"Alright, now that everyone's here let's get this thing over with." Norisuke said, placing down the tripod In front of the living room. He turned the camera on and started to adjust it and have it focus on the couch.
He could feel the stares of everyone behind him waiting for him to finish so they could take this photo and get on with their day. A heat of embarrassment rose inside of him as this was showing that he wasn't good with technology. He rose and cleared his throat. "How about you guys all get situated while I work on the camera." Everyone mumbled something but did as they were told.
Jobin let out a large yawn and stretched as far as he could to the ceiling. "Feels good to be home." he turned towards Mitsuba giving her a quick kiss. Mitsuba smiled, "Agreed." The two sat down with Jobin sitting right in the middle and Mitsuba on his left.
"This is so stupid." Joshu grumbles loudly. "Why does Jobin get to be in the middle?"
"Because he's the oldest. Now shut up and get behind him." Norisuke says checking to see if the batteries were even in the camera.
Joshu obliges but not without saying a few rude words where there wasn't even an attempt to keep to himself.
"Hey it's alright, bro." Hato says coming around to comfort her younger brother. "It's finally time that we accept the fact that dad just loves Jobin more than any of us and no matter how much we try... we'll never be as good as him."
Jobin slowly looked over his shoulder.
"It's true."
"Hey, being the oldest has its downsides, ya know."
"Oh yes you can't forget about the downsides! Like your Lambo that daddy bought you- or excuse me- helped you buy."
"And all those times he takes you out to baseball games but doesn't even bother to ask us."
"Okay first off, I paid Dad back all the money that Lamborghini was. And second you two don't even like sports, what are you even complaining about?"
"Wow. Not even a pinch of sympathy. Joshu, once this photo is done how about you and I go out and have fun downtown being the middle children."
"Yeah alright. But I want to stop at that new figure store that opened up and see if they have any cool new figures for my collection." Joshu bragged.
"And maybe after that we can stop at the park and see if there's any beetles that need new homes. Give them to someone who really needs them. Like a nature preserve."
"Sounds like fun, Hato."
Jobin shook his head facing forward "God, you two are children."
Hato and Joshu snickered behind him.
"Um... Mr. Norisuke?" Josuke asks, "Where should I go?"
Norisuke looked up, mapping out where the newest family member should go. "Um, how about you stand next to Joshu. Joshu move over a little bit."
"Jouske~!" Daiya calls skipping over towards him. "I'll stand right next to you!" she explains nuzzling into his arm.
Josuke sighs, "Great."
Jobin suddenly looked paranoid, looking around the room for something.
"Something wrong, dear?"
"Yeah. Where's Tsurugi?"
"Over here!" A voice came entering through the front door. It was Tsurugi alongside Iwasuke down at his hip.
"You brought the dog?" Joshu asked annoyingly.
"Of course. He's a member of this family. He's a good boy and I'm teaching him many tricks. I want him in this photo."
Nobody said anything.
"What do you think, dad?"
"Huh?"
"Should Tsurugi's dog be in the photo?"
Norisuke looked down at his grandson and his dog. Without even a second thought he says, "Of course, he's family. I made him a dog house and everything."
"Un... belivable."
"Do you need assistance, Mr. Higashikata?" Kei Nijimura, the housemaid asked as if appearing from nowhere.
"Ah Kei, um." He leaned in close whispering, so no one else could hear. "Think you can help me with this camera? I can't seem to get it to work."
"Of course."
"All I need is for you to take a picture of us and make sure everyone's in frame and that the camera is focused."
Kei nodded. He handed the maid the camera and sat side by side with his son. Hato wrapped her arms around her dad going in for a hug. Norisuke accepted it and gave her a quick kiss on her head.
Tsurugi tried to climb onto the couch but couldn't make it all the way up without the help of his dad. He placed him down with a loud thump.
"Iwasuke, come here boy!" Tsurugi called. The dog tilted his head. "Come sit up here! Up here on the couch with me!"
Iwasuke seemed to actually listen to Tsurugi. He walked up to him and sniffed his shoes, turned around and plopped onto the ground near Norisuke without a care in the world.
Joshu nearly burst out laughing, "What was that about him being smart?"
Tsurugi glared at his uncle. He grabbed a pillow off the couch to hug instead.
"Don't worry, Tsurugi." Jobin reassured, "With enough training, that dog might learn to take care of himself on his own without any help. Unlike Joshu." He whispered that last part but it was enough for Joshu to call him out on it.
"Alright, the timer is set." Kei announced.
"Wait, there's a timer?" asked Norisuke.
"Yes. I have it set for 10 seconds."
"Well, if there's a timer then come join us!"
"What?"
"Get in the photo Ms. Nijimura!" Daiya cheered.
"Are you sure?"
Everyone agreed. Hurrying her over.
Kei smiled awkwardly "O-Okay then." she whispered softly quickly making her way towards the couch.
"Joshu, Josuke, make room." Norsiuke orders with the wave of his hand. "She'll go in-between you guys."
The boys scooted away from each other so Kei could make her way in-between. The camera started to flash quicker.
Hato tilted her head, Norisuke crossed his legs, Joshu leaned in, Kei and Josuke both smiled, Jobin crossed his arms, Tsurugi hugged the pillow tightly, Daiya wrapped her arms around Mitsuba, Mitsuba lightly held onto her arm.
"Nobody move!" Norisuke shouted. "And smile!"
