Regulus black son of worldwide singers Walburga and Orion Black was known to the world as the well-behaved and quiet son. But his secret band gets exposed, so he has to keep his identity secret as well keep up appearances as the quiet son. Then the lead singer in his brothers cringy boy band enters his life and it gets about 10x harder.
Regulus black had 2 secrets that could destroy everything his family worked for. He was gay, he’d known this since age 11 so that wasn’t something he had to work on hiding. His parents knew and were definitely against it but didn’t have enough children to kick him out so they just delt with it, though he wasn’t allowed to talk about it openly with anyone. Then he met his best friends, Pandora, Barty, Evan, and Dorcas. Regulus had learnt how to play the guitar from a young age because his father hoped he would someday gain enough confidence to start a solo career and become as famous as his parents but that never happened. Regulus was high with his friends when he saw a electric guitar he picked it up and played it. That was how the band formed, they all said which instruments they could play and if they could sing. Regulus was the only one who could sing half decently, so he was named the lead singer. Barty was made the electric guitarist and pandora the bass guitar player. Dorcas was made the drum player and since Evan couldn’t play any instruments, he was made the manager.
They had been playing and making music for a year now, they had never really posted anything or tried to blow up because their music was definitely far from what his parents would approve of. That is till Evan decides he wants them to blow up so he makes the put purge masks on and sing one of Regulus’s songs. He choose Take Me to Church*. The song wasn’t very much like him, it talked about sinning and Regulus didn’t really believe in god. The next day they went to check on it and saw it had blown up like not just 1000 views like millions of views. He got excited then cried and then he had a panic attack, what if his mom found out or his dad he wouldn’t be allowed out of the house ever again. Eventually he got over it and realised that his parents wouldn’t be able to tell it was his, he had a mask on and he was talking about his feelings which was “nothing like him”.
All the comments were asking what other music they had made or how long they had been a band. Soon enough Evan got a call asking the band to do an interview. They all agreed, then remembered that Regulus can’t show his face so the came up with an idea. Regulus was going to wear a mask sunglass and a cap. It wasn’t a problem that they were all showing their faces because Regulus’s mother didn’t even know he was friends with them. They called and made sure it was ok for Regulus to not show his face and the interviewer said it was okay as long as he talked.
The interview went well though they did ask a few personal question like why he needed to cover his face and he simplify answered I like my privacy. The interview went viral just like the song and soon enough they had producers asking to manage them. They decided they didn’t want to rely on a company so the simply just posted music when they felt like it and did it their own way. Regulus kept going to the gala’s and events his parents attended and no one suspected a thing. His brothers band was doing annoyingly well, they had made it to number 2 album in the UK and US. His band had 4 people but was called the marauders ( Because they thought they were pranksters), all of them were cringy love songs. The lead singer James potter openly talks about his huge crush on a singer from another band Lily Evans. Regulus felt sorry for James, the girl was gay and visibly in love with the drummer Mary he thinks her name was. The songs his brother wrote were about the bass player, Regulus had forgotten his name but definitely not his face it was covered in scars and kind of scary but he seemed sweet. His brother and the guy were oblivious, they both thought that their love was one-sided but it wasn’t anyone could see. Then their was Pete or something he seemed quiet and only ever stuck to his drum kit. How they hade made it big Regulus will never know. Their songs were repetitive and their music videos were just teenage girls dancing around them as they sung. Their fanbase was just pre-pubescent girls who thought they were a y/n in a Wattpad story. Regulus was deeply uncomfortable because the lead singer ( whom Regulus thought was the most attractive) was deeply underappreciated and the most liked one was his brother.
Regulus was in his room writing what he thought could be their bands next top hit until he heard a screeching voice form downstairs which was without question his mother. He put his notebook down and hid it in his bookshelf. When he went downstairs he saw his whole extended family. His cousins were their and then he saw someone who made him physically ill.
His ex Tom Riddle was standing there with a sly grin on his face. Regulus felt vomit come up his throat and his body went cold. Why was Tom there, did his parents forget was Tom had done to him or did they just not care. Regulus had been with Tom when he was 15 and Tom was 18. Regulus at the time didn’t realise this was a problem and neither did his parents only because Tom was big in the entertainment community. He was an A list just like his parents and got every role he auditioned for. Tom had emotionally and sometime physically abused him. But Regulus had loved him so he never spoke up. Tom had broken up with him and it took Regulus months to even be able to get out of bed, it was his friends who saved him.
