Chapter Text
' ' = The Voice
" " = Dialogue
Ever since I found myself in this strange, new world, I have this constant voice talking in my head. It's saying one thing over and over, and I cant make it stop.
'Your name is Traveler-san. Travel through Teyvat. Beat everything in your path without any outside help.'
I had no idea what that meant. I can't have any assistance in what I do? What if it's a fight for my life? Am I to just perish over and over? Suffering alone with nobody to turn to? Well, it seems like that voice that rings in my head was serious. I have no idea what the consequences are, and I don't want to find out. Speaking of that voice...it seems familiar. I just woke up in this place...with Paimon by my side..so why does he seem familiar? Have I heard his voice before?
Is the voice...me?
But how is that possible?
..I don't want to dwell on this for much longer. Paimon wants to take me to Mondstadt...and I want to complete this mission of mine as fast as possible.
However, before I could follow her, I found myself landing my eyes on a boulder, just offshore. I found my legs moving toward it, until I had to force myself to swim.
'Why am I doing this?' I found myself asking in my head. 'I didn't tell my body to move! I never agreed to this!' I was swimming and swimming with no control of my body.
That voice...it's not controlling me...right? I didn't want to believe it. Why only now, when I find myself in this world, did it finally decide to show itself? I couldn't find an answer, it didn't speak to me any more.
I landed on a small boulder; I felt like passing out. I was so tired. I thought I was going to drown. "Is this...a precious chest?" I asked out loud once I climbed to the big boulder. Opening it, I found many things flying out. It scared me and I almost fell into the water. Seeing the items on the ground, I felt compelled to touch them. Whenever I did so, they just disappeared. What was more weird was that my pockets felt heavier after that. Are they transporting themselves onto my person? What is this world?! Nothing makes sense!
Soon enough, instead of heading to this Statue of the Seven, I found myself jumping at a pillar. It had a common chest on top of it, which was just out of reach. I kept on trying and trying, falling and falling, until soon enough, my hand touched the chest, and it opened. 'Finally!' I sat on the ground, regaining my stamina. I touched the shiny purple rocks, and continued my journey, wherever it may lead me.
That statue. I found myself drawn toward it. I wanted to touch it, and for once, my body let me. I touched my hand onto the base of the statue, and saw some strange, greenish particle lunge itself into my person. My body started glowing, parts of my clothes turned this greenish blue color, the color of wind. Anemo was it called? Whatever it was called, my next destination was making it into Mondstadt, and finally setting foot into the city.
Soon enough, the city was within my grasp. I set foot onto it. It was beautiful, bustling, yet a sense of familiarity. Have I been here before? No...not possible. Why does it look familiar?
I talked to the blacksmith, Wagner was his name, and he told me about the weapons he was selling. I took a look at them, and saw they had a green outline. They were 2 star weapons. How I know this, I don't know. I may never know what is wrong with me. Or if there even is something wrong with me... Afterwards, my legs found themselves taking me to Shilou, a jeweler, who sold me 2 star artifacts. Speaking of artifacts, whenever I touch them, I felt my person becoming stronger. Not heavier like when I opened the chest, but stronger. Do these artifacts give me strength? If so, I need to collect the best as soon as I can.
'Go to the land of Geo.' That voice. It spoke to me again. And only I could hear it. Land of Geo? The nation of the Geo Archon? Seems easy enough. But why so quickly? Have I not just arrived in Mondstadt.
Clearly, this voice has a strict plan I need to follow, and I must abide by it.
Good news is that Paimon is no longer by my side, she can not stop me.
...That's what I thought, until my vision started becoming red, and my sight became dark and blurry. Why is this happening? I kept pressing on for a few steps until...she appeared...
"How about we explore the area ahead of us later?" She told me and forced my body to comply. I couldn't regain control until I was out of the..whatever it is. Barrier? Yeah, let's go with barrier.
How dare she stop me! I thought to myself. I decided to try over and over, to see if there was some way to press on.
Whenever I tried again, I saw something else flash on my screen.
"Log Out" It said. I decided to reach my hand out and touch it.
That's when my vision became blurry and also slightly black. I could barely make out my body moving forward, making it through Paimon's control.
"Log in" Flashed and I touched it. Everything became clear for a brief moment until, "Log Out" flashed once more. It appears this is some sort of cycle. And I have to do it to avoid Paimon.
This voice..whatever it is...it's on my side, and I made a good choice to listen to it.
After what felt like countless hours, countless glitching, you could call it, I found a statue and reached out...grasping my body onto it for dear life. The yellow particle lunged into my body. The same thing that happened with the other statue, happened here. This time, something new appeared in my vision.
"Resonate with Geo."
And I did. I reached my hand out, and felt a new power reside within me. This power was different than the one of anemo. This one made me feel bulky, like I could crush my enemies with the ground get it because geo is the earth. As I admired my hands, I saw...once again, text appear in front of me.
"Follow quest." Is what I read out loud. Is this what that mysterious voice wants me to do? If so, then I'll do it. I'll do it till my last breath.
On the ground, I saw yellow sparkles in front of me, as if it was to illuminate my path. It appeared as if I had abilities even I didn't know of, as I immediately, in the blink of an eye, found myself back at Mondstadt, by the waypoint in the city. This voice, whatever it is, is able to take control of me, and send me to where I need to go. At least I don't have to walk as far, only a couple hundred meters.
