Chapter 1: The Meeting

Chapter Text

"Now this, this is life." Keigo said as he sat down on his brand new couch with a glass of wine in one hand and a tv remote in the other. He happily sighed and set his feet up on his new glass coffee table. Suddenly, but unfortunately for Keigo, his doorbell runged.

'Oh. My. God. Are you fucking kidding me right now!?' Keigo angrily thought to hisself. It was his first time in 4 months where he could fully sit down and relax after what seemed like YEARS of shopping and preparing himself for his new house, not being able to have much time to himself besides when he is about to sleep. Now that he finally has the time to relax, sit down, have some wine, and just chill out, he can't. Now of all times.

He calmly sat his glass of wine down on his coffee table and then he took a nice, long, deep breath. Keigo then began to repeatedly hit the couch that he sat on.

"Why me Lord, why me?!" he exaggeratedly said out loud. Keigo was never a fan of violence unless he was the one inflicting the pain and, oh boy, would he love to inflict pain onto whoever rang that damn doorbell.

As he was reluctantly getting up, the doorbell rang again. Impatient bastard. This time a woman's voice called out his name, "Keigo, come on, open up!".

'Rumi!?' Keigo thought. He couldn't believe she was at his door right now, she was the one who went on the excruciating furniture shopping trips with him, told him what he should and shouldn't buy to save money, to which he complained to about not getting any rest. What the hell was she knocking at his door for? He got up and went to answer the door. He opened it with an annoyed expression and then a surprised face and then an annoyed face again.

"Rumi?" Keigo asked.

"Yes?" She replied.

"Why in the hell are you hiding your face with blue lilies?" He said as he snatched the flowers out of the rabbit's hands.

"Woah woah, birdy, don't catch an attitude with me. I just forgot to give you the flowers yesterday, my bad. But, think of this as a housewarming gift." Rumi said with one of the brightest smile on her face. Curse those pearly whites.

"Why are you giving me flowers for a housewarming gift? Are you just too lazy to actually buy something for me?" Keigo asked as he smelled the flowers. He quickly put them to his side. 'They smell like strawberry cigarettes' he thought to himself.

"Well yes, I am. But I also know how much you like lilies." Rumi responded, that same smile still plastered to her face. "Well, thanks I guess, I like lilies, but I like them more when they don't smell like strawberry cigarettes." he said glaring at Mirko.

"Oh, yeah…. sorry about that. See, I had this girl over- well, not a girl, but a woman, if you know what I mean." Mirko spoke as she playfully winked at him. Hawks displayed his disgust in Rumi as he stared deep into her eyes before finally saying, "Yes, unfortunately, I do understand what you're saying. If you could not elaborate and move away from my door, that would be fantastic and it would also really make my day."

"Aw, come on birdie!" the white-haired bunny said teasingly, "don't you want to hear about what happened next?" she continued, nudging him with her shoulder, eyebrows raising up and down as Keigo stared blankly at her. "I really don't if you don't mind." he replied. Mirko began to laugh as she noticed the bird's eye twitching and immediately responded back. "No, no! We watched a movie together is all! God, you should seen the look on the look on your face!" she said while laughing. He really hated her- loved her most of the times, but hated her also.

She then took Keigo's face in her hands and started cooing at him. Keigo never wanted to body slam a woman as much as he wanted to at this moment.

"Get. Off. Of. Me" he said, eyes twitching even more.

"Fine, fine, don't get your panties in a bunch." Mirko teased as she moved her hands to her side. "At least I'm getting action." she whispered under her breath, probably hoping she wasn't heard. She was.

"And what the hell is that supposed to mean?" Keigo asked with annoyance very visible in his voice as he crossed his arm with those stupid lilies still in his grasp.

"You know exactly what it means."

"You know what, whatever, okay? I don't need anyone in my life. I'm fine being single." Keigo said. He knew he was lying through his teeth. He was lonely and so badly wanted a companion and since Mirko was a pro hero, they really weren't able to talk as much as he liked (it has nothing to do with him being clingy). It's not that he couldn't get anyone, it's that he was scared. Scared of being unloved and treated horribly much like his parents treated him. Keigo was terrified at the thought of actually dating and catching feelings for someone, but he also so badly wanted to. He so badly wanted to have someone hold him, cook for him, to listen to his problems, to listen to their problems, cuddle with, be able to wake up to them every morning, etc. He wanted someone who could look into his eyes and say that they truly loved them, but he knew that he'd never get that sitting in his house, sitting on the couch, sulking, blocking out the world.

