It was peaceful and quiet in the apartment of The Forgers. Bond was sleeping on his favorite rug. Even though Loid bought him a giant dog bed to sleep in, Bond preferred the rug. The Great Pyrenees's tail began to wag when the sound of footsteps started approaching the door. Bond lifted his head to see the door being unlocked and opened. He got up and went to greet his family when he suddenly stopped. His tail stopped wagging when he heard sobbing sounds coming from Anya.
"What is she so upset about?" Bond thought
Anya continued to sob as they entered. Loid closed the front door as Yor held Anya in her arms, trying to comfort her.
"Anya are you sure you checked your room?" asked Loid
"Yes, I'm positive! That's the first thing I did before we went out looking for him!" she cried
"Don't worry, I'm sure Mr. Chimera is fine," said Yor
"No mama, you don't understand! Mr. Chimera and I are always together. He's out there all alone," sobbed Anya
"Anya, why is Mr. Chimera so important to you?" asked Loid
"Mommy…Mommy gave me Mr. Chimera before…she died!" she cried loudly
Anya continued to cry as Yor and Loid tried to comfort her and calm her down. Bond watched as Loid took Anya in his arms and the family went into Anya's room. He tilted his head and then sat down.
"No wonder she's upset. Mr. Chimera and Anya always played together and went on missions. I wonder what happened to him," Bond thought
After a while, Loid and Yor came out of Anya's room. They closed her door and both sighed.
"Loid, what are we going to do?" asked Yor
"I don't know. I never realized how attached she was to Mr. Chimera," he replied
"It was a gift from your late wife. How did you not realize that?"
"Oh…um…you see my late wife got Anya lots of toys, but I didn't know she favored Mr. Chimera the most. I just forgot."
"Oh, I see. Well, is there any way we can replace him?"
"No. Even if we did find a replacement, Anya will know right away that it isn't Mr. Chimera."
"Then I guess the only thing we can do is keep looking for Mr. Chimera until he shows up."
Loid and Yor walked into the living room where Bond was. He began wagging his tail again.
"Hi Bond," said Loid
"Hello Bond. Have you been a good boy while we were gone?" asked Yor
Bond responded by giving her a few kisses. She laughed and stroked Bond's head. Loid and Yor then sat on the couch. Bond looked at them and then looked at the front door.
"Mr. Chimera is out there and I have to find him," he thought
Bond had to get Loid or Yor to take him outside. He went into the hallway, picked up the leash with his mouth, and then walked back to them. Bond dropped the leash in Loid's lap and then looked up at him.
"Not now Bond. We're not going for a walk right now," said Loid as he set the leash aside
"Maybe he has to go," said Yor
"I took him on a potty run before we went out to look for Mr. Chimera."
"Well maybe he has to go again, or he just wants to go for a walk now."
Bond tilted his head and then walked away from Loid and Yor as they continued to talk. He had to get outside. Bond looked around until he spotted a big potted plant. He got an idea, even though it might get him in trouble. Before proceeding, Bond looked over at Loid and Yor and he let out a few barks.
"Be quiet Bond! We'll go for a walk later," said Loid annoyed
Bond then went over to the big potted plant, gave it a few good sniffs, and then got into position. He raised his hind leg and began to pee on the plant. It took a few moments for Loid and Yor to notice. They both immediately shot up from the couch.
"NO BOND!" shouted Yor
"BOND STOP THAT!" yelled Loid
They immediately rushed over, and Bond put his leg down. He knew he was in trouble, but it was the only way for him to get outside.
"You know better than to do that in the apartment!" scolded Loid
"Hey, don't get mad at him. I told you he had to go," said Yor
"Yor, will you please take him out on another potty run? I can't deal with this right now."
"Sure. Do you want me to take him for a walk too?"
"That's fine."
As Loid sat back on the couch rubbing his head, Yor grabbed Bond's leash and clipped it onto his collar. Bond's tail was wagging faster than before.
