Work Text:
Tokyo is a big city, you think to yourself as you lay down the field after taking a bath, the towel still above your damp head, and the grass hugging the parts of your body that still haven't fully dried yet.
The city is filled with a bunch of vehicles and buildings that feel too tall for your small body. The polluted air feels like it's going to suffocate you every time you try to breathe, and there are too many people, strangers, all around you that you can't help but deel overwhelmed.
Your hometown is nothing like that.
Little things like these make you miss Nagano. Your home is filled with trees and grass, and you know every person, whether it be kids or adults, there.
Tokyo is mostly industrial, contrasting the agricultural side of Nagano, the environment you're used to. You can hear the crickets and you can also breathe properly. The summer breeze is fresh, and you miss the constant chirps of the birds that used to grate your ears.
And most importantly, unlike Tokyo, Nagano's night sky is littered with stars. Stars that guide you whenever you get lost in the woods (not that you need it, though, you've known that place your whole life so you memorise every turns and every place, even with your eyes closed.).
You feel like you will get lost in Tokyo if you step foot outside for too long, never to return again because you know nothing about this place.
You left your hometown to play a sport that you've loved all your life. To make your family proud, and to convince yourself that you made the right choice by leaving and pursuing this dream of yours.
You get up from the field and walk back to your dorm. You have no time to dwell on being homesick, not when your friends are counting on you and cheering you on.