"Umm, hello? Earth to birdie?" Mirko said as she snapped her fingers in his face. "Huh? Oh yeah, sorry, guess I zoned out for a while." Keigo replied, scratching the back of his neck. Mirko made a face and returned her hands to her side. "I'm fine, just a bit tired." he assured her. Mirko didn't look too convinced, but eventually her expression relaxed. "Well, I'm going to go back to my house, so you can have your much-needed space and house to yourself. Call you later?" Mirko said as she started walking backwards. "Uh, yeah, sure." Keigo responded. Rumi shot him a quick smile with a two fingered salute and started walking along the sidewalk. Keigo watched as she stopped and turned around. "What is it?" He asked. "Make sure you buy a vase for those flowers, k?" she said, giving him another smile.

Keigo completely forgot about the lilies she had given him. After all, that was the reason she came over. She probably also came over to check on him, but she didn't say it. He hated when she did that though, it just made him think that she was pitying him. He looked up to thank her, but she was gone already. But, he still smiled to himself and headed back inside to try and relax once again, hoping that this time, he wouldn't be interrupted.

'Why do gays have to be so tragic?' Keigo thought to himself as he finished coloring a boys love character's hair on his iPad he recently had gotten. He was drawing a bl manwha fanart and although he wasn't a fan of manwha, he had to admit that this one particularly was the first that caught his eye. He enjoyed action and supernatural things also, so that's probably another reason why.

"Ughh, I'm seriously so tired right now." he said to himself as he yawned and stretched. "I need a long nap."

He saved his art, plug the iPad up, and wanted to fix himself something to drink before laying down. As he turned around, he noticed the blue lilies Rumi gave him earlier sitting in a glass cup with water in it and he suddenly frowned. 'Damn it, I forgot to buy a vase, I need to go to the store. Aww, but I'm so tired.'. 'Okay, just one quick trip to the store to buy whatever vase I see first and that's it.'.

That's not at all what happened. The first vase he saw was an ugly dark green color with beige and orange flowers surrounding it and some latin or other language in the middle. Very tacky. He started to walk around and ended up in the snack area. He got some chips, candy, and drinks. 'Okay, make this your first and last stop, Keigo. Go find the vases, check out, and head home.' he tried to tell himself.

That also didn't work, at all.

He ended up getting office supplies, paint palettes, pencils, sketch books, stickers, soda, some water (because he's healthy yk), extra light bulbs, etc, etc. He spent well over 300 dollars on things he wasn't supposed to even be getting. To top it all off, as he was walking outside, he remembered that he didn't even find a vase (a vase that he liked anyway), therefore, he never even bought one in the first place. 'What the hell man?!' he thought as he facepalmed hisself. 'Fucking hell man. I wouldn't even be in this if that damn rabbit didn't show up to my house with her stupid cigarette smelling flowers. Fuck!'.

As he started back walking (angrily), he suddenly bumped into something rock hard, causing him to drop two of his grocery bags. "Damn it!" he said.

"Oh shit man, I'm sorry, I wasn't watching where I was going."

"It's fine, neither was I I guess." Keigo responded. He started to rub his head where he was bumped. 'Damn it, that hurts.'.

"Oh, I uh- think you dropped this- well, I made you drop this." the rock hard person said as he handed Keigo his dropped bag "Oh, thanks." Keigo responded as he grabbed the bag from him. As he looked up with his hand still attached to his head, he was met with the most prettiest ocean blue eyes on earth. No seriously, he could most definitely win first place in blue eyed contest if any of them even existed. He took a second to analyze this person and boy, was it worth it.

This person was a boy- no, a man.

This greek god of a man had snow white hair, some couple of scars on his skin that was showing, but mostly around his face, one scar around his eye area that looked x shaped, the most beautiful jawline Keigo had ever seen in all his years of living, even his collarbone was amazing, he was pretty muscular (probably a weight lifter), a silver nose piercing, some silver ear piercings, pretty rose pink lips, and an everloving smile plastered on his face. Saying that this man was gorgeous or hot was an understatement, he was like a god himself, coming down to bless and please Keigo in every way possible. Keigo was loving every second of this. But, unfortunately, that loving had to be cut short.

