“I get it. People are busy. But just once, I wish someone would go out of their way for me.” He sniffled, not looking at his friend Dave next to him. This puzzled Dave, he tried his best to do things for Karkat and had been trying to hint at his romantic feelings for him. Unfortunately, Dave isn't good with words, so he's mostly just gotten Karkat gifts, the other oblivious to his very not obvious attempts at confessing. This would probably end in another failed attempt, first he had to come up with a way to comfort Karkat.. For now, he just gently moved a hand to rub Karkats back.
"Who am I kidding though, I'm the helping friend. I shouldn't need anyone to help me if I'm so good at helping others I can help myself right?" Karkat muttered, starting to cry more and trying to wipe away on coming tears. Dave stayed quiet still and moved his hand off Karkat to grab his phone and looking through it. Karkat looked hurt by that when he noticed and stood up to leave.
"I shouldn't have expected you to understand." He grumbled but Dave stood up and grabbed his arm.
"Hold on a second," He showed Karkat his phone screen which had a page up showing a receipt for two tickets to an amusement park, "I was just getting us tickets to an amusement park. We can go in a few hours when you calm down."
"What. Now? As in today?" Karkat asked, taken aback by this and just looking confused as an amusement park felt totally out of nowhere.
"Well, yeah, I mean it'd take your mind off things and it'd be fun right?" Dave chuckled a bit, starting to worry that he fucked up when Karkat laughed and wiped his eyes again.
"You didn't do shit but that felt so out of nowhere I'm too fucking confused to be sad you weirdo." He sniffled, and looked at Dave. "We can go now, yeah. You didn't have anything to do today right?"
"It can wait, it's not as important as helping you feel better is." Dave smiled and Karkat nodded.
"Now it makes sense, gog why are you such a fucking weirdo." Karkat laughed, shaking his head as Dave shrugged and wrapped an arm around Karkat.
"I dunno, but you like me being a weirdo because you're laughing." Dave smiled and Karkat sighed and nodded, not pushing Dave away.
"In my defense you caught me off guard with that." Karkat crossed his arms, trying not to smile now and furrowing his eyebrows to try to look angry.
"Yeah well I'm just going out of my way for you."
