Hello everyone! Here is my newest Fruits Basket fanfic. This is the latest one I thought of. It's about Tohru and Akito switching places, living each other's lives, and even learning about each other. Will this go well, or will it end badly? You'll have to read and find out. This story will be told through P.O.V.s and usual storytelling. I hope you enjoy it.

SOMA PROPERTY

It was a stormy day. The rain came down and the wind was blowing, causing some branches to break off the trees. When storms like these happen, it's a good idea to be indoors. Someone was out and about, running past the trees and up towards a hill. It was Akito. She was upset. Tohru was right behind her. Akito made her way up the hill and stopped near a tree. She was trying to catch her breath. Tohru finally caught up to her.

"Akito!" she called out

"GO AWAY!" Akito snapped

"Akito please, I want to help you."

"Just leave me alone!"

"I know what it's like to be lonely and alone."

"How could you possibly know? JUST SHUT UP AND GO AWAY!"

Tohru approached Akito and touched her shoulder. She immediately spun around and smacked Tohru's hand away. Now they were face to face. Akito began to cry again as Tohru started tearing up.

"Please don't cry Akito. You don't have to be alone anymore," said Tohru

"I'm not alone! I have plenty of people in the Soma House who care about me!" snapped Akito

"That's true, but they make you feel lonely, don't they?"

"…."

"I know what it's like. When my father died, my mother wasn't…."

"SHUT UP! You don't know what it's like at all! I don't care for your sad life story. The only way you'd truly understand is if you lived my life!"

"I suppose you're right. I won't understand your loneliness unless I live your life, just like you won't understand mine unless you live my life."

"You don't know what it's like living in the Soma House!"

"And you don't know what it's like living as an orphan trying to fend for herself."

Akito and Tohru stood silent for a few moments not saying anything to each other. That's when Tohru stuck her hand out towards Akito.

"Akito, I don't want us to fight. I want us to be friends," said Tohru

"You're lying!" said Akito

"Please let's start over."

Tohru continued to hold her hand out. Akito slowly reached out to touch her hand when suddenly a bolt of lightning came down and struck them both. They both fell to the ground unconscious. The tree that stood near them fell over to the ground. The rain continued to pour getting them both soaked.

TOHRU'S P.O.V. (IN AKITO'S BODY)

I don't know how long I was out for, but I was hearing multiple voices. I opened my eyes and blinked a few times. When my vision was clearer, I saw a few unfamiliar faces staring at me. It took me by surprise.

"Oh, thank goodness you're awake," one of them said

"We were all so worried about you," said another

I looked around and slowly sat up holding my head. I winced a little bit. Where was I and who are these people? I looked around again and noticed I was in an unfamiliar room with maids. They seemed concerned.

"Akito you shouldn't get up yet. You need to rest," a maid said

"What?" I questioned

"You were struck by lightning. We're just so glad you're okay," said another maid

"Who are you?" I asked

All the maids froze, just staring at me and then they started to panic.

"OH MY GOD AKITO HAS AMNESIA!" one of the maids screamed

"Someone please go and get Hatori now!" yelled another maid

"He's not here. He's at Shigure's house," another maid said

I didn't know what the heck was going on or why I was surrounded by such nerve wrecked people. That's when I noticed I was wearing different clothes. I started touching my face and my hair. It felt different. Something was wrong. I started to get up and this made the maids nervous. As I stood, one of them touched my shoulder.

"Akito, please lay down until Hatori comes back," she said

"A mirror…someone please bring me a mirror!" I asked

A maid left the room and came back with a full sized mirror. Once I saw my reflection, my eyes widened. I was completely shocked. I wasn't looking at myself, I was looking at Akito. I was in Akito's body, but how?! I looked at my hands and then back at the mirror. I did this for a few moments. This can't be happening to me!

"AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!" I screamed before passing out from shock

Before I fell into unconsciousness again, I heard the maids gathering around me and calling me Akito. How could this possibly happen? This has to be a bad dream. It just has to be.

AKITO'S P.O.V. (IN TOHRU'S BODY)

I've been asleep for quite a long time. I felt pretty well rested. I opened my eyes, and my vision was blurry. I blinked a few times, and my vision became clear. I looked around and noticed I was in a bedroom, but it wasn't my room.