"Um, I'm sorry again." the stranger said while still smiling and scratching his head. "Huh? Oh, that! No, seriously it's fine, I wasn't really paying attention either." Keigo said, still trying to hold eye contact, not wanting to take one look away from this god. 'I most definitely need to draw him when I get home.' the bird thought, completely forgetting about his earlier plan of wanting to rest for a while. The stranger just smiled for a few seconds more and then spoke again, "I'm Touya, and you are?" He politely asked.

Keigo became immediately flustered.

"Oh, I'm Keigo. Nice to meet you Touya." he answered smiling.

"It's nice to meet you too, Keigo." Touya said. To the bird's disappointment, the taller white-haired god was the first to break eye contact to stare at the shorter man's wings. "Those are some pretty cool wings you got there, are they always that size?" He questioned.

'Omg, omg, he's asking about me! Me! Okay, calm down Keigo, stop being a such a wreck and answer him.' he excitedly thought to himself. "No, they aren't always this small, they're actually bigger. But, they're also a huge nuisance sometimes and cause my back to hurt, so I like to keep them this size" he replied. "You know what they say, beauty is pain.".

"Yeah, that is true."

'What, does he think my wings are.. beautiful? I mean, I haven't come across someone who thinks otherwise, but still, to hear it from a man like this..' he thinks to himself. 'Ugh. I'm so in love.'

"Well, Keigo, I was about to grab a bite down at this pastry shop, you wanna come with? I can pay as an apology" Touya asked while pointing behind him with his thumb, still smiling.

'Like a date? Oh my god, oh my god. Oh. My. God. A date with this man-god would seriously be heaven itself.'

"Uh, yeah, sure. That'd be.. cool?" Keigo responded, trying to sound cool. He failed. Touya just laughed and took the some of bird's bags from either hand and said, "It wouldn't make me much of a gentleman if I let you carry the bags all by yourself, especially after asking you to a lunch date."

'So it was a date! Well, a lunch date, but still a date!'

"Thanks." Keigo responded, smiling giddy like an unaware fool.

The taller man just started walking, gesturing to Keigo to follow him with his free hand. Keigo caught on and started picking up his pace. This is the best day of my miserable life.

Lunch was great. No, great is really an understatement, it was fantastic, majestic even. Maybe that's an overexaggeration, but it still went better than Keigo had expected honestly. They talked for a coupleof hours, the best hours of Keigo's damn life and he hoped it was the same for Touya too. They talked about their favorite movies, tv shows, what genres they like, their favorite music artists, favorite brands of whatever, favorite celebrities, food, colors, talked about their quirks a little (he had a fire quirk!), etc etc. They both seemed very interested and had a lot in common. They talked about everything- well almost everything.

The only thing they didn't really get a chance to talk about was their occupations. When Keigo brought it up, he said that he was an artist. Touya seemed impressed and intrigued and commented about how he would love to see one of Keigo's drawings.

Keigo happily agreed and then asked him about his job. Touya seemed surprised and got a bit nervous. He quickly put on a smile and told Keigo it was getting late and had somewhere to be. Keigo had to admit he kinda was disappointed, but regardless, understood. They promised they'd get in contact with each other later and exchanged their phone numbers and after that, their goodbyes.

Now that Keigo was at home, in his bed, he wondered why Touya had reacted that way.

'Is it because he's ashamed of whatever he does or embarrassed? Does he not work? Is it illegal? No, stop snooping Keigo. Whatever his job is, isn't none of your business. He probably didn't tell you for a good reason.' he told himself. Suddenly, a text popped up on his phone. He opened it and it read:

Bunny girl: Hey loser, I was wondering if I could come over at your house to watch a movie. I know you wanted your space, but I miss you birdy->-!! Plus, I made brownies!!

Keigo would've told her to not tonight if she didn't mention the brownies, so he shot her a text back:

Keigo: Fine, but only because you mentioned brownies. I guess I do need company also, I feel kinda lonely now I just got finished with my lunch date.

Mirko responded back almost immediately.

Bunny girl: YOUR WHAT?! LUNCH DATE?! There's no way anybody would want to date your loser ass.

Keigo: First off, yes, a date. Second off, fuck you. He was amazing and we have each other our numbers. He said he'd call me tomorrow. We talked for hours, not a few minutes like you and your fuck buddies.

