Chapter Text
She wasn't exactly sure what Cupid saw in her when they chose her to spread love throughout NRC. She still remembers how they flew through her balcony, and Ruggie shooed them away insisting that they had the wrong person. Despite his efforts, Cupid managed to get into her room, as clear as day they said,
"This heart is caring and loving, it knows no bounds for affection. With your magical prowess, you would be able to use your love to bring peace to NRC. I need you to become my agent."
Become an agent? Of Cupid no less? The idea was ridiculous. However, there was one reason why she eventually decided to accept their offer.
It was because of him.
Upon hearing the news, Moon jumped for joy and begged Leona to take Cupid's offer. He began to go on a tangent as he usually does, saying it was no accident that Cupid chose her and they would have a great Valentine's Day doing cute things together, and eventually their persistence got to Leona. They always had a knack for tugging her heart strings, but he was too dense to realize what they were doing to her.
To think that a few months ago she wanted nothing to do with him, trying so hard for him to join Ignihyde permanently. Now he's become such a big part of her life it almost hurts. It must've been Cupid's doing, shooting a love bullet into her heart and making it beat so fast when he was around. If they were the culprit though, why didn't they consider her circumstances with her family? Then it would have to be a mistake, no? Maybe it was just a prank, and that she wasn't the one for Moon after all. It was just some twisted joke for Cupid to laugh at; why would he ever reciprocate those feelings back?
"Hellooooo? Twisted Wonderland to Leona!" She looked back up at him as they broke her train of thought. "So, are you going to change your mind and become Cupid's agent?" She took a glimpse of his eyes, but in that flash alone she could see how enchanting those embers were. They were so genuine and tender, it's why she was absolutely mad in love with them. She chuckled and sighed, directing herself to Moon's eyes again.
"Damn it daffodil I wish you weren't so persistent. Even if I declined, you would have begged me to take the job anyway until you dropped dead. So, I guess I don't have any other choice than to comply with that flytrap." It was gonna be a long week.
Afternoon
Never had Leona thought she would carry a gun in school, much less a gun that was supposed to be giving love. Cupid's agent orientation was long and boring, providing the basic rules like "don't be cruel to other students" and "we must work in harmony" etc etc. But then came the "weapon of love" selection, in which Cupid had an array of guns for the agents to use, very questionable to say the least.
"Each gun has a unique purpose that could only be used for the love they're meant to combat. My gun is a little different," they held up their crossbow. "I can spread any kind of love, but that would be impossible for any mortal to do with a love weapon. That is why I'll be assigning you one of the four main types of love to spread at Night Raven College." Cupid put their attention to Leona.
"You with the lion ears, come forth." Leona rolled her eyes and stepped forward as she mumbled under her breath. "I have seen how competent you are with magic, meaning you'll be able to handle this type of love." Cupid picked up a sniper rifle and showed it to Leona.
"This is the Secret Admirer."
"Do they all have stupid names like that?" Leona remarked.
"Hey, the name of the gun is crucial as it corresponds to the type of love that it spreads. The Secret Admirer uses Eros, which is a powerful and sometimes dangerous type of love. It's a passionate and intense love that gives the person a rush of excitement. The Secret Admirer reveals this love in a person who hides it, and enchants them to confess their feelings for their loved one. It only works if a few or none are aware of this love and requires an incredible amount of magic to operate. It's not easy to make people open up."
Leona examined the gun, taking Cupid's words into account. The love I'm feeling… is this what Cupid is describing? Leona thought. Just who does this flytrap think they are? Damn it. Damn it.
"So lion ears-"
"Leona is fine thank you." Cupid starts again.
"Leona, you will spread eros to others, but as I said before, you must be careful. A missed bullet or the wrong person could lead into serious consequences, you can't just shoot anyone. Do you understand?"
"Yeah sure whatever." Leona took the rifle and wrapped the sling around her back, resting the rifle behind her.
One by one, Cupid assigned everyone the love they would spread and their guns. Ortho was going to install a blaster on one of his arms called the "Guardian of the Tree," spreading Storage, or the love of family. Ace had two pistols, one that read had "Split" and another that read "Hearts," he would spread Philia, or the love of friendship and simple affection. Vil was the last to be assigned; instead of having a gun, Cupid gave him an infinite supply of the "Saint's Blessings," which were grenades that were designed to give the highest form of love, Agape, or love for mankind.
Evening
Leona was back in her bedroom, staring at the dress she hung up in front of her closet. It was a purple long-sleeved dress with a pink tie and a bow, it came with a matching hat and heels. Cupid gave it to her to wear when she was out on the field. It definitely wasn't any ordinary agent outfit, that's for sure. She contemplated whether it would look good on her, or what the Savanaclaw students would say if they saw her wearing it. The thoughts intimidated her, but she didn't have a choice. She sucked her teeth and took the dress out from the hangar.
When she finished, she looked at herself in the mirror. A faint smile formed on her face, eventually transforming into a wide grin. She twirled and chuckled as she gazed on her reflection.
Someone knocked on her door.
"Shit!" Leona thought to herself.
"Leona? It's me, Moon. Can I come in for a second?" Leona sighed with relief when she heard his voice. She opened the door and saw his jaw drop as they looked at her. Leona had to rush him inside to prevent anyone from peeking in. Inside, Moon stood breathless, which normally he started talking at this point.
"I look terrible, don't I?" Upon hearing her, Moon escaped his trance and immediately clasped Leona's hands.
"What?! No, never say that Leona! You're gorgeous! You're so…beautiful. You're beautiful Leona." She gasped and looked down as she blushed. He was doing it again, and she could feel her heart racing once more.
"Thanks." She released Moon's hands in embarrassment.
"This is the outfit Cupid gave you, right? They gave me one too! We're gonna be matching!" Leona chuckled as she gazed at Moon. She looked back down at the floor and began taking off the outer garments of the outfit.
It was comforting to know that she wouldn't be alone in her assignment, it was the only reason she agreed to do it. Still, she could hear her heartbeat picking up its pace, and wondered if Moon heard it too. It was distracting. Not that she didn't mind, she just didn't want Cupid to get on her case about it when it interferes with her assignment.
