That Pesky Emotion Called Love

Summary:

Kuoxis lost emotions due to a drug called Bane. One emotion she didn't expect to get back so quickly was love

Work Text:

The five year Kuoxis was alone, she truly never thought she'd ever fall in love again. Getting your heart shattered does that to a person and taking bane also removes that feeling. She was resigned to that knowledge. It's not like anyone ever paid any mind to her anyways. That was until she met everyone else.

Running into Holland, Casamir, San, and Adamanta truly changed her life. She slowly felt herself regaining certain emotions. One she didn't expect that she's kept to herself, was love.

Staring at the small halfling woman as she handed her back that broach she felt a tiny ping in her heart, one she hadn't felt in a very long time. Kuoxis couldn't help but smile at Adamanta everytime she looked her way and always made sure her flower crowns and gifts were extra special.

The day Holland left and Rhy came into the picture was also the day Kuoxis felt she had the courage to do something about that pesky emotion, so once the two were alone in a tavern she asked her to join her for an evening meal. When Adamanta accepted the invitation, Kuoxis felt the ping grow stronger.

Of course the emotion came crashing down quickly as a thick fog of literal death intrupted the wonderful evening. Then a new feeling creeped its way into her heart, fear. It just had to be that the one moment she finally allowed herself to try and move on, she was once again faced with uncertain death and destruction. Kuoxis couldn't help but think to herself that maybe she was just cursed and that maybe she was destined to be alone forever. If everyone she cared for was always going to be in danger of death because of her, why should she be selfish and stay.

Kuoxis still wasn't sure what made her stay though with the group, maybe the idea that everyone was strong and as a group they would be able to protect themselves. Nevertheless, they continued on with a journey that seemed to go to many corners and different directions. At least she still had Adamanta by her side. Sweet, lovely, and wonderful Adamanta. Everything about her amazed Kuoxis.

She felt like the luckiest elf in existence when they shared that lovely night together in Driaton and learning more about the halfing made her feel honored that she trusted her enough. Kuoxis shared information about her tattoos in return, explaining a bit on how her old sect ran things.

Kuoxis was going to treasure Adamanta for as long as she could. That's what she promised herself that night and to also protect Adamanta when she couldn't protect herself anymore. She wasn't going to let her share the fate as Emolyas. Ever. She would sacrifice herself in a heartbeat for her.

That's when the feeling fully bloomed and she was sure she loved her. Even if it was early for some when it came to that particular emotion and she was going to hold onto it as tight as she could.

Especially now with everything they've learned and been through and healing spells became more necessary to get through battles. Kuoxis held tightly to Adamanta after the Silentfolds as they promised to each other to be by their sides through everything. Kuoxis knew right there that she wanted to spend whatever time they had together with Adamanta.

Kuoxis stared at a small embroidered handkerchief she continues to work on that was nearing the end of it's end of completion and she felt giddy at finding the right moment long after all of this was over to present it to the halfling.