Bunny girl: they are not 'fuck buddies', they are acquaintances. I talk to them to see if they worthy enough to actually become a fuck buddie

Keigo: you're fucking sick -_-

Bunny girl: no, I feel well, but thanks always for checking up on me

Keigo: Whatever, just come to my house and use your key, I don't feel like getting out of bed -v-

Bunny girl: I lost my key, why do you think I was ringing your doorbell?

Keigo: I swear I hate you

Bunny girl: love you too ♡v♡

It was about 10-15 minutes until the bunny actually arrived. She lived in the neighborhood where Keigo stayed, but her house was closer to the gate and Keigo's was further to the back.

Keigo had stayed at Rumi's house for a while when looking for his own place. He used to live in a shitty apartment that had roaches, holes in the walls, frequent blackouts and roof leaks, and worst of all, it was above a bar. You could only imagine how many fights went down and how rarely Keigo even got a blink of an eye rest. Rumi hated that Keigo had to put himself through that because it was cheap and all he could afford, so she let him stay at her home. It was easier that way since she worked a lot and would stay over at her 'acquaintances' house sometimes. She never charged him any rent and in return Keigo helped out in any way he could. Rumi considered Keigo to be her little brother and Keigo considered Rumi his older, irresponsible sister. Rumi is also helping pay for Keigo's house until he gets another job after getting laid off from his last one due to budget cuts.

They were now both sitting on Keigo's couch, sipping on the soda Keigo had brought earlier, and watching the cringy rom-com movie Rumi was talking about. "It's.. nice.. isn't it?" Rumi questioned him while forcing a smile.

"It's cringy and like any other romantic comedy movie I've seen before."

"Yeah, the ratings were good and it had my favorite actors in it, but it kinda sucks." Rumi agreed. She got the remote and exited out of the movie, putting on the hero network as background instead and turned to Keigo, with a sly smirk on her face.

"So," she began, raising her eyebrows up and down, "How was your lunch date? You two had fun?" she asked, continuing to raise her eyebrows suggestively.

Keigo caught on and quickly denied her assumptions.

"Yes, I had fun, but not in that way you freak. I just met him today."

"You just met him today and went out on a date with him today?".

"Yes?" Keigo said, unsure of why she asked it like that. "Wow, I didn't realize you were so easy, this guy must've been gorgeous." she replied, raising her eyebrows more frequently this time.

"There are no words to describe how gorgeous he looked. I felt like I hit the jackpot in dating." he responded, cheeks rosy a little. "Well," Rumi said, pausing on the raising of her brows, "If you felt that way.. you should've most definitely hit that.".

Keigo paused for a second, the look of disgust and disappointment apparent on his face. "You're disgusting." he finally said. Mirko laughed and looked at the television, the hero network still playing. "I'm just kidding birdie, just make sure you don't get your heart broken. It's bad enough you're sad on a daily basis, I don't want to see you anymore sad. It's kinda pathetic. "

"I'm not that sad and I'm not at all pathetic."

"Are too." Rumi argued as she sat her soda bottle down on the coffee table.

"Are not." Keigo argued back, brows furrying.

"Are too."

"Are not."

"Are too."

"Are not."

"Are too."

"Are not."

Rumi turned her attention away from the tv and quickly covered Keigo's mouth and repeated, "Are too."

In response, Keigo just rolled his eyes and shook Rumi's hand off of his mouth. She laughed as he got her way and turned her attention back to the tv, took her soda bottle in hand, and began to drink. Keigo just turned to look at the tv. There was some hero and a reporter on and she was questioning him about his hero work that day. It seemed boring to Keigo and he paid more attention to the hero's appearance than the actual conversation.

He had on a black mask with blue fire strokes on the bottom of it. 'Tacky' he thought. He had a blue, white, and black outfit with the white outlining his jacket with some black open finger gloves. He had a couple of visible scars and a beautiful smile. A familiar smile. Keigo glanced at the text on the screen and it read: Pro Hero Inferno. He thought that maybe he had a fire type related quirk (obviously). He then paused after taking a second glance at the masked hero's face. He had scars which is normal for a hero, but it was one particular scar that stood out to Keigo, a x shaped scar. And his smile sort of made him feel warm. Kinda like..

'...Touya?'
