Jakarta had always been a special place for Liang Weikeng.
It's the place where he managed to reach the finals in World Tour series for the first time, alongside his newly assigned partner, Wang Chang.
Who knew that less than a year later, they managed to break into the World Top 10 of Men's Doubles ranking?
Ever since they were partnered, Weikeng knew he just had the perfect partner. Changa, as he would call him, has superb speed, amazing netting skills, and great reaction towards oncoming shuttlecocks, a perfect complementary for his point guard playing style. It's no wonder he was dubbed “The Young Sukamuljo”, he was basically a copypaste of his idol in terms of skill.
Well, that's not all. It really can't be helped that Changa happens to have one of the most beautiful smiles he ever seen. A smile that always emits whenever they are playing, training, or practically anywhere together.
Frankly speaking, he was kind of handsome as well. Not that it's a fact that is only well known to Weikeng, as his posts on Weibo and Instagram had always exploded in likes and comments from fans that really admired his looks.
Who can blame them? He really is such a perfect boy and he just love being with him alot.
Ever since Denmark Open though, Weikeng had finally confessed his feelings to Changa. Happiest day in his life couldn't describe his feelings when he heard how much Changa likes him alot as well.
So it's finally official, they are boyfriends now. Well, they can't exactly go public with this one, of course. But that doesn't stop them from being the best they can.
No, not at all. If anything, ever since then they've improved drastically since that loss. Starting of 2023 right off the bat, they managed to reach the finals of Super 1000 tournament in Malaysia, only defeated by the current world number one, as well as winning yet another Super 750 tournament in India, all within two weeks. Within less than a year they've been partnered with, they now sit comfortably right at the current top 10 in the rankings.
And now they're back in Jakarta, back where it all started. Well, they've lost, but that doesn't exactly mattered alot right now.
Ever since their performance, it's safe to say that Changa's popularity have exploded alot. Even when they aren't playing, there are a LOT of them who's there looking for him, whether its on court, on malls, or on hotels.
Too bad they did not realize his loved one had already stand by his side though.
Weikeng had never been jealous of Changa's popularity. If anything, it just made him feel luckier to have such a big star as his beloved.
Also these days, Changa's hair is also getting messier, almost looks like he had been electrocuted by an angry Pikachu. Weikeng loved to tease his boyfriend's hair by calling it a metal dish scrub. He also really loved playing with his hair alot, often scrubbing it whenever possible.
Back in their hotel room, after they've watched their compatriots played, Weikeng rested with Changa on their bed. They're both kind of worn out from the environment of Istora, even though they didn't even play. But still, nothing brings Weikeng more comfort than lying right next to Changa and carressing him.
Since the moment they've confessed they always took every opportunity to get close to each other. Carressing each other's hairs and snuggling their face into each other, it's these kinds of moment they've always enjoyed alot.
“Keng...”
“Hm?”
“You're not jealous of me, are you?”
“Of course not, why would you think so?”
“Because lately I've been exploding in popularity but I feel like you should've been in spotlight much more. Couldn't blame you when you want to have some of that spotlight early on.”
Weikeng laughs at that sentiment. “I know that I may not be as popular as you but that doesn't mean I'm jealous. I never really seek a lot of attention, you know? I just loved how many people have supported you.”
Of course, typical family boy answer. Weikeng had always been very humble, regardless on what situations they've faced. That's why Changa loved him alot in the first place.
“But man, you know you could really use some haircut right? Metal scrub,” Weikeng laughs as he teases his boyfriend again and rubbing his messy hair a lot more, which incites giggles from Changa.
“Ahahaha, stop it, fat boy!” Changa tries to fight back some of the teasing as he flashes his bright smile again at Weikeng.
As Weikeng saw that smile, he stopped and snuggled closer to Change. He never wanted this moment to ever disappear from his life.
“I hope our partnership stays strong... I want to see us standing there on the podium of Olympics and World Championships, smiling at how much we've come far...”
“Hey, who needs partnership when we can already be boyfriends?”
Weikeng once again laughs at Changa's remark. He then plants a kiss on his boyfriend's forehead.
“I love you so much, metal scrub.”
“Love you too, fat boy.”
As both of them exchanged love languages again, Weikeng plants even more kisses on his cheeks, face, and a kiss on his lip. Changa kissed him back in response, cuddling and snuggling even closer to his boyfriend.
For Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang, nothing can ever beat the feeling of both of them in each other's arms. Except for getting a gold Olympic medal, probably. But that wouldn't matter anyways if they still can't be with each other.