"Finally, I get to go outside, and the master lady is taking me!" He thought
"Come on Bond, let's go," said Yor
She opened the front door and Bond rushed out. This surprised Yor, but she kept a good grip on his leash. She then closed the door behind her. Once outside, Bond sniffed the air and pulled Yor into one direction.
"Whoa, take it easy boy," she said
As they walked, Bond made a few pit-stops along the way. If it was Loid walking him, he would have been super annoyed. He likes to make Bond's walk and potty runs really quick. Yor, however, just lets Bond take his time. As they walked, Bond picked up a familiar scent. He stopped and sniffed the air a few times.
"What is it boy?" asked Yor
Bond knew that scent. It was Mr. Chimera! Suddenly, Bond bolted forward and charged in the direction of the scent. This caused Yor to lose her grip on the leash.
"BOND, COME BACK!" she shouted
"Sorry master lady, but I must get Mr. Chimera for Anya. I'll be back later," Bond thought
Yor tried to give chase, but it was no use. She was fast, but Bond was much faster. He continued to run until he came to a giant park. He stopped again and sniffed around. The scent was getting stronger, and it was coming from the wooded area. Bond took off again in the direction.
(BOND'S P.O.V.)
It wasn't long till I spotted Mr. Chimera, but he was being dragged by squirrels. Ugh I hate them so much! Why did it have to be squirrels? I started approaching them rather quickly.
"Hey! Give Mr. Chimera back!" I demanded
"Hey, we found him," one squirrel said
"That makes him ours," said the other
"Mr. Chimera belongs to little master. She is very upset," I explained
"Well then little master shouldn't have lost this Mr. Chimera in the first place," said the squirrel
"She must be really stupid," said the other.
The squirrels began to laugh as I started to growl. I bared my fangs at them, showing them that I wasn't kidding around. That does it! Nobody talks about Anya like that and gets away with it. I charged at the squirrels as they ran dropping Mr. Chimera. I chased and barked at them for a while until they both climbed a small tree.
"Nice try," said one of the squirrels
"But you can't get us now," said the other
As they continued to taunt me, I circled the tree until I spotted a low branch. I stood on my hind legs and grabbed the low branch with my mouth. Slowly, I bent the small tree down. The squirrels seemed a little surprised.
"Hey, what are you doing?" one of them asked
"Giving you a taste of your own medicine," I replied with a mouth full
"Come on, we were just kidding around. Can't you take a joke?" the other squirrel asked
When the tree was bent back as far as it would go, I released the low branch and the tree sprung forward sending those pesky squirrels flying. They didn't go very far, but it was an awesome sight to see. That's what they get for taking Mr. Chimera and bad-mouthing Anya. I snorted and then turned around to retrieve Mr. Chimera. When I got back to where Mr. Chimera was, two guys had picked him up and were throwing him around. I immediately ran over and started barking.
"Whoa, check it out. It's a dog!" one of them said
"I can see that," said the other
I continued to bark as they approached me. I tried pawing at the guy that had Mr. Chimera. He looked at the doll and then looked at me.
"Is this yours?" the guy asked
I barked in response and continued to bark. The two guys looked at each other and started to laugh. I didn't like where this was going.
"Hey, I bet he wants to play fetch with this thing," one of them said
"I bet he does. Do you want to play fetch boy?" the other asked
I barked again and they laughed. I don't know what they thought was so funny.
"Well, if you want it, go get it!" the guy with Mr. Chimera said
He gripped Mr. Chimera pretty tight and then tossed him high and far into the air. I watched him fly far into the distance. I looked over and watched those guys high five each other.
"Thanks a lot, you jerks," I said taking off
I ran pretty fast in the direction where Mr. Chimera was thrown. I ended up coming to the river that flowed through the park and next to the city. In the river, I saw Mr. Chimera floating away.
