Work Text:

Enid was acting strangely.

Wednesday was writing, as usual at this time of the evening, and there was no sound, only a calm silence. It would be normal if Enid was outside of the room doing any annoyingly happy kind of stuff she usually did, but this was the point, she was in the room without being noisy.

And that was distracting.

She could feel her roommate presence, smell her perfume, mentally visualize her scrolling on her phone but she could not hear her. It felt like some notes was missing in a symphony, most people could be satisfied with it, but she was feeling this dissonance and it was interfering with her concentration.

She had almost finished this page of her novel and would need to go pick more paper as it was the last one she had on her desk. She would be able to check what happened to the blonde girl at this time.

At the exact moment she extracted the paper from the typewriter, a new pile appeared next to the machine as two hands with colorful painted nails put it there. She turned to observe the werewolf slip silently back to her bed.

Very strange.

She raised an eyebrow before turning back, picked a page from the newly refilled stock and put it in the typewriter.  A few minutes later, she heard the door open and close softly and Enid’s vanilla scent faded. She finally left the room at the very end of Wednesday’s writing hour.

At least, she should be able to finish her chapter without the questioning thoughts that was running into her head.

She typed the final word and put the page in the dedicated case with the precedent. Stretching her sore arms and back, she stood up and went to the closet where she stored her favorite tea in order to make some as her relaxing post-writing moment.

While she was addicted to quads, sometimes she appreciated some good tea to vent her minds.

She froze when she could not find the bag in the closet, frowning. Who could have stolen it?

The answer came quickly when the door opened as the colorful girl returned, a teapot from which emanated the lemon and mint fragrance of said tea in her hands. Enid poured a cup and placed it on the desk. Then, she went back sitting on her bed, watching the goth with a warm smile.

The Addams sat down, took the cup, and hummed before she tasted it. It was perfect, she could have made it herself without any differences. She looked at Enid with surprise and nodded.

“Thank you, it is delicious. May I ask how you achieved such a perfect result at the first try?”

The werewolf cheeks turned pale pink at the compliment.

“I have a wolf nose, and I asked Thing for some advice.”

Of course, Thing and she had become friends and seemed to talk a lot. She should have known it came from him. But it didn’t answer every question.

“Why are you acting so considerate today? I mean, you are always awfully considerate, but today it seems different.”

Her roommate smiled at her shyly, her fingers curling her hair, her deep blue eyes avoiding the black gaze.

“Oh, well- Ya know, I just felt like it. I wanted to make your day easier, something like that.”

“You sure have put a lot of effort to achieve this purpose, I am pleased. May I do something to please you in return?” she asked sincerely.

She looked shocked as she was not expecting that kind of proposal, and thought for a while, Wednesday waiting patiently.

“If you don’t mind, would you come on a da- hum, do some shopping with me in Jericho?” she finally asked with puppy eyes.

Wednesday was not very fond of shopping as she usually couldn’t find anything interesting such as exotic poisons, venomous animals, or torture instruments in the normies mall, but she could make an exception to thank Enid. And even if she wouldn’t ever say it out loud, she might have some fun as long as it is with her.

“Fine, I accept to come with you.”

The excited blonde girl hopped with joy, clapping her hand, and started to plan their trip to Jericho for the next weekend. The black-haired girl hid her smile as she turned back to refill the cup. There wasn’t missing notes in her symphony anymore.
