“Undyne be careful with those! We don’t have any spares!”
Undyne was spinning around a white construction pole.
”Yeah yeah okay, hot stuff.”
They were currently building a pool, it was 78 degrees out! So Undyne seriously needed to cool off. Of course, it wasn’t as bad as Hotland. DEFINITELY not as bad as Hotland. But it wasn’t the chill temperature of waterfall (60 degrees most of the time) that undyne enjoyed, so yeah. A pool was needed.

Undyne was building the pool while Alphys read the instructions and told her what to do. It was a medium size pool, not a blow up but not a giant one either. It was a simple up ground pool big enough to fit snug in the corner of their (surprisingly big) backyard. It was 5 feet deep, but did have a shallow end where it was 3 1/2 feet deep. (Alphys added that herself counting her and sans were pretty short.) Speaking of sans, where are the brothers?
”H-hey uh.. Undyne.. w-w-where are Sans and Papyrus?”
Undyne looked away from her project and at her girlfriend, “I.. actually don’t know, but having Papyrus help build would be cool so.. I’ll go fetch em!”
Alphys watched as Undyne ran to the back door, turned around, blew her a kiss, and entered the house.
How did i score such a hot girlfriend!?

Undyne ran into the house, and started searching for the brothers.
The first place she checked was their room upstairs.
The room was messy on one side and clean on the other, the weird part was it was almost like there was an invisible wall that separated the two spaces, a clean line. Undyne, to test it, stood on one side of the room (Papyrus’s) then walked to the other side. Hell even the air was different! Even as weird and crazy as this room was (just like the residents) there were no skeletons in sight. So Undyne walked out the door that was half on each side of the room and left to go look somewhere else.
She didn’t expect them to be anywhere else upstairs, seeing that the only other rooms were the others bedrooms, including her own, and the bathroom, but the door was wide open and the light was off. So unless they were playing hide and seek and one of them decided that “ hey the shower is a good spot!” Nobody was in there
so downstairs it is.

Alphys decided to go check the mailbox while she waited for Undyne so she could feel like she wasn’t useless. She walked around the house and into the front yard when she saw a monster she recognized from Hotland walking by. She didn’t want to make conversation with someone she didn’t know (she had only seen the monster, never talked to her or anything,) So she just waved quickly and turned to her original plan.
as she opened the mailbox the monster girl tapped her on the shoulder “EEP!” She shouted, surprised by the sudden contact.
”Hey!” The monster said with a smile. “I didn’t mean to scare you! But sans and papyrus live here yes?”
Alphys took a second to respond when she finally counted all the ways that this conversation could end in disaster, and chose she safest option.
”Y-yes. They do. D-do you uh.. want to see them?”
The monster girl shook her head. “Aha no! But I was on my way to the store when I saw you here and thought ‘hey might as well warn them now!’ You know?”
Alphys didn’t know. “N-no I don’t.. wha-what.. what do you want to warn them about..?”
”Well the heat of course! They lived in Snowdin back underground yes? I’m just letting you know that the heat could make them really sick and faint-y! My partner is from Snowdin so I bought a blow up pool for the store when I heard how hot it was going to be today. Thank goodness I did! It could’ve been really bad for them! But I assume you already knew that and got the situation covered yes?”
Ohh no. Oh no oh no oh no!
”Y-yep!” She shouted a bit louder than she meant to. “All good h-here gotta go bye!” She shouted already walking to the backyard “Good luck with your partner!” And she disappeared behind the fence.
She had remembered why sans was always so hesitant to come over her place when she had lived in Hotland! How could she have forgotten!! She had to go tell undyne quick! Hopefully she found them already!
…”Hey lady you forgot your mail!”

The brothers weren’t in the kitchen, nor the dining room. So they were either downstairs or in the living room. Undyne betted on the living room. As for some strange reason Papyrus hated the basement and refused to go down there no matter what.
Before she got into the living room the front door opened to show frisk holding Flowey in a flower pot, and behind them, Toriel.
”Hello there Undyne! How are you? It is very nice out today yes?”
”Oh hey there Ms. Toriel! I. Pretty good right now, just looking for Sans and Papyrus! It’s pretty warm today so I’m setting up a pool and I want Papyrus’s help.”
Toriel calmly responded ”Oh, well that’s great!” But the kid was jumping up and down in excitement, and Flowey was yelling, enraged by all the movement.
Undyne got back to her mission. “ I checked everywhere else so i think they’re in the living room! I’ll go get them now while..”Undyne only just realized Toriel had groceries in her hands. “While you unpack that.” She then ran to the living room, “ Hey guys wanna-“ then saw the two brothers on the ground by the air conditioner, the air conditioner was most definitely broken, and they looked like they were practically melting. “Guys?” She said. She walked over to the spot they were in and looked down at them. They were passed out!
”Guys?! Guys!!”
No answer. She nudged Papyrus.
It worked!
Papyrus sat up a little to see who woke him up. ”ny..nyehh?”
“Papyrus what happened what’s going on!?”
Papyrus just looked at her, took a breath and said “Too hot.” And laid back down next to his, also unconscious, brother.
Too hot? But.. it wasn’t like it was 100 degrees just-
Darn it Undyne
“UH MS. TORIEL? I NEED SOME HELP!”
Toriel took a second to walk into the room, confusion on her face until she saw the brothers.
”Undyne? What happened!”
”I don’t know, man! I found them like this! I was able to wake up Papyrus for a second and he just said it was ‘too hot’. HE WAS SPEAKING IN LOWERCASE MS. TORIEL!! SOMETHINGS REALLY WRONG!”
Toriel put a hand on Undynes shoulder to help calm her down.
“Undyne, it is going to be okay. Maybe they just don’t like heat?”

