her wife’s soft, crimson lips. Tina hummed, smiling into the kiss and wrapped her arms around her wife’s waist.

Love is more than just a game for two
Bette cupped Tina’s face into the palms of her hands, deepening the kiss. She could taste the sweetness of the champagne on her wife and she hummed softly. So in love and enthralled by her beautiful wife.

Take my heart and please don't break it
Tina pulled back enough from the kiss to whisper against Bette’s lips, “Take me to our room.”
Without hesitation, Bette took her wife’s hand in hers and guided her out of the reception room, down the winding halls of the cruise ship until they finally reached their room.
The pair spent the night making love, exploring each other with a new prospective as a newly wed couple. Their wedding bands gleamed together in the low light of candlelight. Exchanges of ‘I love you’ and other promises were made and whispered back and forth as the night drew long.
