Chapter Text
She can always hear destiny calling her. Destinys hand lays reaching out, she never takes it, for her own good she walks in the opposite direction, away. Clearing her mind she took a long deep breath, the crisp winter air fled to her lungs, freezing her from the inside out. The cold stung her face relentlessly until she turned a pale pink, shivering she drew her wollen coat tighter around herself. Beneath her feet the cobbled street was coated in thin delicate layers of ice, it crunched under her boots leaving a trail of icy destruction in her path. Even with her hood up, the frosty breeze still managed to bite at the back of her neck. Looking up at the buildings she noticed the snow had draped itself over every roof, recreating the romantic pictures that always seem to appear in fairytales. The stars were scattered across the sky distinctive againt the navy night like the freckles of the heavens, with no light to pollute the view above the stars shone with all their brightness. After all, daytime is just a mask for the real exquisite nature of nightime. The soft moonlight illuminated the victorian style street, it would only be a few hours until the sky would be painted an array of warm red hues and then it would only be half an hour later when people of the town awoke. The eerily beautiful scene stood before her as the church bell rang out into the night. 1, 2, 3, 4am. The sound resonated around the sky and lingered in her ear before finally dissapating. Then it was silent, the kind of silence that only arrives late at night when no other soul is up. She continued to amble down the path which like her future seemed to be set in stone. "Seeking refuge from the cold are you?" "Yes." "It is freezing out there, this morning I swear i turned to ice before i even got outside." "Yup." "Not a talker?" Kiera looked up from her hot chocolate at the girl standing before her. "Not really" The talkative girl sat down opposite her, smiling. She can't have been any taller than Keira herself and her jovial attitude made it seem like today was the sunniest day in existence, she pulled down the fur lined hood of her coat revealing her messy black hair which only fell to her ear. She lit up the cafe better than any of the fluorescent lights could have. "I don't mind, I like talking and now I've sat down you may just have to listen. I'm Destiny by the way." "Keira." She was painfully aware of the dark circles beneath her own eyes. They were in a small cafe at the edge of the town, it was a cosy place that smelt of coffee and sweets. It was always full of music and the soft sound of laughter. Despite almost blending in to the background of the now busy road it was Kiera's faviroute cafe in all of town. There was hardly any people there nobody who would recognise her anyway . She came down to the cafe whenever she could sneak away, if anyone associated with her ever saw here in that part of town she would probably never be able to leave the house again. "I like your skirt," Destiny remarked. Keira could feel her cheeks heating up, she was dressed in a short black wool coat, a plain shirt with a long skirt and tights. It was comfortable and took an extremely good eye to notice the expensive brands. "Thanks, I," she paused, "Nevermind." Theia smiled and Keira couldn't help but notice her rosy cheeks and bright green eyes. "So, do you live near here?" Crap "Sort of." "Where?" "Not too far away" "Your not going to tell me are you," she sighed reluctantly. "No." Desperately, she held her hood up in an attempt to fight the roiling winds, which threw itself at her with all its strength. Trudging through the now knee deep snow, Keira made a beeline for the cafe. Yesterdays snow had become a blizzard. Yesterdays rain had become a storm. Yesterdays sweetness had become bitter, and yesterdays feelings had become confusing. As she opened the door adorned in icy artwork with such ornate patterns nature could be the only artist, a rush of warm air hit her numb body, allowing feeling to run through her face and fingers like lightning once more. The snow turned to water and ran of her coat, leaving a puddle behind her. She sat down on one of the old leather seats, and pulled out her laptop. Setting it down on the table in front of her, she heard someone walk up to her. Distractedly, she waved her hand, "Just a hot chocolate if that's ok." "Rude, I'm not buying you a hot chocolate." She turned around to see familiar dark brown eyes looking down at her. The crowds were soon lost behind her as she made her way down through a maze of poorly lit alleyways. Within a few minutes Keira stood in front of a pair of icy gates that loomed far over her head. The largest house on the outskirts of the ancient town. The place of utter terror. The place keira reluctantly called home.
