Work Text:
George is already asleep by the time Dream makes it to bed that night. His head is on Dream's pillow and the rest of him is taking up about two-thirds of the mattress – as per usual.
Dream smiles softly at the sight, closing the door behind himself as quietly as he can.
He pulls his shirt off on his way over to the bed, leaving his gray sweatpants on, exhaustion pulling heavy on his limbs.
It's been a long day and while he's really happy he managed to finish his video – all he wants to do right now is crawl under silky covers and cuddle up to George.
So he does exactly that.
With careful, loving hands, Dream moves George just enough to make space for himself, before laying down right behind him.
He presses his lips to George’s neck and then his shoulder where Dream's shirt has slipped off slightly.
"Dr'm," George mumbles, his voice soft with sleep.
He moves closer to Dream, rolling over to face him and then curling up to his chest.
Dream adjusts his arms to hold George better and snakes a hand under his boyfriend's shirt, feeling warm skin against his palm.
He noses at soft, dark curls, whispering a "love you,” into them and placing a kiss to the top of George’s head.
Sleep catches up to him quickly after that.
⎯⎯⎯
When they wake up, a square of sunlight shines on the white sheets covering their entangled legs.
Dream takes a deep breath as he wakes up, his movement stirring his boyfriend, too.
George has his face tucked into Dream's neck and one of his hands tangled in Dream's hair.
It's sort of amazing, really, how close they manage to slot together while asleep. Every morning is the same puzzle of trying to figure out where one of them ends and the other begins.
Dream drags his hands down George’s sides. "Morning baby," he mumbles, a low rumble in his voice.
George just shakes his head, because of course he does. Every morning is the same in this way – George needs at least ten minutes to wake up fully before he'll even consider getting up. Dream finds it painfully endearing.
Dream chuckles and pats around for his phone, holding it up above his face when he finds it.
"George," he taps the screen, "it’s almost one pm."
"Don't care."
Another laugh leaves Dream’s chest and he gives George’s waist a gentle squeeze.
“Come on, we’ve slept for so long already. Like, ten hours or something dumb.”
George is definitely frowning. "’s not dumb. You’re dumb."
Dream dips down and kisses his shoulder, taking the soft skin between his lips to make George laugh.
George laughs and Dream grins at the reminder that he knows George like the back of his hand.
"I can make us some food if you want," he suggests softly, "something good."
It's the oldest trick in the book.
George moves so his face is no longer tucked away, blinking up at him a few times to get used to the light. Dream wants to kiss him for hours non-stop.
"Okay," George says, his still sleepy voice void of any sort of edge.
Dream smiles at him, "Yeah?"
George nods his head and interrupts it with a yawn. "'m actually really hungry."
And that settles that. Dream pushes George off him gently, rolling his eyes at the whine he gets for doing so.
He stands up on the sunlit floor and stretches, basking in the warmth for a moment before heading to their dresser.
A sweatshirt and some shorts for George, and a simple white t-shirt for himself. That will do for now.
George is sitting up in bed, watching him when he walks back over, his eyes anywhere but on Dream's.
Dream tosses him the clothes with a playful scoff. "Stop staring, idiot."
George grins. "You should leave it off," he says, to which Dream only smiles and shakes his head, pulling on the t-shirt.
Refusing to move from the bed until absolutely necessary, George stays on it as he gets dressed, doing so with a sleepy frown.
Dream waits for him by the side of the bed, giggling at the sulky look on his boyfriend's face.
Albeit reluctantly, George stands in front of him when he's ready, letting Dream pull him closer by his waist.
"There you go, you're perfect." Dream kisses him on the forehead. When he pulls away, George immediately tips his face up more. Dream smiles at him before leaning down and pressing their lips together briefly.
"What do you wanna eat?" He asks, barely getting to finish before George is kissing him again.
Dream can't stop himself from smiling into it. "George."
George giggles, "Pancakes, please."
"Okay, great."
George shrugs. "Great," he parrots, and it's so stupid that Dream can't not laugh.
"You're an idiot," he says and kisses him again, and then he takes hold of George’s hand and pulls him out of the room to begin their day together.
