He'll Be Fine [KiriKami]

Summary:

I lay there, looking up at the dark gray sky. Rain was pouring down hitting my face, letting some of my blood pool in the puddle beneath me. Ah, rain... The universal sign that something will go horribly wrong, or that someone will die. That someone is me. But I'm not scared, I knew this was coming.

"I just don't see the point... Who cares if one more light goes out in the sky of a million stars? Who cares when someone's time runs out if a moment is all we are... Or quicker..." I took a short breath feeling his sobs grow more violent. "Who cares if one more light goes out -"

"Well, I do!"

Work Text:

I lay there, looking up at the dark gray sky. Rain was pouring down hitting my face, letting some of my blood pool in the puddle beneath me. Ah, rain... The universal sign that something will go horribly wrong, or that someone will die. That someone is me. But I'm not scared, I knew this was coming. I knew that one day, I won't be strong enough to fight off a villain. You are probably wondering what led up to this, aren't you?

Well, we were having joint training with class 1-B. That's when Monoma revealed himself as the traitor. I was the first to run up and stop him, but he copied my quirk. While the electricity was coursing through my veins, Toga came up and stabbed me, multiple times. Now here I am... Lying on the ground, not being able to help. I knew charging forward was not the smartest thing to do, but who said I was smart? I just, couldn't bear to see Shinsou look so heartbroken after finding out that one of his 'friends' was just faking it.

Heh, I rely too much on other people. Whether it's in combat or in terms of emotional health. I can always find myself near someone. Only three people actually watch out for me and try not to insult me that much. Those three are Kirishima, my best bro, Sero, my other best bro, and Shinsou, one of my closest friends. Huh, it's quiet... and it's starting to clear up? Hmm, maybe the fighting is over..? I would try to look around, but I can't feel anything in my body. I don't know if I suffered more injuries while Monoma electrocuted me, but it's safe to assume that I did.

"Denki!" The voice was foggy as ringing drowned out most noises. "Denki! Oh my god... What did they do to you?" I felt someone pull me into a sitting position as I cried out in pain.

I looked up to see a familiar face. "K-Kirishima...?" I croaked out, everything around him turned blurry,  he was the only thing I was focusing on.

Kirishima seemed to be all right, at least there wasn't any blood on his face. "Ah! We should have brought you with us! How could we leave you out here?!" Wait... What?

"What do you mean? " I frowned. "Weren't you guys fighting the villains?"

Kirishima looked away for a second before giving his full attention back to me. "Well, the teachers were, Thirteen ushered us back inside before we got a chance to get you." So, they just discarded me like I was a losing lottery card? Well, who wouldn't? It's like I'm a background character to my own life anyways. "-but don't worry! The paramedics will be here soon!" Ah, must have missed what he was saying.

"Hey, Kirishima...?" I asked. He put on a hopeful smile as he replied with a simple 'Hm?' "I just want to say t-thank you... Thank…Thank you for giving me a won…wonderful life... I just wish that... that I could spend more time with you..."

Kirishima's smile immediately faltered. "Denki what are you saying?!" His eyes welled up with tears as I saw the gears turn in his head.

I was going to die...

Kirishima pulled me tighter to his chest, I didn't have the strength to cry out in pain anymore. "You… You are NOT leaving us!! I won't let you!" His hand that rested on my stomach clenched the fabric of my shirt, as tears made the shirt even more of a wreak. I sighed before shakily resting my hand on his spikey red hair.

"Kirishima please just... just stop..." He looked up at me in disbelief, I feel so bad making him cry like this. "I already knew this day was coming, from the day school started... just promise me that you'll become a pro hero, okay?"

This immediately set him off, crying harder than he did before. "I can't! Not without you! You need to become one too!" He looked down again and began to mutter the words 'I can’t’ over and over again.

I run my hand down to his chin and lift it up slowly, sending a warm smile. "We both know that's not gonna happen... even if I live..." I chuckle lightly before continuing, "make sure Bakugou doesn't kill anybody..."

Kirishima grabbed the back of my head and pushed forward so that our foreheads were touching. "Please... no... not like this... I can't bear to live knowing you died like this! So please, just hang on!" His body shook from the violent sobs that recked through his body, he was still holding me close.

I know I'm probably going to regret this, "You'll get over it. I'm not that important anyways..." I felt his breathing hitch as he pulled away, staring at me in disbelief once again. "I mean, I'm just a background character in my own life..."

Along with his tears streaming down his face, he showed anger, a feeling I thought he was incapable of having. "Bullshit! You ARE important!" Before I could interject, he continued. "You always find a way to lighten up everybody’s day, no matter how shitty it was!" His face fell back to that of severe pain. "You are the reason a lot of us are happy... You bonded the class..."

My eyes weld up with tears, "Kirishima... quit it, stop lying..."

"He's not lying Kaminari." I looked to the left, finding Bakugou kneeling down next to us. That was the first time he used my real name. "You are very important to all of us, even if we don't show it. Even if… I don’t show it. So, we are going to make sure you make it."

I chuckled again hearing something in the distance come closer. Is that a siren? "I just don't see the point... Who cares if one more light goes out in the sky of a million stars? Who cares when someone's time runs out if a moment is all we are... Or quicker..." I took a short breath feeling his sobs grow more violent. "Who cares if one more light goes out -"

"Well, I do!" Kirishima interrupted. "I'm sorry that I didn't say this before but... but I love you. That's why I can't live without you..."

Now it was my turn to stare at him in disbelief. "See Kaminari?" I looked back over at Bakugou who is obviously fighting back tears. "There are so many people like Shitty hair over here that will go to hell and back, just for your presence. Just for your safety."

I couldn't stop the dam from breaking. Tears of joy and sadness streamed down my face like a waterfall. "You guys!" My voice cracked as I pulled both of them into a tight hug. I smiled as I felt them hug back, carefully because of my wounds.

The sirens now grew to their loudest possible volume as I could barely hear my fellow classmates cry out, "Over here! He's over here!" Sadly, I pulled away from the hug missing their warm ripped arms.

Kirishima smiled at me, before completely laying me on the ground. He stayed by my side, gazing into my eyes as I gazed back. He grabbed my hand and squeezed it as I heard a lot of commotion to my left. I shut my eyes tightly as I cried out in pain as my body moved from the cold hard ground to a slightly warmer stretcher. Kirishima was still there though; he squeezed my hand again reassuring me that I was still there. I opened my eyes again, feeling the warmth from my hand slip away. I tilted my head to the side as paramedics slipped an oxygen mask on me. As I was wheeled to the ambulance, I saw every single one of my classmates crying. Even some from different classes.

I whined as more tears fell down my face. Reaching out for Kirishima with my right hand as I felt the stretcher move into the back of the ambulance. "K-Kiri..." I whined, I wanted to stay with him. I wanted to stare into those ruby eyes and get lost within. The doors shut and I lowered my hand back down in defeat. I smiled softly at the ceiling as needles were being stuck into my arms. I'm going to be okay, I'm sure of it. As my mind wandered to all of the good memories with my class, I felt myself drift from reality. Falling into a restful slumber.