"Oh good, you're awake," said a voice

I looked over to see Hatori next to me. He was sitting in a chair. How long was he there for?

"Hatori?" I questioned

"I'm glad you're okay. You should stay in bed for a while," he said

"What happened?"

"You were struck by lightning. Thankfully you and Akito weren't seriously hurt. Getting struck by lightning can cause severe injuries."

Wait a minute, he said Akito. I'm Akito! What is going on? I started to touch my arms and then I touched my hair. I noticed that it was long. I looked at it and noticed it was a brown hazel color. I gasped in surprise. I touched my face and it felt different.

"Tohru, are you okay?" asked Hatori

"I don't know," I replied

Suddenly Yuki and Kyo walked in. Oh great, what did they want?

"Miss Honda, are you okay?" asked Yuki

"We were so worried about you," said Kyo

"You can't come in here! I didn't summon you! GET OUT!" I yelled

Yuki, Kyo, and Hatori stared at me with weird looks. I just realized something. Hatori called me Tohru, Yuki called me Miss Honda, Kyo was worried about me, and I felt different. I was Tohru. I mean, I was in Tohru's body. Things started to make sense now. However, they don't realize that I'm really Akito. I quickly shook my head and gave a forced smile.

"I'm….I'm sorry. I just….I'm out of it," I said

"Boy that lightning strike must have really rattled her brain," said Kyo

"I heard that," I muttered under my breath

Before I could say anything else, Shigure burst through the door with a worried look on his face.

"Hatori, you need to get back to the Soma House. Akito has amnesia!" he said

"What?!" Hatori and I questioned

Shigure then noticed that I was awake and he smiled.

"Good to see you're awake Tohru. I hope you're feeling better," he said

All I did was nod. Hatori gave me instructions to stay in bed for a while. I watched him pack up his medical gear and head out of the room with Shigure. I could hear footsteps going down the stairs. I suddenly gasped and realized that I needed to go with Hatori. I pushed the covers off and started getting out of bed. As I stood up, Kyo and Yuki approached me.

"Miss Honda you shouldn't get up. You need to stay in bed," said Yuki

"Yeah get back in bed," said Kyo

When they tried to escort me back to the bed, I pushed them away which took them by surprise.

"SHUT UP AND DON'T TOUCH ME!" I yelled

The rat and the cat had surprised looks on their faces. They looked at each other with mouths hanging open and then they watched me walk out the bedroom door.

"You two better get this room looking decent by the time I get back or else!" I snapped by the doorway.

Kyo and Yuki just continued to stare in shock.

"What has got into her?" asked Yuki

"Now I'm certain that lightning strike fried her brain," said Kyo

As I made my way down the stairs, I saw Hatori about to leave the house. I quickly darted towards him. I ended up collapsing but managed to grab his shirt. This surprised him and Shigure.

"Tohru you shouldn't be up," said Shigure

"I thought I told you to stay in bed," said Hatori

"Take me to the Soma House!" I said

The dragon and the dog just stared at me for a few moments. I got up slowly and dusted myself off.

"Take me to the Soma House!" I said again

"Why?" asked Shigure

"You dare question me? When I give an order I expect it to be obeyed you stupid dog!"

Hatori and Shigure stared at me while Kyo and Yuki stared at me from the stairs. I quickly covered my mouth. I had forgotten that I was in Tohru's body and they still didn't know that I was Akito. I quickly shook my head and had to think of something fast.

"I'm really sorry for snapping….I just…..I need to know that Toh….I mean Akito is okay. We were both in the same accident," I said

"That's true, but I think its best that I check on Akito alone," said Hatori

"Hatori please this is important!"

"Why do you want to go so bad? You never acted like this before."

"Tohru you know how stubborn Akito can be. She probably doesn't want to see anybody," said Shigure

"Oh trust me, she'll want to see me today," I said

After a few moments of silence, Hatori sighed and then agreed to let me go with him. I was relieved. We went out the door and I climbed into his car. We were on our way back to the Soma House.

"Tohru I am surprised that you want to go see Akito," said Hatori

"Why is that a shock to you?" I asked

"Usually no one is allowed to see Akito unless she requests for them."

"I know that, but it's important I see Akito today."

