The JYP party was in full swing as Younghyun pulled you through the crowd. The drunk man was trying to find his other members to prove that he’d gotten you to go to a party. Now that you thought about it, it was probably a bet. You didn’t go to parties, especially ones the company held, there were always too many people. Suddenly, his hand slipped from yours, and you found yourself alone in the large crowd. You stopped moving, trying not to panic about the sheer number of people pressing in on all sides.
“Aw, crap” You breathed, trying to find your friend. Turning, you bumped into one of the newer idols. He grabbed your shoulders, steadying you both. Upon seeing the lost look on your face, he smiled warmly.
“Are you okay?” He asked, shouting to be heard over the noise.
“I’ve misplaced my friend.” You confessed. He smiles brightly, which is surprisingly calming.
“I can be your friend for now. I’m Chan.”
“Y/n,” You shook his hand eagerly. He seemed nice, and he was an idol, so you weren’t exactly worried.
“Do you wanna go somewhere not on the dance floor? Maybe we can find your friend.”
“Sure, I’d love that.” You agreed. He held out his hand again, which you took happily, and let him lead you away.
You didn’t get far before JYP himself stumbled into you, jostled by the crowd, and sloshed some of his drink onto your jacket. Your attention is pulled from Chan to the cold liquid now seeping into your side.
“Oh, I’m so sorry. Ah, Y/n, I was hoping you’d come!” He gasped, definitely a little more drunk than he really should be. You shrugged, sliding the garment off.
“It’s alright, sir, it was only my jacket.” You assured him.
“Give it here, I’ll have it cleaned for you and sent to your house. Are you at the one in Gangnam or Jeju more?” He insisted, taking the jacket from you.
“Gangnam. And thank you, sir.” You bowed, and he bowed back.
“I’ll get this back to you as soon as I can. Have a good night, and happy New Year.”
“Happy New Year, sir!” You called as he disappeared into the crowd. Turning, you half expected Chan to be gone, but he smiled at you from where he had stopped.
“Come on, I found a spot.” Taking his hand, which felt really nice in yours, you let him lead you to a section of the wall without other people. “You spoke so calmly to the boss, do you know him personally?”
“He’s a family friend; he nearly had a heart attack when he heard I was scouted by SM a few years ago.” You confessed, enjoying the way his eyes got wide.
“SM? Did you get to meet any idols?” You nodded happily.
“I met Sunny and Minseok sunbaes right after an interview, and then I met Kai sunbae as I was leaving the building.”
“Oi mate, there you are.” An Australian voice interrupted. “I thought we’d lost ya.” As he bounded over, he noticed you and gave a polite bow. “Oh uh, hello.” He quickly switched back to Korean. “I’m Lee Felix, and this is Seo Changbin.”
“Hello Felix,” You bowed in return, offering them a wave as well. “Hi, Changbin, I’m Y/n”
“Wassup, Felix?” Chan asked. Felix tore his eyes away from you to look at his Hyung.
“Oh, Jeongin was just wondering where you ran off to, but it seems you’re making friends.”
“Speaking of friends, we have yet to find yours.” Chan realized, turning back to you.
“Ready to rid yourself of my company already?” You teased, making him laugh.
“Maybe not, but you seemed worried about him.”
“Who are you looking for? Maybe I can help?” Felix offered.
“I’m looking for Younghyun.” Chan’s smile grew.
“I know him. We’re good friends. I saw him not seconds before I saw you.” He explained. “That explains why he was staring at his hand like it had betrayed him.” You couldn’t help but laugh at this.
“Oh, that silly man. I really should go find him, I’m supposed to drive him home.” You glance back into the crowd, hoping to spot his sequined jacket among the people.
“The countdown’s about to start,” Felix noted, pointing to the flat screen TV that had the countdown timer on it. Only 2 minutes left.
“Oh, it is.” You sighed, knowing it would be useless to try to look for him now, when the real festivities were about to begin.
“I heard there’s going to be fireworks,” Chan grinned, making you grimace. “Do you not like them?”
“No, I hate loud noises. They freak me out.” You confessed.
“So why are you at this party?”
“Brian asked me to come.”
“Are you two together?” You laughed, partly at the thought of dating someone who was like your brother, partly at Chan’s kinda hurt expression.
“Not remotely. He’s like my brother.” Chan nodded, clearly relieved at the fact.
“He’ll probably be easier to find when the party starts to die down.” You nodded, wrapping your arms around yourself when a gust of wind blew on your bare collarbones. Not a second later, something warm was draped across your shoulders, and you were shocked to find Chan’s blazer. When you looked at him, you saw Felix look between you both before grabbing Changbin and scurrying away.
“Thank you.” You smiled, sliding your arms into the sleeves.
“My jacket looks good on you.” He complimented. “Do you have someone to kiss at midnight?” His question was almost out of the blue.
“No, but if you want to kiss me at midnight, I have a rule.”
“And what is that?”
“You have to take me to dinner later on.”
“It’s a deal.”