Regulus had met his friends at an event and it wasn’t intentionally, he was trying to get drunk off shots and he heard a rowdy group and thought why not. Now they help him every time he thinks about what happened or even if he is just feeling down.
So why was Tom there. Regulus asked his mother and she said “Tom wanted to take you out to a gala”, he was about to say no then he heard his father say “if you say no, you’ll never see those idiot friends of yours again.”. So somehow Regulus was at a gala with his abusive ex trying to drink his problems away. Tom was on about some role he got and how much of a celebrity he was when Regulus heard a familiar voice. His brother was here, Regulus freaked out and tried to hide. Sirius was the first person Regulus had told about Tom and it took a miracle for Sirius not to beat his to a pulp. Regulus thought he had hidden well until his brothers voice called out “Regulus why are you here”. Regulus tried to act like he hadn’t heard him but then he walked over and he was bringing his entourage with him. Sirius starts to talk to him far to fast and Regulus couldn’t make out what he was saying until he noticed Tom who had been glaring at him. Sirius then asked with much spitefulness “ what the fucks he doing here and with you, Regulus not again you remember what happened last time right”, Regulus was about to speak when he was interrupted by Tom saying smugly “he’s my date”. Regulus saw Sirius face drop into fear then change into anger, before Sirius could start a scene by trying to punch Tom,Regulus pulled him away by his wrist. Regulus pulled him away and spoke softly to him “ Dad said If I didn’t go with him I wouldn’t be able to hang out with my friends again”, Sirius sighed loudly, “why do you left them keep controlling your life your 21 you should be able to decide if you go out with an abusive ex or not.” Sirius and Regulus kept talking and eventually Sirius’s friends came over and joined in the convo. Regulus found himself staring heavily at James and admiring his features, his green eyes which contrasted with his smooth brown skin. After awhile James looked at him and held eye contact, a big grin passed over James’s face as he looked away and Regulus felt himself blush. Soon regulus noticed Tom was all up on some girl who looked flustered, soon Tom walked away with the girl whispering sweet nothings into her ear. Regulus felt relief as he left and was able to talk more freely. Soon Sirius was too drunk to walk so Remus ( who Regulus finally learnt the name of) decided it would be best to go back to their apartment, at this comment Regulus asked if it was just his and Sirius and Remus told him that the whole band lived together. While they were leaving, Regulus was packing up then James came up to him and said “ Sirius hasn’t told me much, but what they bastard did do you is sick you seem like you deserve the world”. Then James ran away to catch up with the others. They comment “ you look like you deserve the world” made Regulus shiver.
Regulus got home and his parents didn’t say anything about him ditching Tom to hang out with Sirius so Regulus assumed Tom must of still been with the girl. Regulus met up with his friends the next day and told them about his song he had written, it was called Lolita. Regulus had written it when he was 16. He was still with tom at the time and when they were together Regulus basically thought that Tom was god. So they played it through a few times, recorded and posted. Within an hour it was at 100,000 views, not unexpectedly and they had about 900,000 subscribers. The comments were filled with love and not a single bad comment which was almost impossible but it happened. A lot of the comments were talking about the point of the song, some even asked if he was okay. Regulus went home and was soon after called down to dinner, when he sat down he could hear his parents talking about a song saying it was disgusting that someone would think such a thing. So politely he asked what song the were talking about, and to his surprise it was his one. His father seemed disgusted and almost shocked that people thought like that and could ‘love’ like that. Regulus thought to himself, their quite silly I wonder what would happen if they found out it was me.
Regulus was scrolling Instagram when he got a message, he was about to swipe it was then he saw it was from James’s official account. The name of the account was “the_officialProngs”, it was an odd name and Regulus didn’t understand why it said Prongs? But it was his account. Regulus looked at the message and it was James asking him out for a coffee, he couldn’t say no. He agreed, I mean how could he not. The first time Regulus met James he was 14, he had a crush on him from the first time he met him till well it never really stopped he just pushed it down. They got to talking and James suggested they hang out because James wants to get to know him. Weird but Regulus said ok. They organised to meet at the Café Star, this was the most popular café in London since his brother was seen eating there.
