“Wahaha, the next show is going to be absolutely amazing! Or, as Emu would put it… Wonderhoy!!” Tsukasa exclaimed, shoving Rui in the shoulder- who responded with a quiet laugh of his own, placing his hand on his chin as if in thought.
“I’m sure it will be, fufu.” Rui said, his smile feline-esque as per usual. “I will get to work on the assets as soon as we get back.”
The two actors had been walking around Phoenix Wonderland after-hours for an hour or so now, brainstorming for the next show; they’d finally settled on a yōkai-slash-supernatural theme that was sure to give the crowd quite a fun fright- yet not scary enough to be mistaken for a recycled Halloween event. A lot of thought went into this stage business, and no one ever gave them enough credit!
“We should probably turn back now, then, so you can have enough time t-” Tsukasa began, but was suddenly cut off by a sharp pain in his chest. He staggered backwards, clutching it- just a stitch in his side, surely..? But they never hurt quite this bad… fuck, this hurt.
Rui stopped soon after, turning to Tsukasa with a worried expression that quickly turned to horror. “Y-You’re bleeding, Tsukasa..!”
Was he..? His head was spinning, but he still looked down, removing his hand from the ‘injury’, and…
That was… a lot of blood.
Tsukasa’s body made to fall over, but Rui quickly caught him- before slowly lowering him to the pavement, yet still holding him in his arms. His face was blurred, but Tsukasa swore he was crying… “What’s with the… long face..? It’s just… a scratch… waha-” He coughed, blood pouring from his lips. “ha…” This wasn’t good. This wasn’t good.
Was he… going to die..?
“Stop wasting your energy..!! I’ll- I’ll call an ambulance!” Rui fumbled over his words, removing one hand from Tsukasa to fish around in his pockets for his phone. When he found it, he quickly dialed 119 and held the phone up to his ear.
Ring… ring…
Even sounds were getting muffled, now, but he could still make out Rui’s panicked, “My… got shot… needs… right away…!”
After a moment, although what felt like an eternity, Rui hung up and returned to holding Tsukasa fully. “Stay… me, Tsukasa!” He practically yelled, occasionally shaking him when he started dozing off.
But he was just… so tired…
“Don’t… your dream?! …gonna… star!” Rui’s words became more frantic, and Tsukasa couldn’t even focus his vision on him anymore- staring off at the late evening sky.
He didn’t even realize he’d begun crying, too.
“Tsukasa..!!” Rui shook Tsukasa again, harder this time, as the blonde’s eyes began to fall closed. “...can’t… without you…”
Tsukasa could only muster up mouthing the words ‘I love you’ before his world went dark.