Toriel knew she sounded too calm, she was trying her hardest not to freak out. Her friend was just laying there unconscious, and his face showed that he was extremely uncomfortable, same for his taller brother.
Why was this? It was only.. 78 degrees out!
“Maybe they just don’t like heat?”
Don’t like heat? This wasn’t oh I just don’t like the heat, They were completely out cold! Or should she say out hot?
She noticed that Undyne was trying to wake them up again.
”Guys? Papyrus? Sans?” Wake up!” She said, no response from the two

Alr she was done using her inside voice.

“WAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UP!!”
Toriel was surprised at the sudden volume, but she saw that the brothers had responded to this.

Eh, what can Undyne say. She did what she had to do.
Sans woke up with a bit of a jolt, obviously spooked by the volume, but stayed laying down. Luckily his eyes were open and he was still awake.
Papyrus woke up a few seconds later and actually sat up this time instead of just looking up slightly. He looked down at his brother and sighed.
“hiii undies…” sans said with a slight smile, but it was only for show as she stopped smiling a second later.
She wasn’t mad at the nickname, hell she didn’t even realize it with the stress she felt about the situation.
Beside her, Toriel picked sans up a bit and sat him up like Papyrus was.
Good that would make this much easier
Sans looked at Papyrus, getting the hint his brother was a bit too dazed to talk
”whas goin’ on?”
Toriel began to speak before she could, “We found you passed out on the floor. Did something happen?”
sans looked at her like she was crazy. “waddaya mean ‘did somethin happen,‘ it’s super hot, so we’re sitting here tryna cool down.”
Toriel looked at him like HE was crazy. “Sans, it is only 78 degrees. Sure it’s a little warm but.. it shouldn’t be enough to knock you out right?”
Before he could talk again Frisk ran through the door, and looked extremely worried.
Undyne wondered when the little guy had gone out the door, but decided that that wasn’t what she needed to focus on right now.
Then Frisk started signing like crazy.
Now, Undyne wasn’t fluent in sign language but, with what she knew and the look on Frisk’s face, she pieced this together.
”Sans and Papyrus, Snowdin residents sensitive to heat! Could get really sick!”
Oh shoot that explains it.
“Oh boy we need to cool these guys down fast!” Undyne yelled
Toriel had also read the signing and quickly agreed with Undyne.
“How shall we cool them down?” Toriel said, worry escaping through her voice.
The pool! If undyne builds it quickly we could put them in!
“Ms. Toriel! Can you carry sans and bring him outside? I’ll take Papyrus. We can put them in the pool!”
Toriel’s eyes lit up, and she slowly picked up sans by the arms and carried him bridal style.
”wha-“ sans said, but he just gave up on the sentence halfway through the first word.
As Toriel walked to the back door with sans in her arms Undyne put her arm around Papyrus and lifted him up, walking him towards the door. He was seriously fatigued. This was getting really bad if it wasn’t already.

Alphys had explained to the human what was at stake and saw them quickly run into the house.
It had been a short while until Toriel had walked out with sans in her arms, the skeleton awake, but not exactly conscious.
Then behind them was Undyne, helping Papyrus walk out of the house.
She saw Undyne sit Papyrus down on the grass, and Toriel do the same with sans.
Undyne ran to the half finished pool and started building right away, asking Alphys what to do.
it was 5 minutes later that the pool was finished, and they put the hose in to fill it up. When it got to the point your feet were submerged they put the dazed brothers in.

Papyrus finally got out of whatever trance he was in and fully took hin his surroundings.
His brother was next to him, obviously still working on full consciousness.
He was in a pool with some nice, cool water that was up to his chest. THATS NICE... IT WAS REALLY HOT OUT TODAY!
Last thing he realized is he saw his friends looking at him from outside the pool, like he was dying. But he wasnt dying! Not anymore at least, he was so hot before he could've melted!
Oh What if Sans was melting too?
He was glad that Sans didnt melt! Or did he? By now he's pretty sure his brain melted by this train of thought.
He guesses he looked a bit more alive than before because Undyne looked shocked and happy, then jumped into the pool.
"Hey! Feelin' better punk?"
Papyrus felt it was a bit more difficult to speak than usual, but managed
"Y-YES, I SUPPOSE.. SO.."
Undyne looked worried again from the stutter, and looked down at Sans.
Sans was still VERY out of it. He was spacing out, resting his head on papyrus, and was barely breathing. Papyrus knew barely breathing was a bad thing, so he thought of a good way to snap Sans out of it.