At the Whispering Woods, I continued walking, admiring the scenery, until I stepped at the end of the yellow sparkles; my vision faded to black, and I found myself hiding behind a tree, with Paimon by my side. I couldn't by my choice, move or talk. I was locked into whatever is happening. I peered out, and saw a massive blue dragon, along with a person next to it. I had a sense of déjà vu upon seeing this. I couldn't be seeing something I already saw...right? The dragon, whatever it was, roared out and flew off, as a response to my powers activating for even a second. That person covered in green turned around, looking around. And, to this day, I swear, they stared straight into my soul, before disappearing into thin air with traces of anemo left behind. Once the coast of clear, Paimon and I left our hiding spot, and we spotted a red crystal floating in the sky.
Suddenly, I felt compelled to do the weirdest thing ever. Using my elemental skill, I placed a geo construct right where the crystal was. Only then, did I finally go investigate and touch it. Strange. Is this a regular occurence? Does this normally happen? Either way, Paimon didn't seem to react to it, so it must be normal.
Whoever this Amber person is, she needs to go away. I can't have her ruining my mission. Do I really have the heart to tell her off after she's been kind to offer her assistance? I can kill the slime easily with my sword...wait what do you mean I can't throw it?
"Just let her shoot the arrow."
The voice must have exceptions. Is this the first one? Or the first of many? Whatever the case is, I let her shoot the slime, and made sure to get a headstart when fighting the hilichurls. I can't let her get in my way. Can't let her assist me-can't let anyone assist me for that matter. Once that was done and over, Amber was going to take me for a tour around the city, when oh no, Stormterror attacked! The tornados ravaged the city with the dragon flying from above. Until suddenly, a tornado sucked me away! The fucking audacity! I mean just how dare you try to kill the great Traveler-san?! Whatever the reason, I found myself flying high, like terrifyingly high above, chasing Stormterror on my windglider, I don't remember when I got it, it was all a blur. I'm pretty sure that during the fight, some voice other than the voice im familiar with spoke to me. Something about manifesting the wind to shoot it at Stormterror? I just breezed haha get it? through it, shooting at Stormterror, until it flew off at Mach speeds..I was also losing altitude and found myself falling through the sky, activating my windglider to catch myself before I splat to the ground.
That sure was a lovely introduction to the city of Mondstadt.
So I have to help 3 seperate people: Amber, Kaeya, and Lisa. Why me? I don't know, it's not like im the main character or something. Haha..that would be ridiculous...
From what I gathered, we need to make the storm go away, and the key to destroying them are in 3 seperate domains. It seemed that the one with Amber was first. I was about to just walk inside, until...
'Switch to anemo or else you want to suffer.'
Why? Why does the voice want me to? Is anemo necessary for this? Well, I did it with no complaints.
Now with anemo on my side, it was go time. Entering, I was greeted with a bunch of vines blocking my path. Using my brain, I noticed that the vines were just low enough to where I could hop over them; very simple stuff. The enemies, the hillichurls were also pretty easy to defeat. Gliding from ruin to ruin, I finally reached the end. Destroying the mechanism, my work was done. Only 2 more to go, and given how boring this one was, I didn't have high hopes. Next on my list was Kaeya. Given that the voice didn't tell me I needed anemo, I decided to switch to geo, it felt natural to me, like this element was the one for me.
Entering the domain, I saw that the puzzles were different. I was about to just go through the domain normally, my body, or rather the voice, made my body just...walk through the wall. WHAT THE ACTUAL??! The wall wasn't real?! Is any of this real? Is this world real? Is this real life...or is it just fantasy? caught in a landslide
This voice. It's been keeping silent this whole time. What does it know? What are your secrets??!
...
No response. As suspected. I decided to carry on, and not have a crisis at such a moment. I didn't encounter as many enemies. Only some slimes, maybe a hillichurl or two. As usual, I placed Starfell Sword which doesn't even use a sword on the ground, which broke the mechanism. Domain number 2 done. Let's hope Lisa is patient and won't shank me for taking so long. I also hope she won't be mad that she was last.
In a similar fashion to the previous domain, I strayed away from the intended path, and opted to breaking out, clinging to walls as I carefully traversed the ruins. Things were smooth sailing until I saw something horrifying.
An electro monument. I don't have electro! I can't go run to Lisa, wherever she is, for help! Was this it? A roadblock? An end to my mission? No, I wasn't going to give up, because something caught my eye in the previous room. The room; it had no ceiling. A saving grace! With precise and careful placement of my elemental skill, I was soon on the roof of the ruins, and was safe to make my way through once more. The final mechanism was soon in sight. I finally achieved what I came here for. By here, I mean this domain. This painstakingly annoying domain. It was clear this was the first of many times where I have to..break the system per say.
And with my efforts, the storm around the city had disappeared. Mondstadt can finally see the light of day again. I can finally continue with my journey in Mondstadt...is what I thought at first.
"Break into Inazuma next. Brave the thunderstorm."
You've got to be kidding me.
I have a feeling that this voice is a masochist. It wants to see me suffer.
