Chapter Text

The bustling sounds of the Las Nevadas Casino fills your ears as you stood behind the marble top counter of the main bar that made it's home on the very bottom floor of the otherwise very large casino. You move your arm back and forth along the smooth material with a white rag, wiping and cleaning down the counter tops as a couple of people sat on the stools on the other side with their drinks, casually talking or laughing loudly which only added to the other sounds of the building.

The cash sound of coins and slot machines going off, jackpots going off once in a while and people cheering and celebrating, or weeping from their losses. You finish wiping off the counter and let out a sigh of relief, now turning your attention to an empty glass cup and begin to wipe that down too. You were so focused on it though you almost didn't hear footsteps walking up to you and you turned your head to see a man with orange hair and fluffy black ears comping out of the top, wearing the same white collared dress shirt and long black suspenders and black dress shoes as you.

"Hey Y/N, I can take over for you. You take a break!" He offers as he goes behind the counter with you, and you return his smile as you set down the rag and glass. "Thanks a lot Fundy! I really need one!" You reply while lightly fanning your hand in front of your face. You had to admit that being inside of the casino for so long got to you after a while, feeling all stuffy from the mix of dim and bright neon lights, loud sounds, and occasionally smokey air that filled the air from all of the smokers. The smells also burned your nostril hairs and burned your lungs whenever you breathed it in.

You give Fundy a light nod before you exit from behind the counter and headed right for the front doors, pushing yourself through the spinning glass doors and out into the hot city, completely unprotected from the bright, burning desert sun other than for a couple of artificial trees giving shade. As soon as you stepped out of the air conditioned building you felt the heat hit you like a wall, or like you just walked into a wall of blast furnaces. You squinted your eyes from the sudden harsh sunlight and blinked a few times until you got used to the sudden change of light. The city of Las Nevadas was just as crowded and busy as the inside of the casino, but somehow much calmer out here and a lot more room to move thanks to the city being in the middle of the burning hot desert. You felt like you could actually breathe out here.

You close your (e/c) eyes and take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth, allowing your shoulders to slump and relax before you opened your eyes and started your way down the sidewalk to take a short walk around the city. Now that you weren't in that stuffy casino you could hear your thoughts again, but whether that be a good thing or not you weren't sure.

You have no doubt that moving to Las Nevadas was the best thing for you and your mental health! Shortly after L'manbug was blown up by Dream, Techno, and Phil for the final time you were tired of constantly having to rebuild your little cozy cottage every time only to have it destroyed. Not to mention even when it was still all in one piece and Tubbo was president you still never felt at peace or as happy as you once did, ever since Wilbur's death. You were one of the people that was affected really hard by it, knowing that he would never come back and be the same ever again. You loved him so much and were willing to follow him to the ends of the earth! But once he blew up L'manburg for the first time and had Phil kill him, you were never the same. And sure you had Ghostbur and he was sweet-you especially loved friend-but he just wasn't the same.

But then, just as you felt completely lost and devastated with nowhere to go, Quackity came to you. You hadn't really talked with the boy nor did you really have a reason to. But when he came to you with open arms and offered you a free place to stay with free food, shelter and more you couldn't refuse. You would think to think twice before agreeing to help Quackity with HIS new rising nation and allow him to be in charge after your horrific experience working for Schlatt, but you figured Quackity would be a safe bet. After all, he too was used and abused by Schlatt, besides, the whole point of Las Nevadas was to show that Quackity would be better than Schlatt and not use his friends!

And ever since then, you've never been happier! You were away from Dream, and L'manburg, and all of them. Miles and miles away safe in the sand dunes and big buildings of Las Nevadas.

You ended up getting an ice cold soda from one of the vending machines and took a seat on one of the only shaded benches in the area and took a sip from the cold metal can. You let out a sigh of satisfaction when you accidentally eavesdrop on some other people's conversation in passing. "Did you hear? Apparently Wilbur is back from the dead!"

The woman's statement caused you to perk up and whip your head around to look at the two girls who were walking away. "Wait seriously? But how?" The other one asked in curiosity and shock. "Beats me." Her friend replied and they continued walking. You couldn't help but look down at your feet as you shifted them uncomfortably, your emotions, feelings and thoughts running wild now-a big contrast to the calmness and relaxation they were once in.

He's back? Wilbur's really back?? No, that can't be right... that's impossible!.... Right? You thought to yourself.

Your stomach flipped violently and your hands and body began to shake the more you thought about it and you couldn't just sit still anymore. You quickly stood up and started speed walking down the sidewalk back to the casino. You had to tell someone about this, TALK to someone about this! But you couldn't go to Quackity, he hated Wilbur and still does. You didn't want to tell any of the others because you weren't really friends with them and didn't trust them with this whole situation. There was really only one person you could trust, who you could tell this to.

Fundy.

-

You get back to the casino and rush inside before going straight towards the bar where Fundy was still working, lifting his head to look at you. But his smile falls into a confused expression after seeing your nervous and troubled one. "Fundy, is there some place we can talk? Privately?" You ask in a low volume, glancing around to make sure Quackity or anyone else isn't around at the moment. "Uhh sure?" He agrees and follows you through an employee's only door, the two of you now alone. He turns to face you as you keep your gaze to the floor, arms wrapped around your own while you didn't move or look up to meet Fundy's concerned gaze. Your throat was starting to close up and you felt tears pricking at your eyes ready to break out, but you were managing to keep it together.

"So... is something wrong?" He asks, finally breaking the silence.
"I mean.. I don't know.. Maybe? It's just.." You took a moment to collect your thoughts. "While I was out on a walk I overheard these two girls talking about something and they said that.." You trailed off again. It was REALLY hard to talk about this, and you could only imagine how Fundy would react once you tell him that his father was somehow brought back to life! But you eventually manage to compose yourself and take a deep breath, raising your head to look up at him.

"Wilbur's back. He's alive!"
