Work Text:

Eijirou was pretty dumb

Of course, Katsuki loves him more than anyone else but he has to admit that his hybrid was an idiot.

He was fully grown but he still acted like a puppy. He was constantly jumping around, always yapping and talking to anyone he saw whenever they go on walks and chewing on things he wasn't supposed to. Heck, Katsuki has to buy new toys damn near every other week. When they were outside, everyone was a friend. But as soon as they get in the house, oh boy, everyone on the outside is an enemy. He would bark at anyone passing by, not knowing that they couldn't hear him. But every time they continue to walk away, his chest fills up with pride.

"Katsuki! Look," he'd always say. "Did good, right? They Left!" His limited vocabulary did nothing to stop him from always talking and seeking validation.

Katsuki was weak. He'd look at him with a quick scoff, "yeah, whatever,"  sure. But the look on his dog's face made him melt. His eyes would widen in shock as if he hasn't gotten the same compliment over and over again. Then, he'd have that big, dumb smile with his sharp, pearly white teeth. His eyes would sparkle, full of joy and pride.

Sometimes, he would jump up from where he was sitting by the window just to run over to his owner and jumps on him with a hug powerful enough to almost knock him to the ground.

Other times, he would yell, much too loud, "Thank you! Keep going then," and go right back to watching out the window intently.

In pet stores was terrible.

Eijirou would always run off to the toy section to play with all of the toys. Katsuki would have to get what he needed fast to be in time to get Eijirou out of the toy aisle before he started chewing on them. Katsuki would tell him off for running off every time, making his pet slouchy and whiney. It never lasted though, because as soon as they would get to the next store that they needed to go he would be back to his smiley, dopey self.

Whenever he was at home and outside, Katsuki finally got a chance to focus on his work, his chores, and whatever he needed to do.

Eijirou was busy in the backyard. Sometimes he would be sunbathing with his shirt off, sometimes he would be rolling around in the grass getting stains on his clothes. Usually, he would be playing with whatever toy he hasn't destroyed yet. He would occasionally run into the house to get a new toy whenever the toy he previously tore or the squeaker popped (which has happened more times than neither Eijirou nor Katsuki can count). When he got his toy and ran back outside, he would go back to what he was previously doing.

When it was time for him to come back inside, Katsuki would have to hose him down because Eijirou had a habit of immediately running up to him to hug and lick him. Sometimes, he would have more fun with the water than with the toy he had. He'd be running and jumping around in it, he'd be attempting to bite it, and he would lay on his back and simply enjoy the feeling of the water consistently hitting his tummy. Once he was hosed down enough, Katsuki would bring him inside for a bath and to eat

Eijirou was dumb, there is no doubt about it. But that's what makes him so loveable. His cluelessness is what drew Katsuki in. He was always so happy and oblivious to the world which made him perfect for comforting Katsuki in his moments of self-doubt. "But Katsuki is perfect master! So nice an' so big. Always cares for me. Always amazing."

He was always so sweet but he was just so dumb sometimes

I guess you can't have everything
