Summary
As a first-year at Starfleet Academy, straight-laced Brad Boimler was seduced by notorious punk and illegal racer Sam Rutherford. Sucked in by Sam's charm and possessiveness, Brad lost sight of what made him join the Academy, his work ethic and passion falling by the wayside as he orbited Sam like a star.
When Sam suddenly transferred to the far-away Douglas Station without a word, a lost and devastated Brad had to make the choice to once again pursue his original goals. Though his record was stained by months of lackluster effort, he vowed to commit to Starfleet and climb the ranks all the way to captain.
Nearly a decade later, Brad has made good progress, finally making his way onto an actual starship—the USS Cerritos. Old wounds have largely healed, and though his romantic life is dormant, he's content to devote his time to the pursuit of being one of Starfleet's best. Everything is going smoothly until a new transfer arrives on board: Sam Rutherford.
Suddenly made aware of the fact that he never actually moved on, Brad has to grapple between his yearning for the past and his need for closure. There's just one problem... Sam doesn't remember him.