Sans was spooked by the water hitting his face and looked at Papyrus with a look that said "what the heck?" but then looked back to space,and still looked like he was about to pass out.
Papyrus wondered if Undyne knew what was wrong with his brother.
"UNDYNE??... WHY DOES SANS LOOK SO... TIRED?"
Undyne looked back at Papyrus.
"Alphys says you both got suuuperr over heated. Like It got really bad."
Oh..oh..
"You guys are snowdin monsters.. The most you can handle without getting sick is... 70 degrees." Undyne continued. "I found you both in the living room on the floor by the A.C. ..... Why didnt you tell us?"
Papyrus actually wasn't sure why they hadn't asked for help, but then realized...
"BEACUSE THAT IS WHAT THE GREAT PAPYRUS AND HIS BROTHER ALWAYS DO!!!"

...Undyne didn't like that response.
"whaaat do you mean by that?" Undyne said, hoping her bestest-most amazingest-friend did not just say he and his brother always suffer when help is literally right there.
"L-LIKE WHEN WE WERE LITTLE!! WE WOULD ALWAYS COMFORT EACHOTHER! ALL WE REALLY NEED IS EACH OTHER! YOU...YOU KNOW?"
Aha..
"Mhm.. yeah sure bud. You were literally dying on your own. You know you live with like.... A buch of other people right?? People that want to help you??"
Papyrus looked shocked.. but then that shock turned uncertain, then it was sad.
"WELL.. WE JUST... WE DIDN'T EXACTLY THINK ABOUT IT AT ALL....ABOUT THE OTHER PEOPLE.... like... you.."
Papyrus got worringly quiet at the end of his sentence. Undyne wasn't all that great at comfort but it was pretty neccesary at that point.
"You know... We all really love you two punks. Even if Sans makes insufferable puns all the time. Nothing's going to keep us from Lovin' ya dorks.. Okay?"
Darn, she hoped that was good enough..
"I GUESS SO...." Papyrus smiled. Then he looked back down at sans. "UH FOR REAL UNDYNE.. IS HE OKAY? LIKE.. HE IS SERIOUSLY JUST STARING INTO THE ABYSS."
Sans seriously looked dead. Like what humans look like when they die.. But he wasnt dead because The pool water wouldn't be as clear at it was.
"SAAANS? BROTHER ARE YOU OKAY???????"
There was no answer untill a very breathy.. "mhm.."
That was kinda bad.. is he even aware of the situation? Yeah, they got Papyrus up and running but sans still looked just like he did under the air conditioner. Staring into nothing with the blankest eyes Undyne had ever seen.
"Hey Alph?" Alphys looked away from whatever her conversation was with Toriel, "Is Sans like.. Actually okay?" Undyne watched as Alphys slowly climbed into the pool to look closer at the short skeleton.
"I-I-I think he i-is.. How..However.. Due to his.. l-low HP.. He might have taken this.. a-a little worse t-than Papyrus..Like he's going to b-be like this for a while.." She smiled a bit afterwards in hopes it might be reassuring, then just walked to the other side of the pool and sat there.
Okay.. we dont know how long 'a while' is but its fine..
"UNDYNE?" Papyrus's voice pulled her out of her thoughts, and she looked at him. "HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO SIT IN THIS WATER??"
Undyne laughed a bit. "'Kay it really depends ya' know? How do you feel right now?"
Papyrus took a while to respond to that, you can see just by looking at him that he was actually thinking hard about how he felt at the moment.
"QUITE SLEEPY TO BE HONEST WITH YOU..."
"Then stay there. How does the water feel?"
"IT FEELS NICE! COULD BE COLDER BUT... IT'S DEFINETLY BETTER THAN UNDER THE AIR CONDITIONER!"
"Great, then you won't feel bad staying here until Al' says you're okay."
"W-WAIT.. HOW LONG WILL THAT BE." Undyne had to stop herself from laughing. He looked like a distressed animal crossing character!
"Well that would beee.... hmm.. 'dunno." She winked after that. God she sounded like Sans. That nerd should wake up (or well wake up mentally? His eyes were open) because his absence was starting to take a toll on them. Especially Toriel.

I THINK HE'S DEAD
(Toriel then starts to make a pun every second that your author can't provide due to lack of brain cells)

Yeah you could hear her stress puns from china
It was an hour or so of sans just laying there dead inside until he blinked rapidly and looked around.
"whaaaaat-"
Toriel sighed with releif.
Undyne gave Papyrus the glory of explaining what had happened and went over to her girlfriend.
"So.. Are they actually going to be okay?"
Alphys winced "They're not going to have as much energy as usual, f-for like a while, and their bones are going t-to be a bit weak so.. Maybe think a bit first before r-randomly.. punching.. Papyrus."
Oh yeah she probably shouldn't do that.
"You got it babe! Love ya!"
"Love you t-too Undyne.."
"SANS STOP SPLASHING ME!!"
"Reeevengeee"