"You are acting rather strange, but it is unusual that Akito got amnesia and you didn't."

I knew damn well that it wasn't amnesia. It was Tohru not having a damn clue where she was or who was with her. My concern was how much chaos she is causing at the Soma House. Hatori and I were quiet the rest of the way to our destination. When we made it, everyone was shocked to see me with Hatori.

"What is that girl doing here?" one of them asked

"Her name is Tohru and she's very concerned about Akito," said Hatori

"Well Tohru can't see Akito. She's not well."

"Well I have every right to be here and I need to see Akito immediately!" I said

"I said you can't!" said the woman

"GET OUT OF THE WAY YOU OLD BAT!"

"How dare you!"

"You talk to me like that again and I'll fire your sorry ass!"

Once again, I forgot that I was in Tohru's body, but that didn't matter at the moment. Before anyone could do anything. I quickly went to where I knew my body would be. Hatori and the others were surprised that I just took off and knew where to go. When I reached my destination, I knocked. I'm not sure why I did that. It was my room after all.

AKITO'S ROOM

Akito entered the room and saw her body lying on the futon. When Tohru saw herself approaching, she got up immediately. Akito and Tohru just stared at each other. It's like they were looking in a mirror. They just couldn't believe it. Tohru was about to scream again when Akito covered her mouth.

"You idiot, do you want others coming in here?" snapped Akito

Tohru shook her head no and Akito removed her hand from her mouth. They were both silent, not sure what to say. They were both freaked out.

"This doesn't make any sense. How did this happen?" asked Tohru

"I'm in your body and you're in mine," said Akito

"Well, that's obvious."

"Shut up! I'm trying to think here."

It was quiet again. Akito paced back and forth trying to think of how they ended up switching bodies. She let out a sigh.

"I don't know what to think," said Akito

"Me either," said Tohru

"We have to switch back, but how?"

"That's what I would like to know."

Suddenly, the door opened. Hatori and a few maids stepped in. They tried to take Tohru out of the room, and she started making a fuss.

"Let go of me! Don't touch me!" yelled Akito

"Release her! She's fine," said Tohru

The maids obeyed and Akito sat on the floor not far from Tohru. Hatori approached Akito and checked her over.

"You seem okay. Do you know who I am?" asked Hatori

"Of course, I do. You're Hatori," said Tohru

"Well you don't have amnesia, but your behavior seems rather odd."

"What do you mean?"

"You just seem different and so does Tohru."

Akito and Tohru looked at each other and then looked back at Hatori. He let out a sigh as the maids left the room.

"Well, if you're done Hatori, do you mind if I speak to Aki…I mean Tohru alone?" asked Tohru

"If that's what you want. Tohru I'll be right outside the door," said Hatori to Akito

He went to the door and walked out of the room. Tohru and Akito waited for a few moments before facing each other again.

"Tohru, we got a problem," said Akito

"Big problem," she replied

End of Chapter 1. I hate to end it here, but it would be better to have the next part told in Chapter 2. Now that Tohru and Akito figured out they switched places, will they figure out how to switch back? Continue to read on and find out. I'll have Chapter 2 posted as soon as I can.

AKITO'S ROOM

"This is bad. This is really bad!" said Akito

"I know it is. I have to start going back to school soon and I have an important final coming up next week," said Tohru

"Well, I have a special banquet to hold that involves all the zodiac members next week and I have a date with Shigure in a couple of days!"

"Wait, you two are dating?"

"Why are you butting into my business stupid girl?"

"I'm not! You just told me."

Akito approached Tohru, about to hit her when she suddenly stopped. She walked over to the wall and punched it instead. Tohru gulped as Akito growled in frustration.

"You were about to hit me, weren't you?" Tohru asked

"I would have if you weren't in my body," Akito replied

"So, what are we supposed to do now?"

"Well, if we can't switch back at the moment, I guess we have to pretend to be each other."

"How is that supposed to work? I don't know what goes on in this estate!"

"Well, I don't know what goes on at that school of yours."

Akito and Tohru were silent for a few moments. Akito then let out a sigh.

