You walk out of the pizzaplex with your work bag hanging off one arm, you may be tired but like you always do you, you want to go check out some old calm and eerie place. What could go wrong you know?
You get in your car and head into the forest you go to on a regular basis and park your car off-road, and hidden from most people’s view on the main road.
You grab a book or two and head into the forest, while wandering around for a nice area to catch a break and read more of “The Half Moon” by Mary Beth Keane. But while you’re wandering you come across an old mine and curiosity takes control of you.
You take your phone out and wander out, turning the flashlight on and look around, there are weird engravings in a different language that you can’t understand. They say…
“ सूर्यात् सावधानाः भवन्तु भूमौ स्कॉर्चर चन्द्रात् सावधानाः भवन्तु अन्धकारस्य आनकः ग्रहणात् सावधानाः भवन्तु चन्द्रं सौरं च देवता, तस्य विलम्बं यावत् यदि इदं भवन्तं प्राप्नोति “
(Meaning: Beware the Sun, Scorcher of lands. Beware the Moon, Bringer of Darkness. Beware the Eclipse, Lunar and Solar deity, it’s to late if it finds you)
You continue walking through the tunnels until you find a cart, it’s an old minecart with something in it. Your walk up to this thing and see it looks like a Sun themed “statue” You reach in to pull it out but when your hand touches it the rock it was trapped in moments ago crumbles away and you see this is no statue but an animatronic..?
You pull it out, dropping your phone on the ground and cracking the screen, it turns off and with the phone, so does your flashlight.. “Aw man..” You drop the animatronic carefully onto the ground and pick up your phone, turning your back on the animatronic. The thing is, when you dropped this animatronic you hit the “power-on” button.
While you are trying to turn your phone on without any luck, a white light turns on behind you and you whip around to see the animatronic standing up and staring straight at you. “Where am I?” The animatronic asks you.
“An old mine.” You nervously answer. The animatronic who looks to be about 7’6, carefully makes it’s way through the mine and to the light of the mines exit.
You follow it, it’s the only light in here so it’s your only chance to get out. It stops and turns around, looking down at you now. “Why are you following me?”
You stare back up at it. “My phone broke and your the only source of light around here.” It looks confused. “What’s a fohn (phone but spelled weird)?” You wave your broken phone in front of it in the dim light area. “This.”
It turns back around and continues walking. “Oh. Strange.” You run after it then soon you both make it to the exit and back into the forest.
You smile and go to where you had left your car, the animatronic now following you.
You try to go away from the animatronic but it seems to be everywhere you are, even when you swear you lost it!
After a few minutes of silence and walking you can’t take it anymore. “Why are you following me?” You turn to face the animatronic, it’s directly behind you and towering over you. “Because you woke me up, I have to follow now.” You stop walking. “Woke you up,” You shake it off and start walking again. “So you’ll like grant me 3 wishes or something?” It stares down at you, confused. “I’m not a genie.”
You shrug it off and finally make it to your car, getting in you look out the window and see it’s gone. You sigh and then turn your head to start the car and see it in the passenger seat, seemingly shorter. “OH SHI— good lord when did you get here??” It doesn’t respond just stares at you. You sigh again and start the car. You drive off to your house as the sun is setting. It stares up at the sky through the window, it has the face of a kid who was just let into a candy store.
“What, never seen a sunset?” You joke.
“No. It’s very pretty though. Just like back home.” It says while still staring directly at the pink tinted clouds and orange and purple colored sky.
You are surprised by the answer but don’t push it and continue driving back to your house.
15 minutes later
You pull into your driveway and get out of your car. You help it out of the car as well.
“So what’s your name?” You walk up to your door and unlock it.
“Sun, but soon I’ll be Moon.” It answers pretty quickly, still staring at the sky.
“Soon? Whatever you say dude..”
You lead it inside and go inside yourself, locking the door behind you. You turn around and see it already looking around your.. mostly clean house.
“So where are you fr— oh what the hell.” A different animatronic was staring down at you, visibly confused, you could tell by a look in its weird robotic eyes.
“U- uhm who are you.” This new, blue-er, night time themed animatronic was looking down at you uncertainly.
You tell it your name, still looking up at it. “So who are you again?”
“I’m Moon. And I’m guessing by the fact that I’m here you’ve already met Sun.” It shrugged, that made a little click sound come out of it. The sound startled it a bit it seemed. “Oh right, new body.”
“New what now??” You squinted your eyes a bit, staring at it, just plain confused now.
“Nothing, anyways shortie, what do normal robot things do here?” It smirked while looking down at you, the shadow on its face made its eyes look like they were glowing. And they were red.
”I am NOT short! You are just tall because you’re an animatronic!” You scoff, Sun was nicer, way nicer. “Mind telling me what you were doing lookin’ like a statue then doing this and becoming ‘alive’ ?”
It’s “eyes” widen and it avoids your question. “Can’t you just tell me, shortie?”
“Still not short,” You glare up at it, or.. him. “And either way you’re an animatronic so why do you care?” You roll your eyes, knowing he might avoid your question again but it’s worth a shot, right?
“I have my reasons.” His twisted smile only grew.
“Alright, well explain them.” You were growing annoyed with him but you weren’t gonna stop trying to get some answers.
His smile slowly turned into a frown. “You’re persistent aren’t you?”
You nod, now you’re the one smiling. Just then you get a knock on the door. You and Moon turn to look at the door. Then back at each other. You give him a certain look and he nods. He goes into a room, closing the door, he’s hidden enough. You go up to the door and open it.
Chris.
“Hello dear~!” Chris smiles at you, already browned flowers in his hands.
You stare at him for a hot minute before opening your mouth. “Get the fuck off my property or I’m getting a restraining order.”
His smile twitches and then it twists into a frown.
You slam the door in his face.