"Of course, Mr. Chimera is in the river," I thought to myself
I immediately jumped in and swam after him. I grabbed Mr. Chimera. At last, I finally had him. Now I just have to reach the riverbank. I realized that the current was getting stronger, making it difficult to swim to the riverbank. I had to keep trying. I soon realized that I was carried away, out of the park and approaching the city. The river was soon transforming into something bigger, and it looked like the water was heading into the city's water canal. That's not good. I had to get out of the water fast! With all my might, I swam to the edge and pulled myself out with Mr. Chimera just in time. I shook the water off and lied down for a few minutes. Swimming like that can take a lot out of you.
When I got back up, I looked around trying to figure out where I was. I discovered that I was near neighborhoods, and they weren't that far from the city. I sniffed the air and caught the scent of home. It was going to take me awhile to get back home, but what matters is that I had Mr. Chimera now.
"Mr. Chimera, let's go home. Anya is worried about you," I said
I decided to take a shortcut through the neighborhood. As I walked for a while, I caught the scent of smoke.
"Smoke? Where is that coming from?" I thought
For whatever reason, I followed the smell of the smoke until I saw a group of people and emergency vehicles in front of a burning home. Now, I didn't want to get involved. I snuck past everyone and managed to turn a corner. I stopped when I heard the sound of a woman sobbing. I peeked back around the corner still holding onto Mr. Chimera. The woman was crying hysterically and the man next to her was also upset. He was holding a small baby.
"My son never got out! Let me go back for him!" the woman screamed
"It's too dangerous madam! Our team is doing everything they can," said the firefighter
The house continued to burn and suddenly one of the windows shattered. This caused the woman to get more hysterical. My mind was racing on what to do. I was getting frustrated.
"You have got to be kidding me!" I thought
I took Mr. Chimera a few feet away from the area and hid him under one of the bushes.
"You better not move. I'll be right back Mr. Chimera," I said
I went back to the burning house. While everyone was distracted at the front, I decided to look towards the back. I hopped over the fence and made it in the backyard. I looked around trying to find an opening. I went to the back door and tapped on it. It wasn't hot, which was probably a good thing. I charged at the back door a few times until it finally fell over. Smoke started escaping from the back door as I ran inside. This was dangerous, but I had to get that kid out of there.
I heard the sound of coughing and crying. I followed it to where the kid was. He was trying to hide from the fire (in between a bookcase and a big, folded table) and I could tell he was scared. When he saw me, his eyes got big. I approached him slowly and pawed at him. I then licked his hand and his face.
"Come on kid, we can't stay here," I thought
After a few moments, I think the kid finally understood what I was trying to do. I gently grabbed his wrist, pulling him out of his hiding place and he wrapped one of his arms around my neck. Carefully, I was trying to lead him to the backdoor. He coughed as we made our way through the smoke. As we got close, the ceiling above the backdoor suddenly collapsed and it blocked our exit. This surprised me and the kid. He let go and tried to run, but I grabbed his wrist again and tried pulling him in a different direction. I know this kid was scared, but he had to stay close to me. I pawed at him and even let go of his wrist and started licking his hand. He wrapped his arm around my neck again. We were running out of time. I had to get this kid out of here.
I looked around and noticed smoke leading out somewhere. I realized that it was the front door. It was halfway open. Even though there were bigger flames near the front entrance; that seemed to be our only way out. I started leading the kid to the front door. He continued to cough as he clung onto me. When we made it to the front entrance, I quickly pawed the door open and rushed outside with the kid still clinging to me. Everyone was surprised to see me, and the kid emerge from the smoke. The kid let go of me as a firefighter approached and grabbed him. He was being carried off to safety. I then took off away from the house. In a matter of seconds, the front end of the house collapsed. As I stood by the corner, I watched as the kid was being examined at the ambulance. His parents were happy to see him. I wagged my tail as I watched this family have a happy tearful reunion. They made me think of my own family.
"I'm glad everything is all right now," I thought
I went around the corner and to the bush where I left Mr. Chimera. I found him in the same spot, grabbed him, and began to run home. I had to get back home before Anya notices that I'm gone.
(6:15 am)
The streets were still empty. No one was up at this hour. Nothing but the sound of Loid and Yor's feet echoing on the sidewalk. They were searching for Bond and even calling his name. Yor felt terrible for what happened last night.
