Infernal Invasion Prologue part 1
The Gates of Hell Open.
4 years before the events of Arc V
Deep within Avernus,Layer one of Baator.
There were a lot of things people knew about Leviathan, the Queen of Hell for being. Ruthless, pragmatic, spiteful. But none expected her to be, sad.
Though this side was in private ONLY. She had ordered everyone out of her private abode deep in the trenches of Hell. Deep within her layer of Avernus.
["It is both a blessing and a curse to be the last of the Eight. I pray I can bring even one of you back home one day…"] the Queen thought to herself, staring at a portrait, she and her Fallen kin on their thrones. The Dark Eight The portrait was called. Having been commissioned by the best artists Hell could afford, and with the vast wealth Leviathan alone wielded, she could afford the very best. The portrait itself was huge, taking up ten feet by ten feet. Allowing the Eight to be seen in all their glory
(Technically it was eight paintings merged into one with magic but who remembers that but her?)
Sitting at the far left was Leviathan herself: wearing a layered sea green dress with black urchin spines on each end. Her face was angular and sharp, serpentine eyes , slit like nose and thin, flat lips. Her scaly green skin was broken up only by the fins on her forearms and webbed hands and feet. Tendrils down her head like hair, shark like teeth in a cruel smile. Her beloved trident Tempest in her left hand. Leviathan carved it herself from stone from the deepest trenches of the Plane of Water,a true work of art. Tall black stone, each tip with a pearl in its shaft. Wave designs curling up from the bottom, creating grooves for better grip. All in all,she was as beautiful and terrible as a storm at sea, quite fitting for the Great Beast of the Sea~.
Next to her was the man Leviathan considered her greatest rival; Mammon. The Lord of the Second. His nonchalant pose, chin on his fist, cocky grin on his draconic face. Showing off platinum teeth as well. His glittering gold scales mix handsomely with the regal purple and white of his toga. Mammon's black horns filled with golden cracks, eyes a deep blue like they were carved from sapphires. With the scales hanging from his free hand, Mammon resembled a draconic God of wealth and power.
Next to him was Asmodeus, lounging on his throne. The satyr like Archdevil was wearing very little but a purple leopard skin loincloth. Though with the angle he was laying at, thankfully nothing was exposed. His light pink skin contrasted the dark purple of his goat legs and horns. Curly light pink hair framing his angular face. A sly smile finishing the look. The Lord of Lust was on the lower end of the scale of Archdevils Leviathan liked, but he was far higher than the next Archdevil.
Behemoth, the Lord of Sloth and Great Beast of the Land. None of the Archdevils liked Behemoth for many reasons; his Apathetic nature, near constant slothful whining and what he said to people he shouldn't have, that sent Leviathan and her allies to hell. The turtle like Archdevil was hiding in his shell thank goodness.
Far and away the second most popular amongst Devils, second to Mammon, was Belial. The Lord of the Fifth resembled an enormous minotaur with jet black fur and horns sharp as daggers. With his golden helm, breastplate and blood red cape,Belial looked like the fierce general he was. Laying in his lap was his Warhammer, Kuul-Vog. The hammer was large and black with orange and red lines line veins of magma all across the maul. It looked ready to be wielded and used to strike down his enemies. It brought a smile to Leviathan's face looking at Belial,he was one of her fellows that she always respected for his strength and ability to get things done.
Her respect was far more begrudging for Baelzebub, lord of the Sixth. Sure he was a genius, not that he'd let anyone forget it, and a master of magic. But the main thing Leviathan hated about him was his hygiene,or rather lack of it. The artist had done his best to downplay it but Baelzebub was absolutely filthy. His arcane robes are stained with all sorts of unmentionable things, his black hair thick and greasy. Thankfully his mouth was closed because his teeth were an orthodontic nightmare more resembling pieces of jagged yellow glass. Though his proboscis-like nose and red compound eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets. Baelzebub was also holding his staff Zebul and his Spellbook in each hand,as if ready to cast a spell.
Leviathan's smile returned though when she saw her closest friend amongst the Eight,Lilith. Her body was completely concealed in the outfit she wore in the portrait though. Black robe with a deer skull helm covering her face. Only her hands, with long black nails, were exposed. The true Lady of the Seventh was hidden underneath however. The skull and robe being Her equivalent of Formal wear. Her skin was smooth and light as cream, her hair long and wavy. Her face was so completely flawless it was like she was a statue brought to life, which is somewhat accurate to her creation.
Last but not least was the Great Beast of the Sky,Ziz. The owl like Archdevil was technically floating above his throne, black talons cross legged underneath his gray robes. While his body's feathers were black, his face was stark white. Eyes closed as he used but a fraction of his psionic might to float.
Out of the Eight, only 5 were still living but only one was still in power.
Mammon, Asmodeus and Ziz had perished,Lilith and Belial had been captured and imprisoned in Tartarus and Baelzebub had vanished into the Ethereal Plane. Leaving Leviathan alone, sure she had people to take up the mantle of Archdevil, but they couldn't truly live up to it. To fill the void in her black heart.
Leviathans gazing into the past was interrupted by a knock at the door however. Snapping her out of it and making her snap at the door "I said not to disturb me!".
"My Queen, the Gates have been completed. Do you wish to try them out~?" Said a gravelly voice on the other side of the door. Causing Leviathan to grin.
+++++++++++++++++++++
*3 and a half years before the Events of Arc V*
The Dimensional Gates,a marvel of magic. They didn't look like much, just two tall black gates covered in runes and arcane symbols. But what they lacked in appearance, they more than made up for in use. Allowing Baator access to new worlds, fresh for the conquering~.
Currently Leviathan was enjoying lunch at a restaurant in the new dimension she and several of her associates had discovered. Arranging a deal with a powerful figure over sushi.Despite not needing food,it was more for appearances than anything else for both of them.
"I've been doing my research on this world, but do tell me what you have to offer?" Leviathan had used magic to assume the guise of an ordinary human businesswoman, blue hair with matching suit notwithstanding. "If you're prepared to scratch my back,I'm prepared to scratch yours~." She said to the other woman. Before popping a sushi roll into her mouth. She knew to keep her language ambiguous, keep people from figuring out her plans too early.
"How much are you willing to do for us is the main question. Our foes are disconnected at the moment, but should they unite we'll need all the help we can get finally defeating them." The other woman was supposedly a model, her soft face and flowing black hair being her most striking features. Her formal green dress accentuated her curved body.
Leviathan just smiled slightly and nodded. "Trust me, with my people's support,I doubt even a single one will succeed in their endeavors. I'm a lot less fettered than you. When I want something, I don't let anyone or anything stand in my way." She growled near the end, pulling out a document from the purse at her feet.
"Now just read through this and sign on the dotted line and we can begin~. I promise you,no one will be able to stand in our way for long~." Leviathan cooed, pulling out a pen for her associate to use.
In beautiful penmanship, marked with a lizard head at the end, at the bottom of the contract, were the words
"Misty Treadwell."
End of part 1.
