Work Text:
Bakugou was known for being loud, brash and rude. But besides his hot temper, he had good grades and unexpectedly followed rules well. Well, most of them.
Bakugou was also anti-social and did not like to hang out with his classmates he calls 'extras'. And one thing he would never admit was that the self-proclaimed BakuSquad was his friends. And Midoriya.
Bakugou and Midoriya had an incredulous love-hate relationship. They argued and bickered a lot but they would sacrifice their own life just to save one another. Although, it was mostly Midoriya who would do that.
"It's his job," Bakugou would say. Class 1-A would say it's not because Midoriya was not his servant but Bakugou would just yell a threat and exit the room while Midoriya proceeded to stutter out excuses. The class did not like the way Bakugou treated Midoriya. But since Bakugou showed his love differently, they knew that he cared for Midoriya secretly and in his own ways.
Sometimes, Midoriya would exclaim "oh my lord" at something and Bakugou would snicker and pat him on the shoulder. Midoriya would blush in embarrassment, leaving the class in confusion all the time.
The class just brushed it off as a weird inside joke and soon enough, they would find that it was indeed an inside joke between the two frenemies.
Two years into Yuuei, Class 2-A were all chilling in the common room on a quiet Saturday. It was one of those unspoken coincidences between the class that they would all coincidentally be in the same room at the same time. If the majority of the whole class was present, the rest of the class would be asked to join no matter how quiet the atmosphere later on would be. It was just one of those nonverbal class bonding.
There were some muttering and whispering that usually went ignored unless some busybody decides to join in, letting the whole class in with a full on discussion that could last hours on end if Aizawa does not come in at least once a day to check on them and stop their bullshit.
Today was like none other.
At first.
It all began when Bakugou was absent from the group. The class spammed Bakugou for a long time and that was when he finally gave in. He came downstairs and looked around. Some watched and eyed him to make sure he was not about to escape. Surprisingly, he just made his way over to the couch and wriggled himself between an arm of the couch and...
Midoriya!
When Bakugou settled, he took out a few pieces of paper from his pockets and unfolded them before– laying his head on Midoriya's shoulder?
Yeah, the class saw it right.
Midoriya, instead of pushing Bakugou away, moved his hand and wrapped it around Bakugou's shoulder to bring him closer.
Bakugou then started talking about some graphs and rates of something that the class did not catch on.
"Do you reckon I can slaughter Yunoski for his math? He can't even subtract and multiply right." That horrendous language came from Bakugou and the class was left in pieces. Bakugou plotting a murder? That meant danger and they were worried. Iida felt the need to interfere and opened his mouth but Midoriya beat him to his speech.
"You can't do that! Milady would not like that! He is strong and will betray whenever. And, I don't want to die yet, sir." Midoriya quietly whisper-screamed, oblivious to the surrounding listeners. Milady, whoever that was, seemed to have power over them. But who would call someone with such a high-class title?
"And, it's better to fire him. Plus, there's still Kaira and Tachinobu. I doubt there would be much trouble anyway. Besides," Midoriya took his arm back from around Bakugou and shrugged. "it's just two dollars–"
"Fucking hell. You've worked for your whole life and you still don't know that two dollars can affect the whole land? Bitch, we could lose two thousand from that!" Bakugou sneered. Midoriya's eyes widened and his mouth formed an 'o'.
"Idiot. I'll fucking fire you–"
"What is this conversation? Child labour is illegal!" Iida exclaimed, his voice suddenly an octave higher. The class was in shock other than Todoroki.
"The fuck? He should have known better. And it's not child labour. My parents helped him and his mother so he works for us as payment. He earns thousands a month, fucking hell." Bakugou blurted out without a thought and looked at Todoroki. The class looked at Todoroki in question.
"It's true. But Lord Bakugou, I cannot fathom the fact that you just talked about the economic problem of your land in front of everyone– and I just said something wrong." Bakugou had an evil glint in his eyes and his hands sparked.
"Well, fuck you because I'm not going to pay either of you for two months for being such an idiot. They wouldn't know if you had not spoken!"
Words processed in the brains of the class and realization filled their face. "B-Bakugou is a lord?" Someone had said but neither of the three answered.
"But I need the money to hire a hitman," Todoroki nodded. Yeah, he was rich but he could not use his father's credit card to hire a hitman to kill his father. That would be suicide.
Bakugou narrowed eyes and sighed. "I'll pay you this month but not the next two."
"Why are you encouraging this behaviour?" Iida screamed hysterically. Midoriya bit his lips and read the paper in Bakugou's hand again.
"Uh, my Lord, you might want to let me go to report this back because the date here..." Midoriya pointed to a line of numbers and Bakugou kicked Midoriya out of sight as Midoriya stumbled out of the dorms.
"What's going on?"
"You're the assistant Secretary, Icy-Hot, get going or you won't get your pay!" Bakugou fumed. Todoroki stood blankly and walked towards the door.
"We're going bankrupt!" Bakugou yelled.
Todoroki sprinted the fastest in his whole entire life after that one line. He was so not going to let down a golden opportunity.
