"What do you mean you can't swim?" Hastur asked, astonished at what he just heard.
"Shut up! I just never learned how!" Edgar pouted as he crossed his arms.
Hastur and Edgar were sitting on the beach at the lakeside village and hastur suggested to take a swim when Edgar revealed that he had no idea how to swim.
"Thats insane!" Hastur said as he turned to face his partner, who was pouting, angry that Hastur was making such a big deal out of something so trivial, "do you not realise how crazy that is?"
"What do you mean?" Edgar hissed, "how Is that crazy!?" Edgar glared at his partner who was chuckling a bit.
"Dearest, I'm a god that primarily works with large amounts of water," Hastur said as he scooted towards his partner, "you're a man who can't swim and you're dating a sea god. Think about that for a moment." Hastur placed a claw on the side of Edgar's face as they pouted.
"When you put it like that it sounds bad!" Edgar groaned as he pushed Hasturs hand away, "and its not my fault! I wasn't near any lakes or ponds or oceans when i was a kid!" Edgar gave Hastur a disapproving look, kinda pissed off that his partner was rubbing this in his face.
"Well we have some water here, why don't I teach you?" Hastur offered, genuine about teaching his lover how to swim. Edgar looked at Hastur with a scowl. But... it was a tempting offer, Being able to know how to swim would be nice.
"Fine. But Ill need a change of clothes." Edgar said quietly. Hastur seemed to beam after hearing Edgar accept his offer. Hastur produced a bag of an exact copy of Edgar's clothes and hummed sweetly as he showed the bag to him. Edgar sighed as he stood up and started taking off most of his clothes. Edgar was left in his boxers and Hastur chuckled a bit.
"Alright, cmon dearest." Hastur cooed as he grabbed Edgar's hand before leading him into the water. The water was freezing, it was as if it was just freshly melted. Edgar backed up onto the dry sand, making Hastur confused.
"Dear, are you alright?" Hastur asked.
"Yeah... it's... it's just really cold." Edgar said quietly. Hastur chuckled a bit at Edgar's reluctance to step into the water.
"You need to ease yourself in," Hastur said as he moved behind Edgar and gently pushed Edgar forward, not enough to knock him over but just enough to put him in the water. Edgar squeaked at the freezing water and tried to move back but bumped into Hastur. Edgar whined but Hastur didn't let Edgar go back to the dry sand. Slowly but surely the two of them made it out far enough for the water to hit Edgar's chest, despite his protests.
"This should be good enough," Hastur said as he stopped pushing Edgar forward, "we're gonna do some small things to get you more acquainted with the water, okay?" Edgar looked at Hastur with a somewhat fearful expression.
"Don't worry dear, I won't let you get hurt." Hastur cooed as he gently picked Edgar up, "take a deep breath and put your arms out, we're gonna have you float on the water." Edgar tensed up and attached himself to Hastur when he tried laying him down. Hastur cocked his head to the side a bit.
"Dear?" Hastur asked, quite concerned, "are you alright?" Edgar gave a quick nod in response.
"I'm.. I'm just kinda nervous..." Edgar murmured, "I know you won't let anything happen to me but... I'm still quite nervous, you know?" Edgar's grip on Hasturs robes were strong and it made the god chuckle.
"Alright my dear, how about this?" Hastur said before he made it so that he was floating on the water while Edgar was laid on top of him, a hand on edgars side to keep him in place. Edgar had a death grip on Hasturs robes but after a few minutes it loosened up. The two of them floated in the water peacefully for a while, enjoying the feeling of the water and the sun shining on them. It was a nice feeling, being able to share something important to Hastur with Edgar, and it was nice for Edgar, knowing that he had something to share with Hastur.
