“Come on, dearest,” Obi-Wan had to lean close, his hand on Asajj’s bare shoulder, to make himself heard over the music blasting. “If Anakin is leaving - well, he’s had a lot to drink, and I want to make sure he gets back to his dorm without getting into trouble.”
“Again,” Asajj supplied, rolling her eyes. It was such a shame that Obi-Wan’s dogooder nature made him the perfect man to pose as her boyfriend long enough for her mother to stop bothering her, because it meant that he was such a square. Still, this off-campus party sucked, she mused. And maybe Anakin would get into some trouble after all. A girl could hope, couldn’t she?
They met up with Skywalker and the unfairly hot grad student he was dating, plus two younger girls she’d met a few times as part of this ruse who had finally seemed to have imbibed enough alcohol to have made it from furious blushing to dopey and handsy. Not her first choice for a mischief crew, but beggars can’t be choosers, she supposed. And having the excuse to drape herself over the tall, athletic, noble Kenobi? Well, maybe pretending to date him wasn’t that bad.
Their little crew had stumbled as far as the lake that separated campus from town when Anakin seemed to notice the body of water for the first time. “I’m too hot,” he announced. Just to them, fortunately, Asajj noted, as they only shared the moonlit path with a few early fall leaves. “Time for a swim,” he whooped, and proceeded to disrobe, from ratty hoodie to sweaty boxer shorts, before plunging into the frigid water. “Whoo!” he hollered, then did it again for good measure.
“Anakin, I–” Padme’s wisdom died in the wind as the two freshmen went tearing past, somehow having gone from zero to bareass naked in the time it had taken Asajj to smirk at Obi-Wan.
The brow of the man in question was now furrowed with frustration. “Sweet Cosmic Force, Ahsoka, I am your RA,” Obi-Wan called. “Please do not!..” He sighed. “Where’s Luminara when you need her?”
“Luminara, eh?” Asajj jabbed a bony finger into Kenobi’s chest. “Should I be jealous?” She traced her finger down his midline to unbuckle his belt, then further down to his fly. Well, she noted, he was certainly thinking of someone attractive.
“Ha-ha,” he muttered. “I don’t think you have anything to worry about from her.”
“Come on, Obi-Wan,” she murmured, unbuttoning her tight, dark trousers, raising the stakes even if she wasn’t sure on the rules. “Shall we join them? This is what you wanted, isn’t it?” She left just enough of a pause to let him look at her body, even paler than usual in the waxing gibbous moon. “Someone to keep you from feeling like a fifth wheel?” Obi-Wan started to say something, then blinked as he realized Padme had just pulled off her dress to join the cavorting in the lake. “You weren’t desperate enough to actually want me, were you?”
“And how do you know that, dearest?” he breathed back, black fleece pullover already tossed away.
Oh no, she thought. This was always the worst - the most dangerous part of their little game. The part where he flirted with her, and she flirted back, and she had to pretend like neither of them meant it. Time to change that strategy, she thought; what’s Obi-Wan’s weakness? Ah, yes, emotional honesty. “Nobody’s desperate enough to want me,” she countered, peeling off her tanktop and panties.
Notably: she did not break for the water.
“That seems like a tactical miscalculation on someone’s part,” he murmured, cupping his hand to her cheek. No, she thought, she was not going to give in, not going to let this stupid knight in shining tighty-whities sweep in and say clever words and just, just kiss her after she had opened herself up to him. Fuck, she thought eyelashes fluttering as she looked up at him. “Speaking of tactical miscalculations,” he continued, and she blamed the cheap beer for dulling her reflexes as he ducked and scooped her up to carry over one (stupidly well-muscled) shoulder.
“Put me down, Kenobi,” she hissed and immediately regretted.
“Well, if you insist,” and she could hear the twinkle in his eye as he sprinted past the water’s edge, sending icy splashes up at her before flinging her into the dark, bitterly cold water.
Before she could exact her revenge, a flashlight beam caught on a nearby tree. “Campus security,” Ahsoka yelped. “Run!”
And if, in the mad dash, Asajj wound up wearing a very snuggly black fleece pullover like a tunic, well, that was nobody’s concern but her own. Certainly not Kenobi’s, since, well, it was going to end up on his dorm room floor anyway.
