Work Text:
Alex stood, back straight and arms folded behind their back. Their long white hair flowed over their shoulders and their eyes showed beautifully in the light from the sun. They were practically embers, its pupils slightly dilated. It wore a tailcoat suit, white button up underneath, and a black bow tie. With its signature chains that dripped cautiously over, and the piercings along its elf-like ears. There was really nothing telling you that this was their everyday persona other than their hair being down, but that was just fine for Morgan.
Even if this wedding and marriage were for tax benefits only, he still enjoyed seeing Alex at their best, trying to look their best for this day. It made his heart flutter in a way he couldn't really explain. Morgan himself looked great, white suit and black bow tie, his suit led into a long poofy train at the back.
The wedding officiant announced that they may say their vows, Morgan going first. He said his, none of them being true. None of them were what he wanted to say, but he was okay with that. This wedding was tax benefits only, it was best he went with something overused and cheesy, though he'd bet that Alex would probably overdo it. They always did. He had to admit though, Alex looked good. His suit was tighter around the waist, enunciating it perfectly. He knew that Alex avoided wearing clothes and outfits that showed off their body, so he wondered why they were doing it now.
It didn't matter anymore as Alex began to say their vows, he looked up into its eyes. It had a strange look on their face, seemingly indifferent but something still lurking underneath. Alex had agreed to make their wedding vows believable, so they tuned in to hear what it was going to say.
"Morgan," they almost whispered, even though everyone in the crowd could hear it. God, Morgan looked amazing.
"You made my life so much brighter. You changed it for the better. After everything that had happened, I didn't feel human anymore. You made me feel human again. You made me feel whole again. You changed me back to who I was before. I would give you anything. Let you use me however you wanted, let you take advantage of me in every way, and I would never be upset. I would give you the whole world, and all you had to do was ask. I will protect you, from everything and everyone. I will make sure that no one ever hurts you again and let them know that you are mine."
Alex straightened their back again and looked away from Morgan's face, refusing to gauge his reaction. It didn't want to know. It never wanted to know.
And underneath their breath they whispered something they hoped Morgan wouldn't hear, "I love you."
Morgan did hear them though.