The next day Regulus was panicking, the coffee was a 3:30 and it was 3:00 and Regulus had no outfit, he called Dorcas to ask for advice and she gave him the perfect idea. Regulus left at 3:15 and was there by 3:25. James was already sitting at a table sipping what looked to be a coffee. James looked up and waved at him to come over, Regulus walked over an pulled out the chair opposite him. They spoke about anything and everything. After saying their goodbyes, James hugged Regulus then walked away waving. Regulus found out that James was Pansexual, and been singing and playing the guitar since the age of 5. Regulus called Pandora and was about to start telling her about it but then she picked up and screamed “why were you on a date with James Potter, like your brother best friend James Potter” stunned Regulus asked her how she knew because hadn’t told Dorcas why he needed they outfit help. She explained to him that there were pictures all over the internet, “James and Regulus” was in the top trending on twitter. There were some people asking when they became friends and others were asking if they were together. The number one picture of them was James hugging Regulus. Regulus could see why this was the number one picture, it was his own favourite picture of them. Regulus was happy that he finally looked good in a picture the paparazzi took until he heard a scream, not like a scream of a word just a loud shrilly scream. He ran downstairs to check what happened in case someone got hurt when he saw the pictures open of his fathers laptop. Once his presence was realised glares were sent his way and he was beckoned over. His mothers asks him in a calm voice ( which makes it scarier) “what is this sweetie”. Regulus was unable to respond so she asked again but louder “what the fuck is this”. Regulus said it’s a photo and it didn’t happen it was edited. She didn’t believe, not that he was expecting her to but still. His father walked over to him and said sternly “ I accepted the fact you were a gay, but told you don’t let it get out and what did you do you let it get out you pathetic little boy. We loved and raised you and this is how you pay us back by ruining everything our family has worked for and achieved in this world.” Regulus tried to respond by saying they were just friends and they were bidding goodbye but his father didn’t stand for it, he got punched 2 one on the nose and he could feel the blood start to drip and then they eye. After 2 hours of being screamed at he went up to his room, cleaned his nose and went to sleep hoping to try forget for a while.
He went out the next day without makeup because he just couldn’t be bothered and of course the paparazzi don’t find him when he looks okay but when his face is all bruised up they can find him in a whole city. He was walking out of the pharmacy with some concealer and ointment when he’s bombarded with cameras asking about James, then someone notices his face and tells everyone person there. Soon enough the questions change from James to what happened to his face, he walks away leaving all the questions unanswered and is aware he’s being followed but doesn’t care. By the time he gets home there are already articles about stupid theorises like, someone insulted James, or a person tried to speak to him. But none of them are even close to what happened, and this is good until he gets a message from Sirius. Sirius was asking him what happened and then Regulus said the pictures with James and Sirius sighed knowingly. Sirius offered for Regulus to stay at his for a while and Regulus agreed before his sentence was finished. He called a taxi and packed his things, he jumped out of the window and waited. The taxi pulled up and Regulus jumped in wanting to get away as soon as possible. The taxi driver didn’t ask any questions apart from where he wanted to go, he made it to the apartment paid the taxi driving giving him and extra $50. He knocked on the door and it immediately opened and he was pushed inside by his brother who took his bag and handed it to James who began to walk down the corridor to what Regulus assumed was the rooms. Remus was sitting on the couch reading a book and peter was playing a game of chess with himself. Sirius sat him down and got him a glass of water with ice. Sirius looked like he was about to ask him questions about what happened but Regulus hugged him before he could, every feeling he had held in came crashing out and straight onto Sirius’s shirt. Sirius hugs him back and just lets him sob. Sirius helps him walk to his room which has another bed on the other side along with posters and pictures of the band. Regulus assumes someone else is in this room as well but he is to tired to care, he got into bed and Sirius tucked him in kissing his forehead good night and leaving turning the light off on his way out. Soon after he woke up to the sound of someone trying to come in quietly but failing. The person who Regulus had no recognised as James cam and sat by his bed, thinking Regulus was asleep. James started to apologise and say how he should of known better because of what happened to Sirius and it was dumb of him to hug Regulus. Then he said something which made Regulus feel funny inside. He said that he hoped Regulus got better soon because he had taken a liking to him and wanted to hang out more even if they cant do anything like hug or walk too close to each other. Regulus felt him stand up and kiss his forehead lightly, this felt different to when Sirius did it earlier because it wasn’t coming from his brother it was coming from a very cute singer. James hovered over him for a moment then walked to his bed and Regulus heard him open his drawers to get clothes ( Regulus thinks ) then he moves his cover and jumps into bed. Regulus fell into a lovely deep sleep that night the best one he’s had in a long time.
