Work Text:
The evening was starting to settle in the city of Parfaedia, the sun had just gone to its slumber while cookies were flocking to their homes. Many cookies were prepping for their night of sleep but not a specific family. No, these cookies were preparing for a night of movies and family bonding. A white-haired woman stood in the kitchen, having a bowl under the popcorn maker to catch the popped kernels. It was the only sound in the house, just the “pop pop pop” of popcorn. She already had the butter ready in another dish while a brunette detective sat in the living room to figure out the film setup. It was a small, at-home projector that they could use. The screen was already set up and now Almond was placing the movie “Jams-Bond” into the film thing, letting it wind up while he struggled to get up. “Latte, when they want to watch another movie do you think you can change it?” He asked, only for her to turn her head to look at him and nod. “Yes hun, but do you think you can get the girls and tell them the movie is almost ready and to get in their pjs?” She was already in hers, a tank top with loose sweatpants with coffee mugs all over them. The detective simply nodded. Dressed in a beige t-shirt with brown sweatpants, his very boring sleepwear.
The girls were currently in their shared space, Walnut and Creampuff were reading each other’s books. Creampuff was currently reading a detective mystery, she was just getting to the 5th chapter. Walnut had a book about the different types of magic that cookies used, both were engulfed in their books. It was a pleasant thing to see, especially as Almond peaked his head in. “Girls, the movie is ready, although your mother has requested that you wear your pjs.” He said, before leaving. His hand grabbed the doorknob and closed it for the girls to have their privacy. Creampuff got off her bed and put the bookmark to keep her place. “Wow, I think Peanut brittle cookie is… suspicious.” She whispered, talking about the book. It brought her sister’s attention, making her jump up. “Yes! I thought that too, oh but I don’t want to spoil it, but I can say it’s *not* Peanut Brittle.” She giggled, leading the other to have a pout. “Walnuuttt, you can’t do that.” The kid said, tilting her forward before bumping it into the young cookie’s shoulder. “Now come on, the last one downstairs is a crumbly cookie!” Creampuff said, opening the closet to quickly grab her nightgown. Her sister followed suit.
It only took a total of three minutes, before Walnut was rushing down. She was wearing a squirrel onesie, holding a walnut-themed blanket as she wrapped it around her shoulders. Jumping onto the arm of the couch that Almond had just sat down on. “Victory is mine!” She giggled, Creampuff following behind dragging a star-covered blanket. Her nightgown was star and jellybean themed, dragging her way to the couch and slowly got on. The winner has snuggled herself up to their dad, grinning with delight. Soon Latte showed up, holding the bowl of popcorn and setting it down on the coffee table in front of them. “Girls, I need to snuggle up to your father. I’m cold.” She grinned, only to receive a sigh from Almond. “Oh woe is me, my three favorite girls want to snuggle with me. Whatever will I do.” He huffed dramatically, Creampuff moving so Latte could sit down before she got up close to snuggle her mother. The blankets were draped across everyone, somehow managing to fit the family of four under two small blankets.
Almond, with his one free hand, reached out to grab the popcorn, setting it on his lap. It allowed the two young girls to grab at it. He then wrapped his arm around Latte’s shoulders, holding her a little bit closer. The kitchen light was off, meaning the only light now was coming from the projector. The screen was still white until the title card with music flashed onto the screen. “Jams-Bond, the unsolved mystery.” It made the two nut-based cookies giggle under their breath. “I bet I could solve it.” Muttered Walnut, before shoving some more popcorn in her face. Creampuff looked at her and grinned. “Wanna see who can solve it first?” Those were the last words before the movie officially started. Unfortunately, one by one, the family would fall asleep. It went Almond, then Latte, then Creampuff… Walnut almost made it, but she fell asleep before the mystery was even solved. The happy family was all snuggled up, and the popcorn bowl was empty.
