When he turns his back again, he’s shocked to face Granger, not Pansy.
he thinks, wryly, great, this is a switching partners dance, then steps toward her just like all the other gentlemen to their lady partners. she too chooses to see the song through.
he expects she’ll step on his toes, if not on purpose, then by being poorly learnt. but she keeps up fairly, letting him lead her through the motions smoothly, back arching gracefully when dipped, and when he lifts her in a twirl, she is light and elegant.
They switch before he realizes he’s enjoying himself.