"Look, we don't seem to have a choice. We're going to have to try and make this work. I'll tell you everything you need to know, who to speak to, and how to run this place," said Akito

"Then I'll tell you everything about school, who my friends are, and where I work," said Tohru

For the next half hour, Akito and Tohru exchanged information about each other and their daily habits. They both had a feeling that this plan may not be successful, but they had to try. A few minutes later, Hatori entered the room.

"Tohru, it's time to go. You need your rest and so does Akito," said Hatori

Akito got up and followed Hatori out the door. Tohru watched them both leave.

"This is going to be hell," Akito thought to herself

"This is going to end badly," Tohru thought to herself

AKITO'S POV (IN TOHRU'S BODY)

The next day I woke up in Tohru's room. I walked to the dresser and started going through Tohru's wardrobe. I was disgusted by pretty much everything she owned. I hated all her outfits and I wish I could burn them. I then noticed a picture sitting on top of her dresser.

"This must be her mother. I admit that she's pretty," Akito thought to herself

Suddenly the door opened, and it surprised me. I turned around to see Yuki walking in with a stupid smile on his face. I really wanted to smack it off.

"Good morning, Miss Honda," said Yuki

"Don't you ever knock?! I was trying to get dressed you dirty rat!" I snapped

Yuki gave me a surprised look and I quickly shook my head. I had to control my outbursts. If this plan was going to work, I have to pretend to be Tohru. Hopefully it won't be long either.

"I mean, good morning, Yuki. I was just about to get dressed when you came in," I said

"Oh, I'm sorry. I guess I forgot to knock. Just let me know when you're ready," he said

Yuki left the room and closed the door. I growled in frustration. Was he always like this around Tohru? Well, I'd have to worry about that later. I spent the next few minutes getting dressed. I hated the outfit, but I didn't have a choice. I left the room and went to find Yuki. He was downstairs sitting at the table talking to Shigure. When I saw Shigure, I stopped and stared at him for a bit. My heart began to race.

"Good morning, Tohru. Are you feeling better today?" asked Shigure

"Yes, I am," I replied

"That's good to hear."

"Miss Honda, are you ready?" asked Yuki

"Ready? Ready for what?" I questioned

"We were going to pick strawberries from the garden today."

"Oh right! I almost forgot."

"Well before you two do that, you should eat some breakfast," said Shigure

"When you refer to any of us, you mean you!" said Yuki

"Hey, I always look forward to Tohru's meals."

The dog and the rat then looked at me which made me jump a bit. Why are they looking at me like that? Are they expecting me to cook for them?

"Miss Honda, do you want any help with breakfast?" asked Yuki

"Huh? No, it's okay. I got it," I said

I walked past them and into the kitchen. I let out a sigh and did a face palm. Tohru did mention that she cooked and cleaned while staying in Shigure's household. The problem is that I don't know a damn thing about cooking, and I don't know a lot about cleaning. If this plan is going to work, I have to try. About thirty minutes have passed and breakfast was turning into a disaster. I burnt the eggs, burnt the toast, and this hot cereal I was trying to make was very gooey. Suddenly, the cat walked in.

"Uh, Tohru…what are you doing?" asked Kyo

"I'm making breakfast. What does it look like I'm doing?" I replied

"You usually don't burn the eggs."

"Well excuse me. I did my best!"

"What is this you're making?"

"It's hot cereal, but for whatever reason it's still gooey. I followed the recipe in this cookbook exactly."

"Tohru, that's not a cookbook. You were reading a guide on how to make glue."

"Well, that explains why it's gooey and it's starting to smell like burnt plastic."

"Tohru are you okay? You've never done this before."

"Why does everyone keep asking me if I'm fine? I keep telling you I'm fine! I'M FUCKING FINE! SO I SCREWED UP BREAKFAST AND YOU'RE MAKING A BIG DEAL OUT OF IT! STOP QUESTIONING ME YOU STUPID CAT!"

"What is going on in here?" Yuki asked walking in

He froze when he saw the mess and Kyo just standing there with his mouth hanging open. I covered my face for a few moments. I lost my temper again, forgetting to pretend to be Tohru. I shook my head and did my best giving them forced smile.

"I'm sorry…I just feel a little off today…I can't seem to remember my cooking habits," I said

"You forgot how to cook?" asked Kyo

"Eh…no I mean…I need some fresh air. I'll be back later," I said

I hurried out of the kitchen and towards the front door. Shigure just stared at me and then looked towards the kitchen as I left. Kyo sighed as he started cleaning up the mess I made.

