Sitting at the table in his dorm, Shinobu rhythmically taps his fingers on the wood of the table. His other hand he used as a rest for his head as he stared blankly at the wall. His eyes unfocused & his mind deep in his thoughts.
A few minutes goes by & the sound of the door handle turning could be heard, but Shinobu’s thoughts were too preoccupied for him to even notice that his roommate Tsukasa has just come home from Knights practice.
“I’m home!” Tsukasa called out but with no response. Taking off his shoes, he hears a light tapping coming from the kitchen. Walking over to the room (not before taking of his outside clothes, of course.) Tsukasa peaks through the doorframe & spots Shinobu sitting at the table.
“Shinobu-kun?” He calls out.
This startles Shinobu & finally breaks him from his thoughts. He looks around himself wildly, before he spots Tsukasa at the doorframe.
“Oh, Suou-kun! Welcome back, de
gozaru!“
Shinobu greets Tsukasa with a smile.
“You seem to have been pretty deep in thought, is something the matter?” Tsukasa says as he walks forward the table to take a seat in front of Shinobu.
“A-ah, uuuu… It’s a bit embarrassing…”
Shinobu responds looking down & nervously playing with his hands.
“It’s okay, even if you find it embarrassing, you can rely on me. That is my duty as a knight after all.”
Tsukasa says, placing a hand on his chest.
Shinobu looks up at Tsukasa with a small smile.
“You’re so kind Suou-kun! & well… I could use some help. You see, um…”
Shinobu trails of, breaking eye contact again. Tsukasa gives him an encouraging look & Shinobu continues.
“There is- there is this person that I have discovered I have romantic feelings for. But I’m… not sure what I should do from now on.”
Tsukasa didn’t ask who he was referring to, letting Shinobu keep that information to himself. Leaning back a bit in his chair Tsukasa responds with something that was obvious for him.
“You could try courting them.”
“Oh! I- I didn’t think of that at all! Mhmh! That’s a great idea Suou-kun, thank you for helping this ninja with his troubles!”
Shinobu responds excitedly, being very satisfied with this new discovery.
“It was no problem at all, Shinobu-kun. I wish you the best of luck with this courting.”
Tsukasa replies, happy to be of help for his fellow classmate & idol.

Walking to class the next day, Shinobu feels lighter then he has done that whole week. The new advice he got from his roommate lays on his mind.
Shinobu decides he should court his crush the Ninja way. Ninjas are heroes in the shadows, so Shinobu will make sure he’s always available in case a situation gets dire (as dire it can get in a school) & that his crush is safe & sound by protecting him while using his stealth techniques so he doesn’t get seen.
Speaking of his crush, while Shinobu was arriving to his classroom, he spots Yuta outside his own classroom. Yuta spots Shinobu too as he walks over to him with a smile.
“Good morning Shinobu-kun, how are you today?”
Yuta asks when he reached Shinobu.
“Good morning to you too, Yuta-kun! This ninja is doing great today!”
Shinobu replies cheerfully with a grin.
“Really? That’s great! You have seemed kinda troubled recently.”
Yuta says.
“It is true that yours truly have been troubled recently, but that situation has been resolved! Because I have gotten some advice that has enlightened me.”
Shinobu feels his heart sting with guilt for making his dear friend worry. Has his unit-mates noticed his previous mood too?
“That’s a relief! I’m glad that you don’t feel sad anymore, Shinobu.”
Yuta says with a soft smile on his face. Shinobu’s guilty quickly disappears as he sees Yuta’s smile. His heart beak quickening a bit too.
Before they could continue their conversation further, the sound of footsteps cuts them out of their talk as both of their respective teachers has started walking to the classroom to start the day’s first lesson.
“Ah! The teachers are here! We’ll talk later Shinobu-kun!”
Yuta exclaims as he turns around & start speed walking back to his classroom (since running in the halls are forbidden)
“Um! See you soon Yuta-kun!”
Shinobu turns around & does the same. Fortunately for both of them, they arrived on time so neither of them got into any trouble with the teachers.

The lunch bell has rung & Shinobu was the first 1 out of his classroom. Running quietly to Yuta’s classroom, he hid by the wall as he was waiting for Yuta to walk to the cafeteria so he could protect him from the darkness. It wouldn’t be a practical sneak attack to anyone out for his dear Yuta if they could see Shinobu. So hiding was the best way. Good thing Shinobu has practice really hard on his concealing techniques!
Admits his thoughts, Yuta walks out of his classroom & continues his way towards the cafeteria.
Shinobu follows behind making sure to utilise his concealing methods effectively. Arriving at the cafeteria, Yuta stops in his tracks & scans the room. Seemingly looking for something.
“Where’s Shinobu-kun?”
Shinobu can hear Yuta mumble to himself. He decides that he has successfully made sure Yuta has been safe during his walk, so Shinobu reveals himself.
“Hello Yuta-kun.”
Shinobu says from Behind Yuta, startling him. Yuta whips his head around to face Shinobu.
“Oh! There you are Shinobu-kun! Are testing out some new ninja techniques? I couldn’t see you at all!”
Yuta replies cheerfully.
“Um, I was! & by your reaction I conclude that they were effective.”
Shinobu nods with a smile.
“They really were. Well, now that I’ve found you, should we eat lunch?”
Yuta asks, pointing with his thumb over the shoulder to the rest of the cafeteria.
“Mmh! This ninja is quite hungry & would be more then happy to accompany Yuta-kun to eat.”

