Balor’s voice is silky and insidious, but his words have long since ceased to hold meaning. There is only one line on repeat in Eredin’s head, drowning out everything else.
You deserve this.
He knows he does; he’s betrayed them, and traitors… Well. Traitors deserve to suffer, a simple death too kind for their ilk. Those are Balor’s words, too. A cacophony of past rants joins the single line, and Balor hasn’t yet laid hand on him, but the anticipation is worse.
Maybe Eredin should have heeded the warning. But he didn’t, and so he definitely deserves the consequences now.