"I hope we find him. I don't want Anya's heart to break any further," said Yor
"Don't worry; we're going to find him. Once we get Bond home, I'm going to put him in obedient school," said Loid
Suddenly, Yor heard the sound of barking in the distance. She and Loid froze and listened. They heard it again.
"Bond!" Yor called out
Within a few moments, Bond appeared in the distance and was running towards them. Yor smiled and rushed over to him with Loid behind her. Yor got on her knees and hugged Bond and even gave him some pats.
"Oh Bond, you scared me! Don't scare mommy like that. Where have you been?" she asked
"Sorry master lady, but I had to get Mr. Chimera," he thought
"What do you got there boy?" asked Loid
Bond plopped Mr. Chimera in Loid's hand as he wagged his tail. He continued to look at Loid as his eyes widened. He showed Yor what Bond gave him, and she seemed surprised too.
"Is this what you were doing boy? Looking for Mr. Chimera all night?" asked Loid
Bond barked in response, and he got pats from him.
"Good boy Bond," said Loid
"Loid, Bond should get a reward," said Yor
"I'll make sure he does. Now let's go home. I know Franky will be happy that his babysitting duty will be cut short."
Once they were home, Franky met them by the door. He was happy to see Bond.
"Hey you found him," said Franky
"Yeah, and look what he found," said Loid holding up Mr. Chimera
"Oh, Anya is going to be so happy."
"Yes, but Mr. Chimera looks a bit dirty."
"I'll get started on cleaning him up," said Yor taking Mr. Chimera
Bond sat down as Franky started giving him pats. The Great Pyrenees wagged his tail in delight. He loved the attention he was getting.
"Looks like Mr. Chimera isn't the only one that needs to be cleaned up," said Franky
"What were you doing all night boy?" asked Loid finally taking notice to Bond's appearance
Bond tilted his head looking at them. Suddenly a bedroom door opened. Anya stepped out rubbing her eyes. She still looked a bit sad.
"Good morning," she said tiredly
"Hey Anya," said Franky
"Anya, we have a surprise for you," said Loid
Yor came into the room and held out Mr. Chimera in front of her. Anya's eyes widened as a smile spread across her face. She rushed over and took Mr. Chimera immediately.
"Mr. Chimera!" said Anya happily
"I got through cleaning him up so he might still be a little wet," said Yor
"Mr. Chimera, where were you? Don't ever scare me like that again! Thank you, mama, thank you papa," said Anya
"Don't thank us. Bond was actually the one who found him," said Loid
"He was out all night looking for him," added Yor
Anya turned her attention towards Bond and approached him. He wagged his tail as she was coming towards him. Anya wrapped one of her arms around him while still holding onto Mr. Chimera.
"Thank you, Bond. You're such a good boy," she said
"I love seeing you happy. I never want you to be sad," he thought
"Whoa Bond, you stink. What were you doing all night?"
Everyone let out a chuckle. Bond looked up at them confused. He didn't understand what was so funny.
"I guess we'll never know, but what matters is that Mr. Chimera was found," said Loid
"That's right and Bond brought him back safely," said Yor
"Now all he needs is a bath," said Franky
Bonds ears perked up as the word "bath" echoed in his head. He suddenly took off to search for a hiding spot. Loid looked at Franky angerly.
"Now look what you did!" he snapped
"What did I do?" Franky asked confused
"Franky, Bond doesn't like baths and hearing the word makes him panic," said Yor
"Wait, I thought Bond didn't like the word... V-E-T," said Anya
"The Vet?" questioned Franky
Loid and Yor started shushing Franky, but it was too late. Bond jumped from his hiding spot and started running around the apartment in a panic. He knocked some things over and managed to push the table over. Yor sighed as Loid grabbed a hold of Franky's wrist.
"What are you doing?" asked Franky
"You're going to help me with Bond," said Loid
Bond's mission was successful, but it's a shame that it had to end with getting a bath.