The thing Yuta said about Shinobu’s concealment techniques being effective doesn’t seem to be that true. Because during the rest of the day Yuta has been looking over his shoulder, confusion written all over his face.
The school day has ended & the students of Yumenosaki has started their respective club activities. & right now, Shinobu is protecting Yuta for possible threats while Yuta himself is walking to the Light Music club room.
This is the first time the Ninja association has had a proper mission during club time. & Shinobu is a little excited. He feels useful spending his time ensure his beloved friends safety. Though he has started to feel a bit concerned when Yuta started stopping in his tracks to look around him. As if he’s looking for someone. Shinobu worries that he isn’t as sneaky as he thought.
Shaking his head to gain back his concentration, Shinobu sees that Yuta has started walking again.
Yuta rounds a corner & Shinobu follows suit. Though ad soon as Shinobu has turned to continue walking forward in the corridor, 2 hands slams against the wall, trapping Shinobu & leaving no room for escape. Yuta eyes a knitted together & his expression shows anger. But as soon has Yuta recognises who’s in front of him his expression changes to the 1 of shook as he retracts his hands from the wall.
“S-Shinobu-kun? What are you?- Wait! Are you the 1 who has been following me???”
Yuta questions.
‘Well there is no use in lying.’ Shinobu thinks as he opens his mouth to talk.
“Suou-kun said I should try courting & so I decided to do it the ninja way.”
Shinobu spat out, still a bit shaken from being confronted in such manner. He can’t really blame Yuta though.
“Wah- courting?”
Yuta says. Looking more confused & shocked then ever. He then looks around the corridor to see if anyone was listening.
“Let’s talk somewhere more private.”
He finally says as he grabs Shinobu’s hand & drags him to an empty practice room.
Making sure it completely empty, Yuta locks the door & turns back to Shinobu who was nervously fidgeting with his hands.
“So um, what was that thing about courting about?”
Yuta starts, rather awkwardly as Shinobu covers his face with his hands. This was not how he wanted his confession to go!!!
“Ahhh, this is so embarrassing…”
Shinobu mumble quietly before removing his hands from his face & then continuing. “I have been rather troubled about my feelings lately. So I asked Suou-kun for advice, & he said I should try courting. & I thought- I thought that as a ninja I should do my courting the ninja way. So I decided to be a hero from the shadows & make sure you were safe & that I was always available in case you needed help. Uuuu… I’m so sorry Yuta-kun!”
Shinobu hid his face in his hands again.
Having to explain his rather impulsive thoughts processes was embarrassing. Yuta probably hated him now & thought he was weird! Who follows their crush around as a form of courting anyway? Dumb, dumb, dumb Shinobu! Why didn’t he think it through???
Before Shinobu’s thoughts could spiral even more he hears laughing coming from Yuta.
Removing his hands to look at Yuta properly, he saw him covering his mouth in a poor attempt to calm down his laughter. Well, at least it wasn’t a negative reaction, right?
“T-thats so like you, Shinobu-kun!”
Yuta said between laughters.
Shinobu didn’t say anything, he just continued to look at Yuta as he tried to calm down. His cheeks were feeling hot from his embarrassment & he could see that Yuta’s face was slightly dusted with pink too.
Finally calming down, Yuta took Shinobu’s hands in his own & held them gently. Looking down at their hands fondly, Yuta spoke.
“By… feelings & courting. Do you mean you like me romantically?”
Yuta looks up & locked eyes with Shinobu. Yuta’s face was much redder now, & in his eyes there was en expecting look, almost that he was hoping that what he asked was true. Shinobu just nods, his words failing him as he could only stay quiet in this situation. But it was enough of an answer for Yuta as he lent forward & plants a soft kiss on top of Shinobu’s head. & then took 1 of Shinobu’s hand he was holding & placed it on his cheek as he leans into the touch.
“I really like too.”
Was what he simply said.
& boy, if Shinobu’s face wasn’t red before it certainly was now. His heart was doing flips & cartwheels & all sorts of acrobatics. & his breathing was caught in his throat & he stood there, completely stunned. Was he about to pass out?
Before Shinobu could truly pass out from just being kissed by his crush!!! (Sure, it was only on the top of his head, but it still counted!)
“Come on Shinobu! Let’s go somewhere together!”
Yuta suddenly says & he unlocks the door & drags Shinobu out. Having a big grin on his face while it was also dusted beautiful with a blush.
“Ah- wait! Yuta-kun! What about your club activities?”
Shinobu asks finally snapping out of his stunned state.
“I can skip out today! Come on Shinobu-kun! There is this really nice cafe we can go to!”
Shinobu starts laughing at that, as he gets dragged along by his now lover.
They were running in the corridor hand in hand with the most stupid love struck expression on their faces.
Maybe courting Yuta the Ninja way was a good idea.