"I guess I'll do the cooking for a while," he said

"I'll go talk to her," said Yuki

I was starting to walk off Shigure's property when the rat caught up to me and touched my shoulder. I turned around and faced him.

"What do you want?" I asked

"Miss Honda, if you weren't feeling up to cooking you could have said so. We would have understood," said Yuki

"Well, it's my job and….I had to try."

"If you're still not feeling well, just take it easy a little while longer. You don't even have to go to school tomorrow if you don't want to. Take a few more days off."

"No, it's important that I go to school!"

"Are you sure you're up to it?"

"Yes, I'll be okay."

We became silent for a few moments. Pretending to be Tohru was a lot harder than I thought and going to her school tomorrow has me worried. I just hope that things go well there.

"Miss Honda, would you like to pick some strawberries now?" asked Yuki

"Sure," I said

The rat and I headed to his secret base to pick strawberries. I have to admit that the walk was a nice change of pace instead of being stuck at the Soma Estate. The next day I was heading to school with Yuki and Kyo. Once I approached the school grounds, I took a deep cleansing breath.

"Keep it together Akito. Let's get this day over with," I thought

Before school started, I ended up meeting with Tohru's friends. They were happy to see me, and each gave me a hug.

"Feeling better?" asked Uo

"Absolutely," I replied

"Tohru's recovery was pretty quick," said Kyo

"Hmm…this is interesting," said Saki

"What is?" I asked

"Tohru, your waves just seem…different, almost like they're not even yours."

Everyone become silent as I was shocked. Has this girl figured out that I wasn't Tohru? Suddenly Uo patted me on the back.

"Well, let's get going. We don't want to be late for our first class," she said

I sighed as we all made our way into the school. For the first half of the school day, everything was going pretty well. I thought I was going to get through the school day fine until I ended up running into a group of the most annoying girls I ever met in my life. I just can't believe people like this exist!

"Hey Honda, what's the deal with you hanging out with Prince Yuki?" asked Motoko

"Now be nice Motoko. Honda was struck by lightning, remember?" reminded Rika

"I guess getting injured gives you the privilege to hang out with our prince," said Minami

"Who the fuck are you?" I asked annoyed

The girls went silent for a moment and then they all started busted up laughing.

"What's so funny?" I asked

"Wow Honda, that lightning strike must have rattled your memories," said Motoko

"I can't believe you don't even remember us," said Minami

"Just to refresh your memory, we're members of the Prince Yuki Fan Club and we're the only ones who get to talk to Prince Yuki," said Rika

"Excuse me?" I questioned

"What are you deaf? Honda, you better stay away from our prince," said Mai

We were all silent for a moment. I just couldn't believe what I was hearing. Yuki had a fan club filled with the most obnoxious girls in the world. I knew Yuki was popular at school, but this is ridiculous. I also hated the idea that Yuki was being worshipped by these stupid girls. None of the members of the zodiac should be getting this kind of treatment, only me! I started to get angry, but I took a deep breath and exhaled.

"Listen, I would love to stay and chat, but I got better things to do than to listen to you brag about a fan club that won't last long," I said

"Beg pardon?" asked Rika

"What gives you the right to control Yuki's life, saying he can only talk to you bitches and nobody else? He's not a trophy and I suggest you leave him alone," I said

"What did you say?" snarled Motoko

"The way you worship Yuki is disgusting and what disgusts me more is that none of you know a damn thing about him," I said

"Oh, and you do?" Minami questioned

"A lot more than any of you," I said

As we argued, a group of students gathered and watched us. I didn't even notice. I was too focused on these girls, and I could feel rage building up inside me.

"You got a big mouth Honda. You better walk away now while you have a chance," threatened Motoko

"Or what, you're going to prevent me from talking to Prince Yuki ever again?" I mocked

"Don't speak of the prince's name!" snapped Mai

"You're all stupid and I'm going to put an end to this fan club worship," I said

"YOU BITCH!" yelled Motoko

She suddenly slapped me across the face. It caught me off guard for a moment. I then grabbed Motoko by the hair and dragged her to a window. I got a good grip of the back of her head and started slamming her face into the window. The other fan girls stood there shocked as the crowd of students that were watching started to uproar. I continued to slam Motoko's face into the window. It wasn't long till the window started cracking and then it shattered. After the window broke, I let go of Motoko and she fell to the floor holding her face. She was bleeding.

