“You really think I can reach it?”
You stare at where the balloon floated against the ceiling, the string just grazing the tips of your fingertips if you outstretched your hand hard enough.
Hinata looks at you strangely, head cocking to the side, “Well, yeah!” He grins at you with the brightness of a thousand stars and you think you’re just not ready to stand in the light of something so bright.
“All you gotta do-” Hinata mimics you with his arm stretched over his head before bending his knees and jumps a little, “-is reach for it!”
He lands on the balls of his feet, making sure to repeat the motions of his hand grabbing the string in the empty air a few more times for good measure.
The sun shines in through the window, golden light falling over his broad shoulders and lighting up his already golden eyes and you finally understand what Akaashi means when he says that he can only do what he has always done when standing in front of a star.

(All I gotta do is reach for it)
Everything comes when the time is right
(That’s all it is [name], just a leap of faith)
You take a deep breath and relax your fingertips as the ledge crumbles beneath your feet. The sea waves whisper under you as they crash into rocks and for the first time in a few months, you think you can finally breathe again.
“Hinata, I like you”
There is a moment of silence as he tries to swallow you with his gaze and you are falling, falling, falling until-
The sea roars.
The balloon pops, pink pieces of plastic floating between the two of you.
“[name], I’m really sorry but-”
