Chapter Text
Wanda Maximoff was full of regret when she died. She regretted killing all those people in Kamar Taj in her quest to get back her sons. She also felt shame when she realized what she had done and the boys' reaction when she injured their mother.
She deserves nothing less but the fires of hell when she died.
So she was a bit surprised when she discovered that wasn't what happened to her. Instead she got reincarnated into a strange world as a girl named Haruno Sakura.
A pink-haired girl born in a merchant family.
At first, she was oblivious to her past during her first two years of life. It was only when she was three years old that Wanda's memories came back to her in bits and pieces. Alongside her memories was her access to her chaos magic. She thought she had lost her power when she died but it seemed that it came with her when she was reborn in that new world.
Strange things began to happen around her home when she began to accidentally use her chaos magic. Her parents of course were confused at first. However, when odd things kept on happening frequently like floating objects or things appearing and disappearing around Sakura, her mother and father began to suspect that she was responsible for the strange occurrences. Her parents were shocked but delighted when they found out that she was gifted with some kind of power. They assumed that it was a kekkei genkai. The first one in their family and Sakura couldn't dispute that claim.
"Look Kizashi! Look what Sakura is doing to her toy!" Her mother, Haruno Mebuki said as she watched the teddy bear float in the air in front of Sakura.
"That's amazing, darling! I can't believe Sakura can do that!" was Kizashi's reply.
Meanwhile, Wanda just concentrated on her teddy bear and guided her chaos magic into creating a dress for her teddy.
A moment later, there was a scarlet shimmer around the teddy bear where a red dress came into existence.
"That's incredible Sakura!" her mother gushed while Wanda simply smiled at her parents happily.
It seemed that she was slowly getting her control back. Wanda probably just needed a lot of practice to improve more on it.
Wanda, now Sakura, was advanced for her age. She learned quickly about everything in her new world. From the language to the culture and the history of Konoha while her parents were proud and ecstatic that she was a prodigy at everything she set her mind to.
In the three years she has been in that world, Sakura noticed people doing strange things like walking on walls or leaping from rooftop to rooftop. She observed these things through her bedroom window on the second floor of their house. That was when she learned about the ninjas.
So by the time she was four years old, Sakura decided that she wanted to become a protector of Konoha just to keep her mind occupied from the grief she felt of losing her sons. She was also four years old when she got all her memories back and had full control of her chaos magic. It must be because of her mental maturity that allowed her to fully grasp the sheer potential of her power to the point that her range of control could encompass one fourth of Konoha despite her age. A little more than Westview.
Of course, she didn't use her chaos magic to mind control the citizens of Konoha but she was aware of the people within her range. She was privy to their surface thoughts and the goings on within Konoha. She was glad that she was free of the Darkhold's influence or else she would have gone the wrong path again.
However, it was only when Sakura encountered some injustice in the playground that she was tempted to wipe some people's minds.
There was a blonde haired boy who usually watched the children play while hanging alone in the playground. She didn't know his name, but she felt sorry for him for how other children treated him. The children mocked or scorned him for being there like he didn't belong. Sakura would have assumed that it was just kids being mean to other kids. However, when adults became involved, Sakura's sense of justice reared its ugly head. She just couldn't ignore the blonde haired boy's plight, especially when the adults began to verbally abuse him.
"Get out of here, demon!" a woman growled as she glared down at the boy sitting on the swing.
Sakura watched with growing anger as the woman loomed over the boy while the blonde boy cowered as if he expected a terrible beating.
"Yeah! Scram you good for nothing brat!" another woman spat out furiously while throwing some sand from the sand box at him.
Meanwhile, the rest of the adults - parents or guardians of the children there - watched with contempt. Sakura focused on them and could easily discern some of the thoughts running through their minds.
What's the jinchuuriki doing here?!
How dare the nine-tailed demon fox container show up here!
He shouldn't come near the other children!
That jinchuuriki is dangerous! He doesn't belong in the playground where children are present!
Sakura managed to read the minds of the parents there and she frowned when she found out the truth about the jinchuuriki. She had heard about the attack of the nine-tailed fox five years ago and the boy must have been used to stop the nine-tailed beast that resulted in him becoming a jinchuuriki.
If she read the minds of the higher ups, she might learn who sealed the nine-tails on the boy. Just a thought for later when she got the time to investigate.
The adults continue to curse the boy and Sakura could feel the malice oozing from their minds as they looked at the poor boy. It seemed this wasn't the first time that people have acted negatively around him, just by gauging the blonde boy's thoughts. Sakura could see the shame and the fear in the boy's mind and she felt incredibly bad for him. Being a jinchuuriki had made the boy a pariah in Konoha.
If only I could erase the hatred from the people's minds. Sakura thought sadly. The boy wouldn't have to suffer and become ostracized because of something he doesn't know or have control over.
Deciding that she had enough, Sakura climbed down from the monkey bars where she had been observing for the past minutes and ran towards the boy with the intent to help him.
