Snuggle Up

Summary:

Miorine can’t understand Suletta. Sure, she expects her to be nervous about sleeping over in someone’s room. But was it really that distracting to sleep in the same bed?

Notes:

Day 16: Asleep

Work Text:

Miorine can somewhat understand Suletta's chivalric attitude. She's only recently become her fiancée, and considering her isolated childhood, probably didn't know how to act during a sleepover.

But did Suletta really believe that she was going to let her sleep on the floor?

“Put that down,” Miorine says, exasperated.

Suletta stops dead in her tracks; a bundle of blankets held in her arms. “But I-I can’t! I always take up space in your bed a-and—”

“Suletta, it’s a king. There’s more than enough room and the floor is filthy anyway,” Miorine resumes her nighttime routine and Suletta awkwardly sets the blankets down.

The second makeup exam was coming up, and late night study sessions were common enough that Suletta often spent the night over. And without fail, Suletta always insisted on sleeping anywhere but on her oversized bed.

Tonight was no different.

“M-miorine-san. I know you’re just b-being nice to me but you don’t have to always do this.” Suletta kept on insisting, but she had already settled her things for the night and was standing offside of the bed.

Miorine gets onto her bed and shuffles over to her side. Turning around, Miorine simply says, “I’m not letting you sleep here just because I’m nice. I’d send you back to your dorm otherwise.”

A moment passes and Miorine realizes the implication she just gave. A light blush settles onto her cheek and she looks at Suletta, who thankfully still has a neutral, but more relaxed expression.

“Now come on. It’s late.” Miorine pats the other side of the bed and Suletta slides in without any further protest.

With the lights off, the two make light conversation as they wait for sleep to take them. Miorine is surprised by how easily she's adjusted to Suletta's presence—her soft voice acting like white noise and lulling her ever closer.

Miorine closes her eyes for a moment, but the warmth she feels beside her has her shuffling closer to the source.

Miorine can't even remember the last time she slept with someone else. She could almost remember climbing into her mother's bed when she was younger but her memories grew foggy as she got older.

Suletta’s breathing has evened out, and Miorine finally drifts off to the comforting sound.

In the morning, with her bed surprisingly warm, Miorine shuffles even closer to the heat on her back. Only when her mind finally wakes up does she recognize the arms held loosely around her.
