Work Text:
Tina leaned back in her chair. She laid down her pen and shook out her hand. Her eyes glanced over the open notebook in front of her. The next instalment of her sexy thriller book series was due for her editor next month and she had some serious writer's block.
"Hum, I just can't quite figure this part out," she tapped her finger on the desk.
Tina looked up at the framed photo sitting on her desk. Jimmy jr and Tina flanked Josh, who was dressed in a graduation gown. He had just graduated from Juilliard's dance program. She was so proud of him. They both were.
It had been difficult to be long distance from Josh for those four years, but it all came to a head when he graduated. Josh's career was going to keep him in New York. She felt like she couldn't ask Jimmy to move with her to New York with her.
So it was a question of being long-distance with Josh. Or moving to New York and being long distance from Jimmy. She gave a sad smile to the framed happy memory.
The clank of the lock rang from the front hall of their apartment. The voices of her two favourite boys filled the space. She sat up and walked out of her office. She wasn't going to be able to concentrate tonight.
"That was not what I thought it would be like. It was a lot of fun," Josh chuckled and rubbed his thighs.
"I can't believe you did that, that was badass! I don't usually let my students do that in their first class, but I know you could handle it." Jimmy exclaimed.
"Hey, you two," Tina tried to casually lean against the door frame. It felt awkward, so she stood up straight again.
"Hey, T," Jimmy called out.
"Hey, darling," Josh smiled at Tina.
"How was your first pole dance class, Josh? Jimmy didn't work you too hard?" Tina smirked.
"It was a lot of fun and Jimmy's a great teacher. I think I'm going to be sore tomorrow though," Josh said.
"You were great! It was cool seeing what a classically trained dancer could bring to class. T, you should have seen it! He popped up into an inverted butterfly like it was nothing," Jimmy gushed.
"Yeah, and my skin is going to be telling me about it for the rest of the week," Josh bemoaned.
"You get used to it," Jimmy laughed.
"I'm glad you guys had fun. Tea?" Tina walked over to the kitchen to get the kettle started.
"Yeah… Actually T, we had something we wanted to talk to you about," Jimmy's voice was full of apprehension.
It caused Tina to stop in her tracks. Her heart picked up a beat. She had to steady herself on the counter.
"What's u-up?" She tried to sound nonchalant but was failing. The kettle whistled, breaking the silence.
"What kind of tea do you want, T?" Jimmy waved Tina away from the cupboards.
"Sleepy time for me."
Josh sat at the table. Tina joined him.
"Josh?" Jimmy asked.
"Uh, Green please."
Jimmy brought over the three steaming mugs of tea and joined them at the table. Tina took a tentative sip of tea.
"So Jimmy and I were talking…" Josh reached out and put his hand on hers. She put down her tea.
"Yes and?" Oh my god, are they breaking up with me? Tina's imagination was taking over. She tried to focus on her breathing instead of spiralling out of control.
"What if we moved to New York?" Jimmy asked. He clasped Tina's free hand.
"New York? Wait, why?" She's still not getting it.
"So you could be closer to Josh? I thought you would like that," Jimmy was confused.
"We thought, if you were game, we could even try living the three of us together. New York is really expensive, but I think between the three of us we could swing something." Josh was looking apprehensive.
Tina sat in silence for a moment. From the outside, it looked like she was upset, but inside she was diving into a rich imagination of the three of them moving boxes into a small New York flat. Both of the guys were sweaty and had to take off their shirts. A small smile started to tug at her lips. She then started to imagining the three of them in the kitchen making dinner together. Tina teases Jimmy about his cooking technique. Josh starts laughing while he's setting the table. Somehow water gets spilled on their pants. "Oh no. Look, your pants are all wet. You'll have to take them off." Tina's smile brodens. The rest of Tina's imaginings have been censored for inappropria-osity.
"T?" "Tina?"
"Huh? Yeah? I mean yes, yes let's do it!"
"Oh ok, I'm glad you're game. There's a lot that we'll have to figure out, but I think we can do it," Josh said, giving her hand a squeeze.
"Yeah, I'm ready to go on this new adventure if you are T," Jimmy smiled.
Tina smiled at the both of them.
"Heck yeah."