"Motoko, are you okay?" asked Rika kneeling down

"I think I got glass in my eye," said Motoko

"Oh, what a shame. Too bad it didn't get inside your mouth," I snapped

The crowd of students that were watching started wooing. Kyo, Yuki, and others soon emerged from the crowd. They seemed surprised that I had hurt Motoko. Suddenly, a few teachers and the principal appeared.

"MISS HONDA! MY OFFICE, NOW!" he snapped

As the teachers tended to Motoko, I followed the principal out of the crowd and down the hall. Kyo and Yuki still looked shocked. Only Uo and Saki followed me to the principal's office, but they had to wait outside.

(Principal's Office 1:18pm)

About thirty minutes have passed since the incident. Things seemed to have calmed down, but I was still getting scolded by the principal. It wasn't long till Yuki, Kyo, Uo, and Saki came in to speak on my behalf.

"What gave you the right to hurt another student like that?" asked the principal

"If someone hits me, I hit them back. It's common sense. I'm no pushover!" I replied

"So, you believe in eye for an eye?"

"I guess you could say that."

"I'm surprised at you Tohru. This is not like you at all. Now after hearing both sides of the story, you're still going to be punished."

"Why? I don't see what I did wrong."

"We don't allow that kind of behavior at school! I'm afraid I have no choice but to expel you."

"Sir wait, please reconsider!" said Yuki stepping in

"Why?" asked the principal

"Miss Honda has not been herself since the accident."

"And she forgot how to cook breakfast the other day," added Kyo

"He doesn't need to know that!" I snapped

"Sir I know she attacked Motoko, and we were shocked about what happened. This is something Tohru would never do. We're worried about her," added Uo

"Please sir. Tohru has worked so hard in this school. Her mother wanted to see her graduate," added Saki

The principal sighed and rubbed his head. Everyone was silent for a few moments.

"Tohru, you're so lucky to have a lot of people who care and look after you. Very well you're not expelled, but you still have to be punished. You will be suspended for the rest of the week," he said

"Wait sir, the finals are next week!" Yuki spoke up

"How's she going to study if she's suspended?" asked Kyo

"She's going to have to figure that out on her own. Let that be part of her punishment and while she's suspended, she better get more rest. Also, if she's still not herself, she should see a doctor about it," said the principal

Everyone nodded as the principal turned his attention to me.

"Tohru, I never want to see that kind of behavior again. Am I clear?" asked the principal

"I assure you, it won't happen again," I said

"Good. As for Motoko and this fan club, I will look into it. You all may go and finish the school day. Tohru, I'll see you back on the day of the finals."

"Yes sir."

As we left the office, I let out a quiet sigh. I was glad to be out of that office. Pretending to be Tohru really was difficult and I almost got her expelled from school. I admit that I was surprised that Yuki, Kyo, and her friends stood up for me. By the end of the school day, I went to Tohru's locker to get her things as Kyo, and the others went off somewhere.

"I just still can't believe it," said Yuki

"I know. I never realized Tohru had it in her," said Kyo

"Stop joking around! Tohru would never hit anyone," said Uo

"I did predict earlier that her waves were different. It's like Tohru is a different person," said Saki

"What is she going to do about the final?" asked Kyo

"I'll take notes for her and get as much information as I can," said Yuki

"What about her job?" asked Uo

"Oh no, she's not going into work after what happened today," said Kyo

"Well, she can't keep missing work, or she'll get fired," said Saki

"I'll cover for her if I have to," said Yuki

"I guess that settles that then," said Uo

"Hey, are we going home or what?" I said approaching them

Everyone then started making their goodbyes. Uo and Saki hugged me. I hate being hugged, but I couldn't do anything about it. We parted ways and I started walking home with the rat and the cat. The walk home was quiet, but I didn't mind. Today didn't go so well. This plan Tohru and I thought of wasn't working. We'll have to come up with a new plan later. I just hope Tohru had a better day than I did.