"Stop it!" she yelled as she halted in front of the boy in the swing to stand between the surrounding adults and the blonde boy. "Why are you talking to him like that?! He doesn't deserve your hatred!"
"Yes, he does! He deserves our hatred for what he's done!" the blue-haired woman snarled.
"If only you knew what he is, little girl," said another.
"He is just a kid!" Sakura snapped at them. "And you are all ganging up on him over something that he doesn't even know about!"
"What do you know?! You are just a kid yourself!" A man sneered at her.
Sakura snarled and said, "I know enough that what you are doing is wrong! So leave him alone! He hasn't done anything to any of you!"
"Sakura!"
Without turning around, she could hear her mother approaching and felt somewhat relieved that her mother wasn't thinking the same negative thoughts as the other adults. Her mother wasn't mentally condemning the blonde boy. In fact, she could read that her mother was proud of her for defending the poor boy.
"We're not going to leave. The only one who is leaving this place is the boy! He has no right to be here! He is a monster!" the blue-haired woman said angrily.
"No, you are all monsters for treating a child like he is the devil incarnate!" Sakura shouted just as furious. "So leave before I do something I will regret!"
She threatened while adding a bit of chaos magic into her voice so that the people would heed her order.
And just like that, she watched as a spark of scarlet swiftly entered the eyes of the people who opposed her, where they soon followed her order without saying anything. Like puppets, the adults began to silently and stiffly walk. They grabbed their protesting children before hurriedly leaving the playground.
"Sakura, what did you just do?!" her mother, Mebuki, asked when she finally reached a seething Sakura. Her mother sounded horrified as she watched the other adults leave without making a sound of protest to anyone.
"I just took care of a bunch of pests," was Sakura's answer as she pivoted around to face the boy still sitting on the swing.
"Sakura!" her mother scolded, but Sakura ignored her.
Sakura mildly felt guilty about ordering the hateful adults but she easily dismissed the thought when she noted the bright smile on the blonde boy's face.
"That was so cool!" the boy gushed as he suddenly stood up from the swing. "How did you do that?! How did you make them leave with just your words?!"
Sakura scrutinized the child from head to toe, trying to find some injury from the encounter but the boy seemed fine.
"Oh, that. That was nothing," she replied, waving a hand dismissively.
"I want to learn how to do that too! Can you teach me?!" the boy asked, hopping from one foot to another.
Sakura was amused by the boy's hyperactive reaction and simply said, "I'm afraid that what I did can hardly be taught."
The blonde looked disappointed at that, but he remained bright when he said, "I want to be as cool as you dattebayo! What's your name? My name is Uzumaki Naruto!"
"It's nice to meet you, Naruto-kun!" Sakura said as she reached out to grasp his hand. "My name is Haruno Sakura."
"Thank you for what you did, Sakura-chan! I am really glad you were there to help me!" Naruto said happily as he shook her hand.
"No problem, Naruto-kun." She smiled wryly at him while she let his hand go. Then, a thought came to her before she said, "Do you want to be my friend?"
Naruto's eyes widened in surprise at her words right before he jumped and replied joyously. "Yes! I want to be your friend, Sakura-chan!"
"That's great!" She grinned at him. "Then, you wouldn't mind playing with me while we are here?"
"Yes, let's go and play!" Naruto responded enthusiastically.
"You are not going anywhere yet, Sakura-chan! Not before you explain yourself!" her mother finally said after a moment of silently standing nearby.
"Can it wait until we get home, mom?" She sighed as she turned to face her mother. "I want to play with Naruto-kun!"
"And you will but not before you tell me what you just did to those people!" Mebuki stated.
"All I did was save Naruto-kun from those malicious people, mom!" She answered defensively. "I didn't do anything wrong!"
"Yes, you did. You force those people to leave with your own words!" Mebuki said.
"Yes," she reluctantly agreed. "But they wouldn't have left Naruto-kun alone if I didn't do anything!"
"I understand that, Sakura-chan! But next time don't use your powers to force people to do your bidding!"
"I can't promise that, mom! What if those people tried to harm Naruto-kun?! Do I just let them do what they want to him?!"
"Of course not!"
"Then, I can't promise you that I won't use my power if it's for something good despite getting rid of people's willpower!"
"It's still wrong, Sakura!"
"Why don't we continue this conversation at home, mom. Please?" Sakura begged while directing her soulful eyes on her mother.
"Fine!" her mother said after a long pause. "We will continue this conversation when we get home."
"Can I go and play now?" Sakura asked hopefully.
"Yes, go ahead. Play with your new friend, Sakura."
"Thanks mom! You are awesome!" Sakura beamed at her.
"Let's go Naruto-kun!" she said as she grabbed Naruto's hand and dragged him forward.
Thereafter, Sakura and Naruto played together. They were grateful that most of the children had left with their parents so there was plenty of space for them to play on.
From that day on Naruto became her best friend. But more than that, that was also the day when certain people learned about Sakura's dangerous abilities.
